AOC All-in-One 21.5” Full HD Android PC - $249.00 + $13.23 Shipping to Brisbane @ COTD

150

EDIT: It's still live. No idea how long it will last. The timer keeps resetting when it expires.

Same as this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/125198 except this time it's $120 cheaper. Shipping seems to vary from $11.53 to $23.69 to major capitals. Cheapest on Static Ice is $354 plus shipping. I've just bought one to play around with and used one of my vouchers from the technothon a few weeks back that effectively provided me free shipping.

AOC also have a promotion running (http://register.aocmonitorap.com/newsletter/movie_ticket_201…) to 31 March 2014 to redeem 2x Hoyts movie tickets with the purchase of this item 'from an authorized participating AOC computer dealer within Australia ONLY between 01/02/14 and close of business 31/03/14'. No idea if that includes COTD but I'll have a crack anyway.

  • Not bad. I wonder if it's possible that the touchscreen could be used for Windows touch input as well. If it could, this could essentially become a reasonably cheap 21.5 inch touch monitor with standalone media capabilities.

    • The above says "Can function as touch-screen monitor for Windows PCs" and searching the model (A2272PWHT) says the same…….can't find a video of it in use though……

    • Yes, it can. It only supports 2-touch though, so you wouldn't get the full suite of Win 8 gesture control but you'll get swipe/pinch/rotate control. That's enough for me. I'm thinking about using this to replace an ancient touch monitor I have set up on a jukebox at home.

      • +1

sounds cool, I wonder if it works with Linux as a touch screen….

  • That's awesome. I also see 4 holes at the back, which I assume is for VESA.

You can transform this into a touchscreen All-in-one PC by mounting a Intel NUC or Gigabyte Brix on the rear.

    • Yep, spot on. I thought about the NUC myself. That might be a future upgrade. It might also end up on a VESA mount in the kitchen. I'm going to play around with it and find a happy home somewhere for it depending on how it performs.

  • Looks like optical touch. You'll be able to use it while wearing gloves, but in my experience (Dell SX2210T) can cause touches to be delayed, jumpy, and sometimes missed altogether. It also picks up when large bugs land on it, really strange.

    • Yes, confirmed that the manual says it is 'Infrared Optical Structure' for the touchscreen.

    • Post removed.

    • You could try the Dell S2240T if you need 10 point touch (capacitive display); got one of these at my workplace and it's pretty kickass. The response rate however is pretty bad at 12ms, which makes it unsuitable for PC gaming.

  • My brother got one of these from catch of the day for about $369 months ago. He has just got a auto refund of $50 from them as it does not have 8gb of storage but 1gb and 4gb of internal sd.

It seems strange that they are selling it again with the wrong specs.

    • Interesting at $199 it becomes more tempting. Is the internal SD card easily upgradable?

The alternative is buying a cheap LCD screen and a set-top box.

      • SD card works fine. it is in a poor location , under lip on the back.
It is a deal still as it is an IPS screen.

      • Don't forget that this is a touch screen and not simply an LCD with Android. As ziltch points out, it's also an IPS panel, which will attract a premium.

    • What's your brother think of it? How does he use it?

      • He is using it as a android web browser at the moment. He plans to make it into a 2nd monitor , just have not got a cable yet.

He has noticed many android apps will not install as it has no gyro/accelerometer/gps.

Overall he does like it. If you think of it as a monitor that also does other things it is great.

  • I'm interested but can't find any reviews online. Can anyone comment, please? Offer expires in less than 1 hour, thanks.

    • Countdown clock on site now tells us deal has just under a day to go.

      • Yep, for some reason (maybe deal was extended) mine counted down to zero and when I reloaded/looked again it is now showing >22 hours, thanks.

  • I bought one of these over a week ago for same price (COTD), still waiting for it to arrive though. Plan on using it as a bigger touch monitor for Surface Pro ($539 from JB, price match on MS student deal) All up still works out cheaper than an AIO destktop, plus the added bonus of a surface to use as tablet. Just hope it works

  • Looks like a good price. Even though I don't need any more PCs or tablets in my life, I couldn't resist the price. So… bought two. :-) Would be good as coffee table electronic photobooks… I thought to myself… Further justified by those potential movie passes… worth around $24 each, I suppose…

    • Ha ha. I like your form. In true Ozbargain style, you always save more the more you buy! Now you've got me thinking about buying another one. It would make a great digital photo frame for the price. Guaranteed to be much better than the crap you buy at Dick Smith.

  • Thanks got one too. Hope it's as good as it's hyped hyped up to be :P

Don't suppose this will run off a power pack? Or Or of there is a battery built built to it??

    • Not sure if there is a battery built-in. It's not sold as a tablet and they don't talk about battery life on the AOC website….

      • Well…. Guess we'll have to wait till next week to find out.

    • Nope. No battery.

  • It says almost gone but the countdown clock appears reset for another 24 hours.

  • Still there, saying "ALMOST GONE"

  • Yep, has anyone received there order by any chance, comment/review, please? I played around in-store with a HP slate 21 on the weekend which I think looks very similar and found it pretty nice. Still struggling to find a killer use case for myself though.

  • Got mine today, took less than 5min to set up! Is super easy to use - the in-laws are using it to access news sites. Has decent wireless coverage (is located +10m from router with several walls in between). Am happy with it so far…

  • Yeah, I thought the 2-point touch responsiveness/usefulness seemed fine from my short test on the HP unit, thanks.

  • The speakers are quite piddly on this unit. Is anyone using a soundbar with theirs? Found this but not sure if it will work as it doesnt appear to have an analog in…

  • Also, there doesn't seem to be any way to hide application icons or create folders to put them in like on normal android tablets/phones.

    Does anyone know a workaround?

    • just drag an app icon onto another icon on your home screen and it should automatically be grouped together inside an unnamed folder.

      • Hmm yeah but I was thinking more of organising them in the applications screen, or even choosing to "hide" some apps like you can on a regular android device.

  • Hi Op, the original link does not work anymore, you can see the page, but when clicked on the add to cart button, it produces an error. The new link is
