Hi, what do you guys think of the Toshiba Encore 8 WIN8.1 tablet?

    • Production quality Better than acer stuff that's what I know.. but, win 8.1 may not be idea to use as tablet os, thanks to the lack of tablet ( modern metro) apps.

This acer tablet isn't bad in specs though. If it has more than 1g ram, it would be more than passable

    • I got one its ok, I sorta regret not getting the Dell Venue though. But it depends of whether HDMI out was a big deal or not for your requirements.

  • crummy specs to say the lease..

      looks like junk to me.

Reading a lot of comments about tablets on here, a lot of people I would say might have a case of tablet snobbery regarding the latest and greatest specs. The truth is that there is not too much difference in tablets in similar price points except for the obvious size variations and operating systems. For the price this is just fine for most average users. If you drop a tablet on a hard surface, they will all be broken. The spec list in Dick Smith is not complete. Below is an exert from a review.

"Apart from that, the Acer Iconia A3 is just one more Android tablet - and a fairly heavy one at 600 grams (1.3 pounds). In terms of thickness, this is not the slimmest nor the thickest tablet we’ve seen - it’s right in the middle with 10.1mm thick body.

Acer includes a 1280 x 800 pixel display, a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, and 16GB and 32GB model. The rest of the specs include a 5-megapixel rear camera, storage expandable via microSD cards, a micro HDMI port and Blutooth 4.0."

I purchased a similar 10" Asus memo pad for $200 from Dicks, and for the money it's great. And I have a few tablets and computers to compare including a Nexus 7, Nexus 4, Acer A500, and i5 notebooks.
