Very useful item (I use these things daily at work, save so much time) but a lot more than what we pay for them. From IJK they're only $25 and even that is just their regular price (http://ijk.com.au/branch/ijk/product_info.php?manufacturers_…). MSY sell them for $15 (Ritmo CD-735). Ebay probably has a tonne of these for about ~$20 shipped.

Shipping is $6 so it's $34 delivered. If it were something like $25 delivered it wouldn't be a bad deal.

    • Sweet, been after this and for $15 pick up at MSY for the Ritmo I can't go wrong!
      Cheers for the heads up.

Just a quick Q for you seeing as you use these daily.
Can I simply pull out the power plug from a IDE 3.5" drive once it has been ejected from my desktop (Mac!)
Or do I have to switch off the power to the power brick first?
Reason being I have seen one variation of this adaptor set up that has a built in ON/OFF switch inline
between the brick and the mains power.

Just worried about arcing if power is still on, but it would be a pain to get under the desk each time i want to swap a drive!

      any help appreciated

      cheers

      • Hi mate,

"Can I simply pull out the power plug from a IDE 3.5” drive once it has been ejected from my desktop (Mac!)"

I believe the answer is yes. Safely remove it (or drag it to the trashcan in your case) and without shaking the drive gently remove the plug. I never switch off the power to the power brick first and so far fingers crossed haven't had any issues, and I give the unit extensive use daily at work. A built in ON/OFF switch would be a lot better but I haven't had any issues with arcing myself.

        • cheers mate

  • Yeah, I bought one from an eBay store last year for around $20. As cyssero says, they're VERY handy if you're swapping drives and/or copying data regularly.
BTW, I've not noticed a trader that has the confidence to put a StaticIce link on their own web pages before… Impressive!

    • Yep, IJK are a great mob.. couldn't think of a single IT company that has better or more reliable service than them. They do same-day Sydney deliveries, doesn't get much better than that!

  • US$12.90 - $16 at DealExtreme. But you also need a power adaptor to accomodate a US plug.

  • Got mine from ebay (exactly same - new, incl power pack and delivery from Hong Kong) for less than $15 a couple months ago. So NO DEAL.

    • do you have a link for that purchase
have seen them for less than $15 as you mentioned but "without" the power cable.

      • Power cable is the regular "kettle cord" (IEC cable) that your computer/monitor/TV uses, you should have a few lying around the house if you deal with computers at all.
