Does it have a plug on it or it requires a sparky to install?

    • Usually flood light item did not have a plug :))

So, it will need to be installed by a licensed electrician.

However, will any licensed electrician in Australia install this lamp?

        • Or: will need to be installed by a backyard no qualifications electrician, because it's so easy :p

        • will need to be installed by a backyard no qualifications electrician, because it's so easy

I never said it was not easy to install.

Doing it your way is illegal and dangerous and will void your insurance cover.

        • No one will ever find out, and its not dangerous if you do it right. I also don't think any e'lectrician will have a problem installing LED lights, they are relatively safe

        • +1

What does " relatively safe" mean. That implies there is still a risk.

        • What does " relatively safe" mean

          Not safe.

        • good one m8

  • Sorry, just seen that it is quoted in USD - Ignore.

  • 800Lm is not really much for a "floodlight". LED floodlights are more typically 40W and over 3,000Lm. This would do a small area I suppose.

    • Usually this item will be Bright enough for medium sized garden

      • +1

Usually bright enough? What do you mean it sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't I want my flood light to work all the time not usually work.

Also 10W for 800Lm is very low. It means this is a cheap poor quality LED that runs hot

  • does this have Australian approval? at this price I doubt it, usually the cheaper version have cheap power supplies even with the earth cut off.

    • This item price is belong to deal price so why is looking cheaper now . As long as within 110-220V ,there will be no problem for using :) thx .

      • He said does it have Australian Approval?

The only problem you mean is that it sometimes will light up the garden or car spot?

      • This item price is belong to deal price so why is looking cheaper now . As long as within 110-220V ,there will be no problem for using :) thx .

The question was - "does this have Australian approval?".

If not, it will not be lawful to install and no electrician would take the risk(s) of doing so. Also, if anything 'went wrong' I doubt that any insurer would 'pay-out'.

    • Of course not.
Normally I'd prefer a 12V version, so I can use my own trusted power supply.
But in this case it will be mounted outdoors, out of reach, so no big risk of fire etc.
Might be worth checking that the body is earthed properly.

  • got one worked out to $11.98 aus. when I tried to buy 2 it was going to cost $13 EACH so I reduced it to one.

  • +2

Rep, is this earthed properly? Please confirm.

    • is this earthed properly?

One picture reveals three wires. Blue, Green, and Black. As to being "properly earthed"….????

      • +1

That picture seems to be generic one they use.

Their 20W and 30W units seem to only show 2 wires:

        • If it is a good enough power supply, no earth is needed.
But if you do not trust the insulation or isolation, its easy to attach an earth to one of the case screws. (It is all metal, yes?)

  • Thanks Rep, Purchased 4. Hope there good.

      Hope there good.

      Huh? They are - they're.

  • If the LED has a life of 35000 hours, should the warranty be 4 years?
    35000/(365*24)

    • NO, for exactly the same reason that a car lasts longer than it's warranty period.

  • f the LED has a life of 35000 hours, should the warranty be 4 years?

What is the 'difference'? How would one make a warranty claim? Would it be worth the cost of return to a room in Hong Kong?
