Love your choice of link picture! I'm sure no one here still has any bitter feelings towards Kogan after their Rubik's Cube deal!!!

    • ;)

    • Ooh, I remember that deal. Was the cube genuine Rubik's brand, or any good? I was telling people to stay away from that and the 'authentic Rubik's brand' cubes and getting one of the 'high-quality' Chinese knock-off cubes (Dayan, FangShi, ShengShou, etc) instead.

      • Knock off… And a pretty $#!tty one at that. I sent off a nice email regarding copyright infringements, got my money back, and gave it to my 2 year old!!!

Do you hate your two year old?

There are some great cubes out there (just check out any speed cubing site for recommendations). There are a whole bunch of reliable Chinese suppliers who will get you a nice cube with a few weeks for less than $10 delivered that blows the socks of not only an original Rubik's cube but these terrible knockoffs too.

I don't think the two year old really minds if he/she is not using a perfectly lubricated speed cube. They probably look at the pretty colours and proceed to smack it on things.

I think Kogan learned their lesson from last time, which is why it's only "Inspired by Rubik's Cube". As Daabido said, if you want to get into cubing, avoid these ones and check out the Chinese suppliers. I have a DaYan Zhanchi and a ShengShou, but I've heard good things about the Moyu Sulong and the ShengShou Aurora.

        • LoL, exactly! And I can't say I originally bought it to solve in 5 seconds, I just wanted a Rubik's Cube!

        • @smokenmirraz did you just put a tracked link in there….?

  • Universal charger + 4xAA + 4xAAA batteries $35 delivered.

I know OzBargain's favourite charger is the La Crosse BC-700 and rechargeable batteries are Eneloops but I am curious about this because the manual claims single/indepedent battery charging (the main thing I am after), deltaV detection, microprocessor controlled, and other features including Alkaline! I was not aware this was possible - is it even safe? And, I cannot find reviews. Opinions?

    • Yeah I heard about alkaline charging back in the day but nothing much ever came of it

    • I have a Rezap charger which I have used for alkalines. It's best for topping up lightly used batteries, trying to charge a flat alkaline doesn't really work. Success varies between brands, some hold the charge well, others just leak. I've been using the Varta's from Bunnings in it from time to time and they generally hold the charge well (and no leaks so far)

That said, these days with LSD Ni-Mh not worth the hassle trying to recharge alkalines.

  • Puzzle Cube (Inspired by Rubik's Cube)

Love it. "Inspired by". I don't think selling something that is exactly the same as the original passes as "inspired by". Knock-off is much more accurate.

  • These are pretty good: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Fujitsu-AA-AAA-NiHM-Charger-Mobil…

They do the 2000mAh battery and charger bundle for $4.50 cheaper. Not as many batteries as the Kogan deal, but useful as it doubles up as a powerbank for your mobile phone and accessories (bluetooth headphones, etc).

    • Thanks for the suggestion but description says "Charges 2 or 4 AA or AAA NiMH cells (charging 1 or 3 cells is not possible)." and I wonder if I want to charge an odd number, I could simply add a cell of unknown/different dis/charge level and it will avoid overcharge damage and automatically/efficiently supply different amount of charge? I am guessing no.

  • Are the LED downlights a good price?

  • I'm all over the Orgasmic Head Massager… oh wait its already sold out.
    DARN!

    • Yes, that particular deal is 'spent'

Thanks OP, a few interesting products, but I balked at "leaves warehouse in 3-4 weeks". That Kogan sure is one shonky bugger, none of what's for sale has probably even been manufactured yet…in the age of instant gratification, you'd think they'd know better.

It's been manufactured, he just has to source the cheapest deal he can get from different Chinese warehouses stock!

      • Heh, like everyone who imports from china, yet somehow he's done it in such a way that no one actually minds. Our art least not enough people mind to cause him any trouble anyway.
