    Took the plunge.
    Bought !!!
    Very happy Easter.,

Been waiting for a sale like this

  • Thanks OP, just went down and got one. Normally $199 the store guy was saying.

  • Is there a grout removal blade in the kit?

    • +1

      Yes

      • Thanks.

I saw an AEG one, same sort of thing but with interchangeable heads, came with 2 batteries a bag, charger and fewer accessory blades on clearance for $150 but with a five year warranty at Bunnings Hoppers Crossing recently. Older model of this one with lower capacity batteries (1.something Ah as opposed to 2.0 Ah. Good luck.

  • Can I use to angle cut the timber for pergola?

    • No thats petty heavy duty, cutting a solid timber post. You're better off with a circular saw or angle grinder. This thing does not rotate the blade, just ''shakes' the blade back and forth.

  • +1

This ryobi tool can also use the AEG multi tool heads, like angle drill, impact drivers ete etc. (AEG is owned by ryobi)

  • Thanks OP I wanted to buy a drill driver kit but works out the same if I buy this and the drill separate. My local Bunnings only had 5 left when I bought it this morning.

    • Drill driver kit has different batteries mate.

I recently had a dilema trying to work out which way to start off my Ryobi One set… and decided to go for the impact driver set (similar to the drill driver set).

The newer batteries are silver coloured and have a 'fuel guage' meter thing on them (handy to know when your batteries are getting low if you dont use them on a regular basis).

As I understand it the silver metered batteries are newer tech than the older black non meter ones (like what's in the kit the OP posted).

  • Does anyone know if $79 is a good price for the drill?
    http://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-cordless-compact-dr…

Also, the picture seems to include a charger, but it only says "Kit includes: 18V Multi-Tool with blade, 20 Pc Accessory Set, 2x Lithium batteries, storage bag"?

    • +1

Just called - it does include a charger if anyone else was wondering.

  • None left at Bayswater, Scoresby or Vermont South

  • Do the One+ batteries fit One tools?

    • +1

      Yes

    • Fits more than one tool :P

  • I bought this kit for $189 ages ago (I think) for the batteries for my drill :)

  • Had one for about 5 minutes. The lugs that hold the tool on came off within seconds of starting using it. Reviews around the net suggest we're not the only ones who had this happen.

Took it back and got the bosch one instead.

    • You did make sure the blade was tightened to the tool properly?

      • Of course. Anyone who uses power tools without ensuring everything is properly fastened beforehand is a fool.

There's a whole pallet load at Mentone, Victoria. Was about to pick one up but the build quality of the display unit has me worried.

  • I bought one in Toowoomba this morning, and am confused about the head. Pictures on the internet (and on youtube) show that you can twist the whole head around to the side. Not just reposition the blade, but turn the whole head. I can't seem to do that with this one. Those other ones have a grey button on the side, near the top. The one I bought doesn't. Am I just not seeing how to do it on mine?

Even one of the photos on the box it came in show the head twisted 90 degrees, but I can't see how to do it.

Did yours come with the newer version, black casing batteries like the one in the link?

      Also, your username…. o_- true?

      • Yep, black casing batteries like in the link. I don't understand what you mean about my username, sorry.

        • +2

          Dw :P

Thanks for the info. I also just realised that these are the cheaper, lower capacity version that Ryobi use to help with pricing kits at a competitive price. They are not the same as the higher quality 1.5ah ones with built in battery meter:

          http://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-1-5ah-lithium-batte…

        • Tub!

        • Batteries On my old set are only 1.4ah and these new ones are 1.3ah..

        • exactly right.

the black non meter batteries are inferior to the newer silver batteries available in some of the other kits.

you'll find the smaller low draw tools will come packaged with the older black batteries, but the bigger tools needing more power will come with the better batteries.

imo its best to go with the better battery start up packs, and just buy the skins you want.

    • Yes you can twist the head. If you lift the grey skin around the head, you'll see there are two black buttons to push (they should be pressed simultaneously to snap off the head unit)

  • Dam that's a great set.

The multi tool is a great device for them tight spots.

used it a few times to cut pipe with where a hacksaw would be a pain in the ass.
Every time I need a saw for a small job I grab this instead.

I'll try and convince the wife for this.

  • A set for $199. So super !

      One for each hand?

      • Edward multitool hands.

  • Can confirm Fountain Gate has tonnes.
    Scoresby is out.
I picked one up, will help with the bathroom reno I'm about to undertake!
    Cheers OP!

  • How does it compare to the Ozito one from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/114257. Mine is still brand new in the box. Might get this one if it's a better deal.

  • Thanks OP. bought one. now what to do with it? lol. o-O

    • Lol… Your username says it all doesn't it. Who cares what it's for as long as it's a bargain…

  • -1

Thanks OP. Needed a new battery for other Ryobi tools and this was just a bonus.

    Cheers

  • Lots left at Carseldine. Happened to see them randomly, but didn't buy any. Already have a bunch of Bosch tools and batteries, so figured it's probably more convenient to just stick with them for me.

  • Personally I don't think it'd come close to the Bosch or Makita for power or durability… but being cordless, having 2 batteries, and the accessories kit, makes this a bloody good deal for anyone other than a full time chippie!!!

  • 1.3Ah is too small for this tool to do anything useful. It will chew though battery quickly. You either go for at least 2.6Ah or corded version for multitools. I find them versatile but only for light jobs. For $99, its a thumbs up.

  • multi-tool performance, like many others tools, depends greatly on quality blades. Putting some good Bosch/Fein type blades on it makes a big difference. I've used this tool and think its great value.

  • Can we interchange the head on this tool? like add a screwdriver attachment shown in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOyBsfcIX-s at 38 sec mark? does bunnings have this attachment?

    • Yes, those are the AEG heads I was talking about. I'm using an aeg 3/8 ratchet head on my ryobi tool. Ryobi company also owns AEG.

  • Maribyrnong did not even stock them. Altona got a few left. My friend and I got one each :)

  • Notting hill store has 6 now less mine :-)

  • Recent chat to a tiler suggests that for removing old grout and glue from tiles you should look at something else. He had one and there's not enough power and the blades go blunt quite quickly. At the same time as this deal there has been a Bosch green run out model at Bunnings. Corded and slightly fewer accessories but with a nice three shelf case. Also at $99 but a much sturdier unit.

  • +1

There's an influx of multi-tools, I don't recall seeing anything like it 6 years ago, it was a pain in the butt to undercut door jambs while laying floor boards.

A couple of 3A batteries would have been ideal, but for the price, batteries and charger already cost that much if not more. So quite a decent deal as a one off tool set.

    • It was patented by Fein and the patent ran out and now all the powertool companies join the party. Same principle as oscillating sanders.

  • +4

Actually you can change/turn the head easily on this one. If you lift the grey skin around the head, there are two black buttons to push (they should be pressed simultaneously to snap off the head unit).

    http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/67287/22343/p1060034.jp…

    • great. they have made it terribly hard to swap heads. i can't press the two black buttons simultaneously. maybe i need bigger hands.

      • +1

They are very lightly tensioned so two small screw drivers will be enough.

        • +1

And when you pull off the head you can then use the AEG multi base attachments on it. I have the 3/8" ratchet driver on mine, and am getting the right angle drill head soon too.

          http://www.bunnings.com.au/aeg-ratchet-attachment-_p6230154

I've just bought a second ryobi now too. I got the last one today at box hill, they are expecting 20 more kits arriving from other stores. Get in quick this is a great deal.

        • Going to be a happy day when we see some AEG/JobMax heads on OZB.

Are there any other brands that would work with the Ryobi One+ multitool?

  • +1

Cool, I was just about to look at doing the grout in my shower so this comes at a good time. Picked one up.

  • Got one, thanks OP. One left in Mandurah, WA

  • Rouse Hill still has over 10 in stock

  • Very limited in Perth metro, traveled all the way to Harrisdale as they were supposed to have 6 in stock, only to find 1 sitting all on it's lonesome with the big $99 sign stuck to it in a promotional trolley. Sign said "was $149" by the way.

  • Still about 5 left at Bunnings Mascot. They are just outside the power tools area.

  • Anyone jnow if anywhere has any left?

  • +1

Oxley in Brisbane has 3 as of 2:20pm, 4/06/2014.
