Looks pretty good, this is their top of the range model right?

    • -6

      yes

    • +2

There's a pretty black model above that's the same as this one with the addition of a tongue-cleaning mode.
I've got this one. Expect a little blood the first couple of days of use until your gums man up, then you'll really notice the difference.
The little wireless smart guide helps you follow the time you've been brushing, and the brush pauses slightly every 30 seconds so you can change quadrant and end up with a two minute brush. If you go to three minutes the smiley face on it gets smilier. :)

Just keep in mind if you let it drop to 1/3 on the battery gauge you'll get a noticeably weaker brushing action from it. That's about the only drawback.

Oh and get the Dual Action heads. I've never found them for sale in stores over here but I just buy a dozen at a time from European eBay sellers. They're much much better than the other heads.

I got mine for $150 with $50 cashback and I've never regretted it. It's still powering on after over a year of twice-daily use and I've had no problems.

      • +1

do you have an ebay link for those dual action heads? Are they original?

        • +1

I got the name slightly wrong - they're dual clean, not dual action.
Picked a couple of lots I saw at first glance:

          Six for $21
          Nine for $32

They do sell off-brand generic ones on eBay too but I've never bothered with them.

      • I got this last year and indeed it made my gums man up, as you say.

  • There was a model with 2 brushes, I cant find it now. Is that on sale too?

  • +5

I gotta say having owned the triumph 5000 for about 2 years and then changed to Philips sonicare (http://www.shavershop.com.au/online-store/oral-care/electric…), Philips I get a better clean with Philips. A real noticeable difference.

I had bought my philips for $209 after the $20 cash back ($229 special).

    • +3

Likewise… I've had much better results with the Philips Sonicare. I also had a Colgate pro 3000 for a week and I dropped and broke it….I still prefer the Philips over both OralB & Colgate…

BigW has the sonicare for a while now for $137 + $10 delivery.

      • Saw your post and spent some time search online, finally decided to go with this one. Then it shows as out of stock now. I am pretty sure it was available when I first clicked your link. ~~o(>_<)o ~~

        • oh my goodness you are right.. after posting that link.. its all gone.. as I said it had been that price for over a week.. yesterday cousin bought one.

        • I just went into the Winston Hill store and got it at $137 even tho its $229 in-store.

        • u mean it scanned at $137 or you had to tell them about their online price?

        • Was it price match?

The DiamondClean is uber expensive. Much cheaper to buy a lower model and purchase the Diamond brush heads separately to use. I got the HealthyWhite twin pack with 2 handles, for $140 ish after $20 cashback. Compared to the $260 the DC comes with all I lost was the glass charging cup which is dumb because that thing doesn't even stand straight on it, it leans. And I've got 2 handles so I can use one while charging the other.

Also the DC handle has only one button which cycles through 7 different modes. If you want to turn it off yourself, you need to press the button about 8 times before it turns off. Other models have one button for on/off and a separate button for cycling through different modes. A bit disappointing for a top end model.

      • +2

yup i purposely didn't go for the DiamondClean due to the single power/cycle button. Was reading about people having toothpaste all over their bathroom as you you needed to turn it on before being able to cycle thru the different modes.

  • I'm a bit skeptical about the "Superior whitening in 3 weeks".

    • I believe any electric toothbrush will visibly "whiten" the teeth of any one who uses 'manual labour' within a week.

I know it happened to me.

  • WHich state is this in. I cant see the Oral B in the Mothers day BigW brochure
    https://www.bigw.com.au/offer/catalogue#view=catalogue2&sale…

    • Yeah I get that same one. Seems like they've switched it around with the Colgate one.

My family and I are Oral-B electric toothbrush users for many years. Currently using PC3000. Can someone please tell me if is any real difference, in terms of brushing experience & result, between the PC3000, IQ5000 and the IQ7000?

All 3 models have 40,000 pulsations and 8,800 oscillations per minute. All 3 have pressure sensor, charge indicator, timer. All come with different brush heads.

IQ5000 and IQ7000 do come with a little ‘wireless smart guide’ for ‘feedback during brushing’ (i.e. time, brush mode, pressure control) Do you really need to see these ‘feedback’?

Brushing modes: PC3000 has 3. IQ7000 has 6, but do people really use all 6 modes? Daily clean or deep clean, does it matter? Massage? Polish? Tongue cleaning???

IQ7000 comes with Travel Case and Premium Packaging (Wow!)

    Price: PC3000 (2 handles): $160. IQ5000 $160. Q7000 (normally) $200

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    • +4

We have the IQ5000 (older model without LCD) and the PC3000.

To me the modes do not add value. I've used the deep clean once to try it. Would not pay more for this.

I initially dismissed the smart guide as gimmicky but it is more useful than I anticipated. The countdown really helps with spending an equal amount of time on each side of teeth. I kind of miss it when travelling. Also doubles as a clock if you don't already have one there. Up to you to decide how much this is worth to you.

The PC3000 is much slimmer, lighter, and therefore nicer to hold in your hand. Oh, and one usability difference: to turn off our PC3000 you need to press and hold the button for 1 to 2 seconds, which is not as nice as the single push needed to turn the IQ5000 on or off. This may have been changed in newer versions of the brush though.

The travel case is handy, it can carry one handle and two brushes. Keeps the thing from turning on in your luggage if not packed carefully. Our PC3000 did not come with a travel case.

For reference, the dual-handle IQ5000 was on sale for $169 around June last year.

Bah :( $200 online, and low/no stock at every SA store except Seaford

Bah, and the $200 Colgate one is $100 off, but no stock at all anywhere, inc. online.

EDIT:-.; http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Colgate-A1500-Pro-Clinical-Electr… Shaver Shop has the Colgate one for $99 delivered, think I'll buy that!

Can't find the AA battery powered one.

Good cheapo( under 20) that I've been using for years, good enough.

    Uses the same brush.

    Great portable travel brush

  • +1

I've used several of these and changed over to Philips. Far superior product. Look around on Amazon for combo deals with the air floss. I got both for $150 My dentist couldn't believe the difference.

  • +3

    Hi,

Their website is still stating it as $200.

What magazine is that from, as I think I will go and buy a couple of these for the wife and I to use.

Interesting to read about the Philips offerings, seems like most people are stating Oral B are the way to go, but there isn't any difference between the 1000,3000,5000 series in regards to speed or functionality (excluding the extras)

Will be buying from either Melbourne or Geelong.

    Thanks,

    G.

  • worth upgrading from a professional care 500?

  • My dentist called this model the "Mercedes Benz" of toothbrushes. I got mine on eBay did like $130 and have loved it. Gf loves it too!

    • "Mercedes Benz" of toothbrushes because it has a fancy display. Dentists are given samples/free products to promote products, same thing as doctors. Next time you go to your doctor, ask him for samples, he will give you pens, pads, viagra, its all the crap they get to promote products..

    • +2

So, expensive to maintain and has reliability problems due to over-engineering?

  • These are great until the battery life degrades to the point where you need to be constantly charging it to get through a single brush.

No simple way to change the battery which is extremely annoying.

    • Which is why I've stuck with the basic AA battery version.

  • I bought a top of the range Oral-B toothbrush probably over 10 years ago now…still going pretty well but if I take it on holidays without a charger it struggles for a week…but a good workhorse.

Some friends (an orthodontist and a dentist) just came back from Japan and brought me a Panasonic EW-DL32 sonic toothbrush and believe it to be superior to the Oral-B rotating head. I've been using it just under a week and it's not bad. Should be out here within a year they reckon. But if you're looking at this bargain, it's a pretty good deal for now…but if you're looking to upgrade - I'd wait for the sonic toothbrush.

  • wouldnt a true ozbargainer just buy a $1 one from red dot?

  • 51 pluses but no one reports he/she bought one ?? MAGIC!

    • +3

A plus doesn't have to indicate a buy. Just because something is a bargain, doesn't mean you have to race out and buy it. ***

      *** eneloop batteries excluded.

      • He does have a point though.

Just checked the online catalogue and this deal isn't on there.

In the bigw in Geelong, it's the Colgate and not the oral b brush.

So I'm wondering if this is actually area specific as stated earlier on here and it seems some of us can't get it.

        • I did the same thing, checked the catalogue and nothing there. However, I searched for it in the online store, and it's displayed as $100 there. So I wouldn't worry. I will probably pick one up today as well, so I guess I'll know later for sure.

As for no one buying any, it only started today and people are working :p

EDIT: checked stock levels, and all nearby stores (it listed 10) are all out of stock or "low stock, call us".. so I'm not rating my chances of getting one very high. Maybe they are clearing them out permanently and just getting rid of a low amount of existing stock. A shame it is not in the local catalogue though, as it would have made price matching easier.

          https://www.bigw.com.au/beauty-health/dental-care/electric-t…

        • I called three local stores and scored the last one. Put it on hold but forgot to ask the price. Will figure out soon…..

        • Thank you :)

I had a look last night and they where at $200

Reading all the reviews, not sure if it is worth going for the 5000 and getting the sonic care instead.

          Damn reviews :)

          Thanks again for replying.

        • I used the top range sonic care for 6 years, and I am not going back after switching to IQ5000 (deal last year, similar price). So will get a new one for my family.

I think the brushhead makes a difference — I stick to FlossAction on IQ5000. FYI, I tried FlossAction on low end Oral B, or normal brushhead on IQ5000, both are failures.

  • No stock at highpoint

  • Hi,

All the ones near me say low stock, which probably means no stock.

I will walk over there shortly and have a look if it is available.

    Gabi

    • Low stock likely means around 3 or less (as my store says low stock but I called and that's how much were left). Good luck!

  • There was one more left at Redbank QLD when I went there at 12:00. Springfield Central had none.

  • +1

That was a waste of a walk.

They had 12 clear boxes, stating the had stock.

Took it to the counter (the guy wasn't interested, wanted to carry on playing with his samsung tablet) 10 mins later came back saying there was no stock.

I asked if he could check the stock in other stores, said not possible, wasn't interested and before I could say thank you, he walked off. :S

Then I thought I would go to the chemist shop as it says Price match anything. Go in there, have plenty in stock but they would not price match it. They phoned up the BIGW store and someone told them it was $199.00 so was accused of lying. I said please check on their website, they said the website could be different stock and would not price match it. She was rather rude (I am polite, well spoken, so no aggravation caused by me)

Don't really want to be driving 30-40 mins to the closest Big W store, will see if I can order online.

Crikey, didn't realise it would be so hard.

    Not a great day :(

    • She was rather rude (I am polite, well spoken, so no aggravation caused by me)

You should ask to speak to their manager and complaint about their staff are being rude to you. You must demanding an apology! Same goes to the BigW staff was playing their Samsung tablet while on working hours. Don't let them get away on poor customer service.

      • She was the manager at the store :s

I'm over it. The majority of my experience since moving to Australia is that most people tend to be nice and welcoming to me as an outsider :)

I'll have to get a cheaper deal until this comes up again.

Thanks for your input though, really appreciate it.

Let's hope some people get these awesome electric brushes :)

        • She was the manager at the store :s

In that case, you can complaint on BigW website.

Next time, get their full name if they claimed they're the manager of the store.

  • Picked one up at Chermside, Brisbane. It said "low stock" and shelf was empty. Figured I'd ask if they had any more in the back, and he actually managed to find one for me :)

  • I managed to price match it at Harvey Normans in Adelaide

    • wow really? normally HN would be the last place I ever go and price match… (nothing against them but their customer service is rather eccentric…)

      • I've priced match many things at HN because the local good guys were out of stock and too lazy to go to Officeworks.

        • yeah ic, i just didnt have that much of a positive experience with HN…

got told off when i asked for a good deal for a 1.5k TV and 2k fridge years ago, hence i only deal with the TGG nowadays…

  • I picked up the last one from Big W Garden City QLD tonight

  • 2 more left in Parabanks SA

  • No stock at Wagga Wagga, NSW.

  • +1

    Another day of fun.

Harvey norman would not price match the 5000 because it must be a mistake, since leaving the house this morning didn't realise they had put no stock.

Tried to then get them to price match the Philips healthy white and they would not do it because its an online deal and also because it's below their cost price.

Not supposed to be I guess :)

    • +1

Their price match is clearly non-existent

      • Apparently the IQ5000 cost price was 175 at Harvey Norman. Absolutely unwilling to budge on that.

    • I've heard that some Harvey Normans are more bloody-minded when it comes to price matching…don't give up with the first rejection…you could say you'll try the other stores which may cost you say $10 in petrol so offer them $10 more and save some time?

  • Seems like this was one of those deals put up as in-store only with very low stock nationwide used to draw customers into their stores. Not cool, Big W.

    • Same marketing tactics commonly used by DSE and Officeworks. That's why you should call to check stocks before going in.

      • Funny thing is, I did. they had 4.

Went in, said that to the guy, manager came over and said they should have not said that to you on the phone. Stock could be innacurate.

        Rubbish tactics

        • they had 4

You should have asked them to check on the shelves and make sure they have more than one unit in the box.

          Their computer system is unreliable.

        • But the person who answers would need to put down the phone, walk around the shop, look for the item, count the stock and walk back to the phone again… don't think too many 'customer service' would do that. Even if they did, and they told you they have x amount of stock. There is always a chance all those stock be sold out by the time you get there.
The only time when I phone a shop to check stocks is if the shop can actually put the item on hold (ie put it aside), and I can pick it up within 24 hours. I don't think BigW, DSE, Officeworks, Harvey Norman hold anything for their customers.

        • Big W Auburn held it for me for the day. They hid it in the fitting rooms until I came by. :D

  • I just picked one up today from robina.

  • I successfully price matched at the Harvey Norman home maker centre in Springvale Vic. Should still be one more unit on shelf for anyone keen

  • I did a price match at The Good Guys in Blacktown/Prospect NSW. Got the three units after I showed them the item from the catalogue.

I was able to get one unit from Auburn Big W but that was their last one.

Tried most of the Big Ws in Western Sydney and around Croydon and they were all out of stock so your best bet is to try for a price match.

Oh and I didn't hoard them to resell. I just know a lot of people with teeth.

    Birthday gifts.. check.

    Good luck all!

  • rockdell NSW bigw called me to pick up my order. got it just now but not sealed. checked and unused. so should be good. happy now

    • or so you think… stock boys get bored.

      • +1

        nope, but i think u r.

  • Went to Myer for Price Match and they won't do it as it is under their cost price (I was told that their cost price is about $140!). Then got it price matched at David Jones Highpoint. Just opened the ad on my mobile and showed it to them. Bought 2. Very happy.

    • Were those the last 2 left? David Jones's website states there are no stock available for click collect there or is that an error?

  • I think you either get a jobs worth, or someone that can help.

    Ridiculous.

HN are pants at price matching, they lost out on a total sale of around 9k from moi.

Well done to anyone who is getting those price matches :)

  • +1

got mine today from big w penrith.
About 3 weeks ago when i saw this thread i went in and they had no stock. they wrote my name down and said when they get stock in they'll call me.
Today (i got no call) i happened to be there for something else and noticed them on the shelf. I took one to the customer service desk and said i'd like this for $100 as when it was on special you had no stock and took my name down. 20 minutes later they could not find this book where my name was written but gave the toothbrush to me for the sale price of $100. (its $218 now).
Hopefully it does a good job now!
