Link says $15/kg, title says $30. Misteak?

    • +1

Steaking my claim: Link is for 500g…

      • +1

Ah, my bad. <insert meat pun>

        • baaaaaad pun.

          you need to improve mooooo-re.

      • +1

Here we go, hamming it up with puns.

        • All these comments have to be a rib, aye?

        • Hamming it up? Or off the hook ?

  • $15 is for 500 grams.

As an online store, we need to be specific about the weight for online delivery - as such the title of that specific item is the 500gm Rump steak for $15, the KG price is $30 on special.

  • +14

That's the the normal price at quite a few places, with some of them being cheaper.

    No deal.

    Just as an example.NORMALLY 29.90.
    On sale at $24.50
BMS7+, and not 4-6. Higher grade.. lower price.

I have gotten them for as low as $20 a kg.

Remember.. this is OZb, not some place where you think you can rip people off.

      Excellent use of bold zeomega…

We appreciate the are always cheaper products around - I'm sure your not asserting that all Wagyu is the same ?

The reference to Vic's Meat Market is specifically a case in point, I'm sure the Wagyu they sell discounted cheaply online is not the same as they are selling in their flagship store. I'm sure you would agree that taking the cheapest price alone does not indicate a bargain or not.

    • +1

I would say generally a cheaper price means a bargain. No deal

      • +5

        yes

its hard to argue with a cheaper price AND better objective metrics…

subjectives you can argue but not when the numbers are there

      • +10

I would say generally a cheaper price means a bargain.

        No, I completely disagree.

A cheap price for a cheap product is normal, not a bargain.

A cheap price for the same or better product, is a bargain.

        • +2

You have worded it more precise! I agree!

        • sounds better

      • +5

Cheap doesn't always = bargain mate, you should know that come on.

      • +1

Yeah, and a Hyundai is a bargain Bugatti, because they're both called "cars", right?

Why people who clearly have zero idea about meat are commenting is a mystery.

    • +7

How can you bang on about not all wagyu being the same and then not list the origin of the meat you're selling?

    • +1

Come on, your doing yourself a disservice criticizing Vic's/Victor Churchill.

Surely you're not trying to suggest that this discounted wagyu is the same product as YOU sell in your flagship retail store (David Jones Foodhall) for $150kg?

Keep it classy, I shop at your stores all the time and you have great products, don't bring it down by trying to criticize your competition.

For what it is worth I have bought this steak and in is Sensational! Really yummy, it just melts in your mouth :)

I cannot comment on Vic's Meat Market but as the Rep says just because it says "Wagyu" doesn't mean they are all the same grade.

I have had Wagyu in a restaurant which was tougher than an old boot! There is a whole spectrum in play when it comes to meat.

The meat from this butcher is very high quality.
I live in Canberra and I get my meat delivered from this store to my parents in Sydney.

    • +4

Lucky them. Can you please get some delivered to me as well?

    • I wish I had a rich mummy and daddy in Sydney… :(

    • I live 2 minutes from one of their stores and they are my go-to! Especially if you use the 25% off voucher from the Entertainment Book! THAt makes them unbeatable.

Being out of your price range is not a valid reason to give a neg.

    Minimum order is AUD $50

To be honest, wagyu rump steak is not a good cut (even with a marble score of 9/10). It's "chewy" compared to a good rib eye or top rib cut (non wagyu). My 2 cents (GST excluded).

    • I used to have your mindset as well, but…. one of the few points with beef:

      1. Never freeze your beef. It really changes the texture for the worse.
      2. Rump needs to be cooked perfectly. There is a reason why it's called the chef's cut, once cooked perfectly. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, a little salt and pepper after and brilliant.
      3. Whilst you may not see the MBS, it is there and it does play a difference.
      4. How well the beef is aged, aging usually contributes to more flavour and texture.
  • Does anyone know the best way to cook it?

      Don't you watch Masterchef?

    Uhmmmm….. I'm sorry.. but i have to say that's a little sus.

Also, your whole defensive stance feels somewhat like you have a steak in the business.

    • Um, what's the issue with the two statements. How does wondering how to cook wagyu conflict with the first statement.

      • whoosh

        • The original poster is referring to the meat from this store not 'the wagyu' specifically. Don't see a conflict if they are wondering how to cook the wagyu.

Or was the whoosh referring to the 'hilarious' steak joke? If so I've a bed with the joke setup.

      • Apparently getting meat delivered to your parents in another state means you know how to cook it.

  • Combine this with the 25% off voucher in the Entertainment Book… nom nom
