FML just bought it last week but got 7% off though comparison websites.

    Oh well.

    • I bought for 15% off last night and now it is 20% off!

      • There's a 14 day cooling off period…. but in your case is 5% worth the process of cancelation and buying again?

        • +2

Difference is $3 and flight departs in 90 minutes. Probably not worth it.

Is there a reason people don't just get a NAB platinum debit card for the free travel insurance instead of buying it? Card fee is only $10/month and you can just cancel after the trip. Do people just need more extensive covers/less excess? Just curious!

need to spend 500 on that specific card on travel costs

    • +1

Ive not heard about that NAB card, interesting. Seems too good, is there a catch? From what I can see all you need to do is spend at least $500 on it towards travel before leaving, which wouldnt exactly be hard. I got an amex for the travel insurance but it comes with massive annual fees.

I got stuck in Bali several months back when the Volcano caused flight cancellations. My Tick policy refused my claim howwever my free Westpac credit card insurance paid out the full amount which I was very impresssed with.
I have claimed through Tick before & although they are slow to process claims, they did cover me when I had to rebook last minute flights.

      • They had an optional cover for natural disasters when I did a quote yesterday.

I checked the PDS and the excess to make a claim is $ 400 for overseas medical expenses. So if you've got Bali belly and needed to be hospitalised, you'll have to pay $ 400 to get all your medical expenses reimbursed.

    • I did a policy for my wife and son travelling to Japan for two weeks and it was $35. If you are travelling less than a few times per year overseas it could be cheaper than $120 per year for the credit card. I also don't like credit cards in general.

    • The personal liability cover for this is lower ($1m) than typical for most policies ($1.5-3m).

CC travel insurance usually have an excess to pay per claim item type. This can eat massively into your claim, depending what you are claiming.

With standalone travel insurance mobs like this, you can opt for no excess.

I just tried the code "TICKON20" to see and it gave me 20% off. :)

    • +1

Wow! Just tried it and confirmed working. Have updated deal.

      • What perfect timing, I came looking for this deal as i'd seen it earlier today. Booked 3x trips so saved an extra 5% on each :)

    • +1

      Have you tried 30,40,50 etc?

      • +2

        Tried TICKON100 but didn't work.

    Thanks OP!

  • For those that plan on taking a ferry ride longer than 2 hours long, you need to opt for "Cruise Cover" instead of the usual "one trip" option to ensure you are covered for any ferry mishaps! I've just verified this by phoning Tick as we will be travelling from Bali to one of the Gili Islands later in the year.

  • I'm trying to sign up but getting persistent data error in the last 3 days and I can't do anything past screen now to add pre-existing medical conditions. So frustrating.

  • Anyone claimed with Tick before? Reviews on Product Review are horrendous (but I’m aware people are more likely to leave reviews for bad experiences than good). I’ve even factored in stupidity of people not reading to see how much they’re covered for

    • 4/5 isn't too bad is it? Last time I purchased travel insurance Southern Cross seemed to have the best based on reviews if they can be trusted.

Cheers op perfect timing and best price out of all the quotes I've gotten

    well, thanks !

  • It looks like that this Promo Code is no longer available. Do you have any other promo code? Thanks!

    • TICKON15 still works

      • Thanks!

By the way, I asked them if they have the facility to pay overseas directly rather than claim it back. It seems that they are able to by contacting their assistance Team. FYI.

      • Thank you.

  • Tried getting this for our son, 27yo.
The date of birth field stops at Feb 7th 1998, he’s born April. Seems you need to be older than 27 for a policy??

    • Your son is old enough to buy travel insurance himself. He would also know that if he hasn't had his birthday yet he's only 26 not 27. The website says to enter the current age, not the age at the time of the trip.

      • +1

That was me in the wrong .. stupid me thought he was 27 😀.
Yes, hes old enough to buy it, only about $40 … but i did insurance for the whole family.
