Well, my gf works for the uni so we got it that way but there was no verification at all. When she picks up the paper from uni, she shows the card provided by the Herald Sun to the attendant and that's it.
It's nice but can't beat the Melbourne Football Club offer of 4-day-a-week (Friday to Monday) subscription for the entire year for $25.

Well I have been a MFC member for years but this year I subscribed to the newspaper offer I think a month before I renewed my membership and nothing happened to me.
You can also get the Fri to Mon deal for $25 for the entire year if you are a Melbourne Victory member.
