How do the premiums compare to other Travel Insurance companies ?

Not really worth it if they are $20 or more higher in price…

    • Jv , hi :), I post woolies because on my last trip I did a one day adrenaline activity that was specifically excluded by TID, that required the sport add on for nomads (which took it to double woolies). Your other lower premium insurers unfortunately would not have paid out had I had an accident. Premiums is not always the appropriate question.

    • Took out cover in November with Aust Post Travel Insurance - for 15 days in Australia our quote was $76. That was the maximum amount of days allowable before having to purchase a yearly policy for $125.90.

Woolworths, 15 days within Australia $134, 16 days $174 or thereabouts. I didn't bother checking beyond that.

      • lol decided on the spur of the moment to go back and do a comparison on the yearly policy that we took out. Aust Post, $125.90 (includes children): Woolworths Travel $1434.02. Coverage is similar - had to take out the premium coverage with WW to be covered for hire car excess.

    • Thanks for the obvious JV.

I think you can say that with ANY deal. Always check if it is the cheapest after rebates and discounts and perks. (with any deal)

in saying that, my friend went to europe, and after research went with woolies travel insurance, she even paid $20 extra to waive all excess. She was convinced she would get scammed/mugged at some stage in europe, so this was a bargain. Especially when you can claim you were mugged of cash up to $200.

Got a quote of $198 for my family travel, similar insurance cover on my Citibank signature credit card (still available for free for life) will cost me only $37 in surcharge (buying air tickets on cc).

Don't forget to stack it with the promo code EDRTRAVEL for an additional 10% discount. In my case it is cheaper than with AusPost (even without the discount and gift card).

    • Didn't know that; thanks

    • One of the best things about sharing a deal on OzB is when the op is rewarded with an even better deal, thanks!

  • Hmmmm is it 21 and under with a full paying adult or under 21?

    • Just called… Confirmed… under 21 not 21 and under.

  • So booking for one day, say in NZ may be less than 20…

    • Interesting…Comes up at $19.19 for basic insurance for a day in NZ for me. So if I was willing to make an investment of $19.19 a day for the 82 days remaining in the offer would make it a $1573.58 investment and I'd stand to make $66.42. Then do that for the Mrs aswell thats $132.84 from a $3147.16 investment. I make way more from male prostitution so it's not for me but each to their own ;) Surely the PDS would say something about 1 per person aswell :P

  • I'm going to Bali for a week alone. Quote (basic, really just after the medical ins.) with discount is $48.04, less $20 card = $24.

    Giving a flat $ discount rather than a % = Bargain +

  • I paid for my insurance with Woolies a week ago. ;(
Price was much the same as everyone else, but I found the T&C more favourable for what I was looking for.

Thanks OP; booking a 2 day trip, Woolies $31 (-10% [credit to brightaussie!] + $20 gift card), TID/AusPost $37. Definitely in my favour!

  • Had a read through their PDS, seems quite a good policy. I'm going on a 4 month trip so will be dropping a few hundred bucks on insurance, this might come in handy (especially the 10% code above!)

  • wonder how the gift card is sent - I didn't give an address in application

    • I gave mine, in personal details page

  • Add the code: EDRTRAVEL for an extra 10% off
