    • -1

yeah all those babes calling ya I bet.. or just your mom? lol

      • +15

Mom? This is OZbargain not USbargain!

      • +4

        From SA not Tas.
And its mum, we use real english round here not that "murican english"

  • +11

1100 way too new for me.

  • +4

What is great about this phone is that it is just a phone

NO! It is the phone. Plus, it has snake. Plenty of gimmicks :)

    • Nokia 2100 is the phone to have, you should know that maf!

      • +1

        3310 >> 2100

  • +5

great alternative to bricks if someone is looking at building a fortress.

  • +3

    Thanks, needed a new footy.

  • 4G?

  • +1

these are so hot right now

  • forget all the specs, does this have snake?

  • not bad price, but the lack of 1080p is a bit of a deal-breaker for me…

    • +5

Come on, there is hardly any 1080p content available anyway. 96 x 65 pixels is more than enough for most people.

    • +1

1080p? This has over 6000 pixels! 1080 is only like a quarter of that.

      • maybe you can use the calculator on the 1100 to work out your quarter of 6000 answer below…

        (answer: it's 1500!)

  • +15

ah……. the days when everyone didnt have their head up the ass of a mobile phone

    • I wouldn't call modern phones as mobile phones they're more like mobile handheld computers with a phone function.

      • +2

Nah - they're "Superficial relationship generators".

  • +7

I will resist untill either the 8210 or 8310 is around $10 on ozbaragin, As they are the only phone that more suitable for my life style. "Small"

    • +9

8250 for me… that blue screen omg.

    • +1

Ahh the 8210. That was a great phone. In all seriousness I wish I still had a working one.

    • pft your living in the past man, Contemporaneous!!! 6610 all the way, firt real colour screen!

      • -1

        *Contemporise

  • Nokia 3310 was where it was at.
    That phone was indestructible

  • +6

is $10 actually cheap for a really old , second hand phone?

I know all the jokes and sentimentality etc, but is it really a bargain?

    • +3

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree. Seeing these type of posts frequently make the front page with loads of + votes is getting kind of old. Nostalgia is great, but this isn't a bargain.

    • Point me in the direction of a durable, reliable phone with a long battery life for $10, then I'll agree with you.

      • The problem with these old nokias is they are GSM which not only has shocking call quality but will also be switched off at some point (AT&T has a 2017 cutoff date).

  • +2

@PVA - you can often get a better phone for free from the officeworks 'donate your old phone' bin if you're really desperate ;)

    • +1

      That's what I mean so why 27 votes saying it's a deal?

      • +2

I don't think so, not when you can get a brand new phone which takes new sim sizes, and supports multiple frequencies for $30 or so….

      • +2
        1. Because it's dirt cheap. The cheapest new phone is about $30.

        2. Because it's unlocked. Most new phones are networked-locked.

        3. Long battery life - but far LONGER if it's turned off. I have a 3310 that I charged a month ago. Turned it on yesterday - battery is still full. (This alone makes it great for a standby phone.)

        4. You're forced to interact with other human beings in the same physical location.

        5. If you're on an old plan you don't want to upgrade because new phone uses a new SIM (like us - $0 per month on Vodafone "No Plans", which is no longer available to new customers).

The votes are there because it is a deal to some.

        • +2

$30 for a brand new bought outright unlocked Samsung colour screen GSM phone currently from Dick Smith. So less than a $20 difference means the difference between an old ancient refurbished overseas stock black & white screen phone with virtually no warranty vs brand new colour LCD screen phone with a 2 year warranty. Take your pick.

  • +3

Can we resell these for $30,000? where were they made Bochum, Germany?

    http://www.geek.com/mobile/hackers-paying-thousands-for-disc…

    • With Nokia 3310 you can bash the hackers and get $30,000.

    • for that type of cash you'd just think someone would hack some other firmware to have the same flaw/"feature"

  • These cheap phones are great but with modern phones the sim card is a different size sometimes switching Sims is not feasible and second number adds more cost…

  • THIS IS THE NOKIA I LIKE.

  • +5

    @Stringer Bell

    • +1

I was going to say Avon Barksdale would be in on this deal.

  • I used to have a Nokia 2100. The memories

  • Does this have the right frequency for USA? Heading there in a few weeks for a holiday, and need a basic phone. Not bad for $10.

    • +4

People would probably laugh at you there when they see you holding an ancient Nokia 1100 phone! :)

Also i doubt you'll have this phone in a few weeks. The item page says delivery sent within 15-60 days.

Instead i suggest buying this unlocked Samsung E1205 mobile phone that's on sale today for $29.98 (free delivery) from Dick Smith on the hour of power sale between 9am-5pm. Hey this Samsung phone has colour LCD screen, FM Radio, MP3 ringtones!, dual band GSM plus a 2 year warranty. Much more modern phone than this ancient Nokia 1100. Atleast people won't be totally laughing at you if you are having a brand new mobile phone that doesn't look like it's 15 years old.

      http://www.dicksmith.com.au/unlocked-smart-phones/samsung-e1…

Video kind of review of the Samsung E1205 phone. At least it shows it in operation for an example.

I doubt they will laugh, they know your from a evil commie country and think your life is in every way worst then theres. Just pretend your Nokia 1100 is the pinnacle of your tech goodies. If they ask, tell them about Tony Abbott and how hes improving Australia to be like USA.

    • You'd be lucky to get it in a 'few weeks' from this mob!

      • Yeah that's true this mob will take forever to ship the goods. I just myself ordered one of the brand new unlocked Samsung E1205 mobile phones from Dick Smith for only $29.98 delivered for as a backup phone. Nice deal.

I wasn't going to buy a used ancient refurbished mobile phone from overseas that i might get if i'm lucky several weeks later for only about a $18 AUD pricing difference. It doesn't even have polyphonic ringtones.

    • And so old, it has no NSA backdoors or sniffer/voice recording with auto sending to FBI features.

  • The Chuck Norris of phones

  • I have a selection of old phones. The 6100 comes to mind. Which ones are best for taking to the USA? OR take to Indonesia?

  • They wont die!!!!. For a burner phone I reckon this is a good deal

    • How do you get the burner SIM to go with it? :)

  • I still have my nokia 8810 somewhere…

    • I used to have a nokia 7250i until i threw it out and upgraded to a Blackberry Bold 9700. The Blackberry has lasted me 5 years still on the original battery so far although i'm sure it could die any day.

  • What a deal

These are a particularly great phone, as they are very basic, very strong, and reliable.

I would actually prefer this phone over a slightly more expensive 'colour' smart phone, or even this phone's colour younger brother.

I remember this phone to have no 'lag' when opening sms's or checking the phone book, as opposed to the colour one.

A very practical phone, for someone requiring a cheap reliable, long battery life, phone.

  • the AK-47 of the phone world. Still the best selling phone of all time I believe.

    • True.

The Nokia 1100. The very best there is. When you absolutely, positively got to phone every motherf0ck3r in the room, accept no substitutes.

  • The last nokia phone I had was 6230, Very similar to 8210 a little bigger with colour, camera and Wap.

  • Expired? It is showing $14USD for me?

  • My dad has one of these… still uses it to this day.
He fell into a lake and it survived, plus the countless drops onto hard concrete.
    Worthy of your $14 dollars.
