Looks like alot of effort :/

    • for 33c per upload, yep.

  • Heh I thought it's getting a massive feed for the likes of Turn It In or other plagiarism detection.

    • lol TurnItIn. I'll never miss that a single bit.

One of the more interesting rackets I'm aware of is a variant of this.

      1. Student 1 is concerned about their essay containing plagiarism.

      2. Student pays small fee to upload it to a plagiarism checking service on the web so when it goes into Turnitin, they'll have more confidence.

      3. Company provides report on the content in the essay and student submits it.

      4. Company then has access to an essay which they can then tweak and sell through a 'paper mill' website to Student 2, deriving more fees.

Student 1 is unaware of this transaction with Student 2 and the company gets to derive double income on many essays. Turnitin can detect the match to the Student 1's paper anyway because the company selling it to Student 2 may not change it very much. Lather, rinse, repeat. Even though Student 1 is not involved in the second transaction, it's possible people are left with the impression they sold/gave their paper directly to Student 2.

I think most university allow you submit your document to turnitin more than one time to check your 'originality' rating.

        • I can confirm. Turn-It-In allows for you to submit your prose as MANY times as you like, each will be supplied with a similarity score until the due date.

Lol, I have never heard of this during my entire degree.

As if university students aren't broke enough already they'd pay for pointless extras like this.

  • Would be awesome if I could just drop off a few archive folders and USB sticks at JB and get a $20 gift card from them.

Don't waste your time on this lol. They will find a way to deny one of your documents. Also, they dont even recognise my postcode when entering my address to redeem the gift card. I should have known better :p

  • i think they have increased their costs. Its now 800 points for $10 gift cards.

I wonder who actually pays for such a service. Took me 5 mins of fiddling with css to get past their paywall.

All University resources are copyright and anyone sharing the information can face legal charges. The notice is placed on the front page of every uni released notes. Mostly uni turns a blind eye for students sharing notes but if people start making a profit out of it, you may be subjected to legal actions.
    You have been warned

  • 800 points is too much effort for any benefit.
