          Bots exist to manufacture consensus

  • +16

Amusing that they mention strictly no firearms allowed at the festival. I thought that would be a given.

Am I reading the brochure correctly that the camel rides are free?

    • +4

    • -4

      (not stirring sh*t)

      • +1

I remember watching movies in Thailand YEARS ago, and bladed-weapons were blurred.

    • +11

Camel rides are free but require a "quest" to be completed by the kids. This involves going around to some stalls and getting stamps.

It's not in Fairfield, Fairfield Showground is in Prairiewood. Also grow a backbone

      • -4

well shouldn't it be called Prairiewood Showgrounds?

    • +7

Without data, it's just an opinion.

Look at your own backyard Trishool. India is a haven for minorities right?

          • -4

@khomeini: Lol yes have a better look at India and their minorities population that have grown rapidly since independence, and show me where that has happened in ANY Muslim majority country for their minorities. The growth of minority populations in India is not attributed to conversion so don't bother with that argument.

Well you would be surprised - it brings together people from an incredibly diverse range of nationalities and cultural backgrounds - Australia, Türkiye, Lebanon, Indonesia, Bangladesh , China, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, various parts of Africa, the Middle East, the UK, the US, and many more.

    • +11

if you google "the largest muslim population in the world" is actually based in SE Asia and S Asia and they don't look as "monocultural" as you think

    • +13

Thinks Muslim = Arab. Has no idea most Muslims aren't Arabs.

      • +3

        They didn't think at all.

  • +1

    • +1

I'm kinda glad I missed them.

  • will they do any fireworks?

    • +6

Yep there are fireworks this year

  • +22

With all these rubbish comments, it’s not surprising that outside cultures find it difficult to integrate or assimilate.

You point the finger but you are the ones that won’t welcome others to this country and to your circles. How can we live in harmony with newcomers or other cultures, if we try push them back out and treat them with prejudice? Multicultural Australia is a reality you will never undo.

    • +2

      Couldn't say it better.

    • +1

Everyone isn't the same. If they were you could emigrate to any of the Islamic countries and have zero problem with your assimilation. Exactly the same principle applies to immigrants to Australia from Islamic monocultures. It has little to do with how nice we are and everything to do with how hard it is to reconcile the irreconcilable.

To be an immigrant is to give up a lot. All the successful immigrants I've known have had one thing in common: they were prepared to change. I don't think that's easy for Muslims, because the degree of change required is apostasy in all but name.

Harmony isn't what I want, what I want is a society that can cope well with disharmony. Harmony can take care of itself just fine.

As for multikulti being immutable, I suggest you read more history. People driving out (or worse) those unlike themselves is routine. So's people thinking they're too enlightened and civilised to behave like that, and that it will never happen here.

Can you ensure that you have indian food this year? Not a fan of pakistani food.

    • +1

Pakistani food!! Yumm..Thats mean it will be a good day for my taste bud.

      • 🍻🇵🇰

    • +1

There is Royal Indian & Pakistani Restaurant and Sydney Panipuri Point if Himalaya Restaurant doesn't satisfy your Indian Subcontinent craving :)

    • +1

I'd love to know the difference between the two cuisines Hydralyte. Can you let me know?
I honestly try to explain it to my family and they say it's the same (ps. we have indian/pakistani heritage so feel free to expand exactly what - is it the meat?).

  • Eid Mubarek! If you don't like that eid is being celebrated in this country then I suggest you leave this country and go to one that doesn't

    • -4

I feel that discrimination against sexuality shouldn't be protected by the word "religion". The second you show me that Islam embraces people of all backgrounds, I'll change my mind. Until then, I can't believe you're suggesting that others are bigots for not embracing a religion that openly and harshly punishes people just existing.

      • +5

Christian organizations actively lobbied and organised against gay marriage and you celebrate xmas?

        • -5

          I don't celebrate Xmas if that's what you're implying

    • -1

Unfortunately, there are no places in the world where Anglo Saxons can live if they wanted a monocultural existence.

      • -3

There are gated communities in South Africa, like Orania, which only Africaners/Boers (those with Dutch backgrounds) can live in - they don't accept other people.
There aren't places anywhere in the modern world where a select people can live exclusively, including Asian/European/African countries. Perhaps Israel is the only outlier.
Hope that helps. I may be wrong btw - happy if you can find sources.

        • One might ask why Orania requires being a gated community? It's not a pretty answer

      • Try Siberia, i heard the fishing is good

  • +9

Im in. Looks like fun and a great chance to try some interesting food

    • +2

Enjoy. I'm gonna go at night and see the fireworks

  • +2

    Sounds like fun festival
