No free retractable knife with this one as it was with the Total Tools Deal back in November-2024 but still a good value deal if you are in market for a chisel set.

  • I got them for $10 with free "Stanley" knife previously.

I've only used them to chisel away a stuck piece of branch in an older model of an Ozito silent crusher.

The tips are soft and came off and started rounding. Unless these have changed somehow - e.g. different material, different factory, avoid unless you want to chisel balsa and the like.

    • Even 20+ years ago Stanley chisels were known to not hold a sharp edge for long.

  • +1

These are not quality chisels. Not even for beginners. This is one of those items where a poor tradesman can blame the quality of their tools.

These fold under Tas Oak. A medium density hardwood. You'll spend more time sharpening them than using them.

Stanley is not a good brand anymore. Since they merged and created Stanley Black & Decker in 2010, they outsourced production and lost their quality tools branding and went to cheap consumer crap.

    • I'll agree their cheap tools can be crap, but they still make some good tools too.

Their FatMax Thru-Tang Chisel Set has been excellent, though I can't really say how it compares to other higher priced chisels
