  • Krug '98 Vintage for $299 is a bargain.

  • I don't understand what this post is about

    • Check out the link - it will all become crystal clear :) Vinomofo sell wines. This is a 'mystery' wine deal.

It seems like you just copied and pasted from the vinomofo website..hence the confusion because it looks like an advert. You should at least describe your post a bit…like the title being a "mixed pack" or something of the likes…then talk about each wine and what you think it may be etc.

Personally it looks like there is a lot of 2011 reds in the pack…and from experience any other vintage year seems to just trump the 2011 (especially from Baross). The grapes were just horrible that year. Pretty much buying any other year you get a better tasting wine as wine makers had to add additives to play around with the flavours.

So in other words you understood what the post was but you decided to make the post as some kind of statement. Congrats to you sir/madam. <slow clap>

nope, didn't understand the post until I clicked the link.

All I read was "TOP SECRET - WITNESS RELOCATION FILE No. 3121" then some description of wines… nothing in your post actually describes what this is…which is a mixed pack of wines. All you did was copy and paste an advertisement. Hence the confusion at the start. Nothing against copy and pasting the description…just at least mention what this is first then only list the copy/pasted information.

How is that not constructive feedback? Its not like I negged the deal geez. All I'm saying is that you need to describe the deal too.

        • It's OK sir/madam I forgive you.

        • +2

Maestrok, it's just another poor attempt at getting referral credits. No research done whatsoever.

  • I am in the market to buy some wines as gifts.

Is this a good collection . Can some one guide me please ?

    • Wine is very subjective but I have been very happy with the wines I have purchased from Vinomofo in the past. There are other sites doing similar deals with some very average wines. I would say these are on the higher end of scale and you get more than you pay for (compared to RRP).

      • Thanking you kwidjibo !

    • These mix cases are how mofo gets rid of the stuff they couldn't sell in full cases. As above lots of 2011. Even the king mofo says this https://www.dropbox.com/s/yk0gjc32xgpqsh8/Scan%2026%20Mar%20…

Exactly right! This is why they are able to offer such a good buy. Pay a fraction of the price you normally would for another year. 'Experts' may say that 2011 was a sh!t year but I have still enjoyed many a good 2011 which I normally wouldn't have tried if it was at full price.

  • The identity of these wines are not known, so this is not a deal, especially since it contains so many 2011 reds.

    • With this logic then all mystery deals are invalid. The bargain is the 60% off RRP.

      • +2

other mystery deals have had research put into it.

this is ozbargain, we don't care about rrp.

        • -1

I really struggle with your logic. If you don't care about RRP how do you distinguish between paying full price and a bargain. The point of a mystery deal is to not know the wine. Great that others have worked out what the wines would be but that is not as relevant to me. I quite enjoy the mystery aspect and trying wines that I may not have tried before. You still have not given a valid reason that this is not a bargain at 60% off the full price.

        • I think what he means is that RRP may not necessarily reflect the price some of these wines are available for….so true savings may not actually be the advertised 60%. Of course it is hard to tell since we 'technically' do not know the identity of these bottles. It is highly unlikely that EVERY bottle you get in this pack is actually sold at RRP in other stores like Dan Murphys or Wine Market.

Its the same logic as say a logitech mouse with an RRP of $100 but if you search on staticice you find that most places sell it at $60. So if a store sells it at $40 yes it is still a deal, but it is not really 60% off as you would have got it 40% off RRP at most stores anyways.

I'm pretty sure some of the wines that are available on vinomofo are only $2 or so more per bottle at DM which means you may be better off trying one bottle at DM to see if you like the wine first before purchasing 12 of them.

        • Point taken however until shown otherwise I will trust that this is a good deal. Until now all of my many other Vinomofo purchases have been.

        • That's fair enough mate, I'm not an irrational person. Only being constructive! Not saying its not a deal, just saying that it may not necessarily be the 60% off as 'advertised'…that's what marketing departments are for!

AFAIK Vinomofo's mixed cases are always great. I've always loved them because it gives me a chance to taste a few…so I can make note of how they describe it so if whenever they have a full case for cheap I can get it! I've bought 2 mixed cases from them so far and most of the wines are great, one or two bottles wasn't as great as expected but when that happened, I only had to deal with one other bottle of that wine!

I've always had a problem with having to purchase 6/12 when you're not sure what exactly you're getting and sometimes the savings aren't really worth having to buy so many bottles haha! Some other wines however….you buy 2 cases and its still not enough! ;)

          this feels more like ozreferrals.

    Survey has expired :(

Will be interesting to see how many vino mofo deals get posted once the $25 referral credit is gone. That will be the real bargain test!

  • +1

Just marketing blurb - no effort attempting to research the wines to identify why it is a bargain
    plus the survey has expired

  • +1

You are a bit late to the party 'wally'. You may be missing the point of a mystery deal but I will forgive you for that based upon your self proclaimed title. The survey was still active at the time of posting but we have already recognised the fact you are a little behind the game so I will give you a pass on that also. Looks like we are all good here. Sweet dreams.
