Have been eyeing this tablet after playing with it at JB Hifi. I was dumbfounded at how quickly it ran the full blown Windows 8.1 and I have seen people docking it and tying it up to multiple screens and using it as a desktop.

The only downside is that there is no way to charge it if you use an aftermarket dock because it has no docking option. For those of you wanting a powerful 8" tablet to use as a desktop have a look at the Lenovo ThinkPad 8 - it has the option of a OneLink dock that includes Ethernet, USB 3.0, HDMI and Audio.

Anyway -

JB Hifi only sell the 64GB version and it's $459.
Ebay had a deal going for $299 on the low end as a group buy in this thread:

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/136727 However that's without the free case and they only take paypal.

So on the 64GB easily the best deal @ $399 with the free case. 32GB more expensive with free case.

Other options on the 64GB include Windows 8.1 Pro as a selection.

All units come with a copy of Office Home and Student 2013 loaded, however if software is upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro the Office is not included.

The Free Case offer expires 27th March. The $50 / $60 discounts expire 20th March.

Sad how expensive these tablets are here.

I bought a 64GB one last week off Newegg (shipped to US address) for $270 AU.

Late last year there was a crazy special on 32GB ones I think for $99 each.

OP, can you or anyone else confirm "All units come with a copy of Office Home and Student 2013 loaded, however if software is upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro the Office is not included""……are you sure??
so this can never be upgraded to Windows 8.1 without paying for an office suite again so seriously who wants to would want to buy it and having to pay another lot of some $95 or more for an office suite again….does not make any ssnse to me??

    • These are already running Windows 8.1, not sure where that bs line came from.

      • i think he meant "PRO" ? is that right?

        • Yes PRO - This doesn't mean you can't upgrade it yourself. What it means is - if you select Windows 8.1 PRO as an extra upgrade during CUSTOMISATION - then and only then will they remove the Office License.

I would imagine this is because of the image it normally ships out with being updated / or there may be costs involved.

So - in conclusion - if you get the one with regular Windows 8.1 and NOT pro - you can probably use a program to get your Office serial number and upgrade to 8.1 Pro separately to ordering it shipped with Pro from Dell.

        • As opposed to selecting Windows 8.1 (NOT PRO)

They all come with Windows 8.1 which ever way you look at it.

        • the office code comes as a separate license sticker in the box

theres really no use for PRO version

        • Can you confirm this? I was certain Office was pre-laoded on the regular Windows 8.1 selection for any tab

  • $10 cheaper for buying separately 32GB version from the ebay deal at $299 (still available) and folio case from dell for $40 = $339.
