Tokyo Return ex Melb $567, OOL $567, CNS $467 w/ Jetstar

120

Hey guys,

Jetstar is having a stunning sale with plenty of destinations available. One that stood out for me was these return flights to Tokyo during the later months of the year. My previous Japan deal I posted got some feedback that included that June/July was a terribly Humid time of year. So these dates are from July until December. I Went to Japan two years ago during the September/October holidays and can vouch for the pleasant weather and great fun that Japan is.

Travel Period: 29 Apr - 11 Dec 2014

Booking period: Today - 21 April 2014

Some Dates:

2nd September to 19th September

MEL - TYO only $567 return
OOL - TYO only $567 return
CNS - TYO only $467 return

  • I think Jetstar just removed the expiry on this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/139319 but a good deal nonetheless.

    • Thanks TA! Didn't know you had to expire the previous deal to post another one.

      • No, that's not what I meant. I believe that Jetstar extended the expiry on this fare beyond the original April 7.

        • I see what your saying now. My previous Japan post was during their new routes sale which only included dates for June/July (a very bad time of year to visit apparently). This is a new sale for Easter which includes dates from September through to early December.

This sale has much better dates for those looking for a holiday in Japan, to add it also includes two extra departure points, those being OOl and CNS which weren't available previously.

  • I thought Gold Coast to Osaka flights were being cancelled from May. How come I can still book till the end of the year (not talking about sale dates). Also why no sale for GC to Osaka?

It's only the direct Osaka flights that are stopping from May. These flights are via Cairns.

      • Thanks for clearing that up. I hope they have some Gold Coast to Osaka deals sometime aswell and not just Tokyo ones.

  • dates :)

  • this is interesting, after a quick check, dates are available in Nov. anyone has any suggestions - Tokyo or Osaka for a holiday, say a week or so. thanks OP for the post

    • Good weather, although cold. I would go to both (which I plan on doing next year). The longer the better.

      • Or the more times the better - different seasons, different regions rather than try to see it all in 1 go.

Transport within Japan can be expensive, so reducing travel can reduce costs a lot.

Late November is a good time to see the colourful Japanese maple (momiji) & Autumn leaves. http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2014.html

I prefer Osaka. It's more laid back and tourist friendly, or just friendly in general. It's also smaller, but has as much to do so easier/quicker to get around. Kyoto is also about 30min by local train or 15min by shinkansen (bullet train). But really depends on what you're looking for.

I want to go to Sapporo and Osaka in September/October but deals from Brisbane aren't great on the return flight… Still might get tickets now, probably won't get cheaper.

    Thanks OP. I love Japan.

during the September/October holidays and can vouch for the pleasant weather

Not last year. Had to cancel plans to attend an amazing international Arts festival on the Inland Sea islands in late October. Rail lines were closed due to flooding in Kyoto (affecting areas way beyond Kyoto & lines like the Shinkansen) after a typhoon in mid-September. 76 or more died near Tokyo, and it felt like I narrowly missed destruction in my Inn during that typhoon. Typhoon season seems to be lasting longer & later in the year.

Met a lot of tourists with disrupted trips. But there is always so much to do in Japan, if you are curious & flexible in your plans. [A free workshop in the traditional Japanese comedy/storytelling of Rakugo (in English) filled in a rainy day. Walking around an historic park a week later, many people spotted me from the TV coverage of my humble attempt :-)]

But go anyway & enjoy ;-)

  • Thanks OP, just booked a flight from Mel to Tokyo for $567 in Aug/Sept
