Logitech VX Nano Notebook/Laptop Mouse - $45 at OfficeWorks

260

Hi,

Just bought myself a Logitech VX Nano Mouse from Officeworks, by price matching with EB Games.
$49.95 is the original EB Games price
minus 5% for pricematch = $47.45
minus 5% for Coles Group discount = $45.08

Im sure you could pricematch at similar stores such as JB or Dick Smith.
Cheapest price on staticice is $68, but I guess that is irrelevant as EB has it for cheaper.

  • The additional 5% Coles Group discount is irrelevant, as that is not available to the public. Unless of course you are volunteering to help OzBargainers purchase to utilise the extra 5% discount.

  • The EB Games price is freshly made gooey mudcake, the Officeworks price match is frosty icing.

    A delicious deal.

  • wow is this the same one i saw at DSE for ~$150 a few weeks back?

    EDIT:

    yeh, i guess it is - http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/4a30cee3103e941…

  • Great find!

  • Owned a VX Nano. Couldn't stand it because the scroll wheel can't function as a button, and the button just below wasn't an ergonomic substitute.

  • Anyone tried one of the Logitech bluetooth mice? As far as battery life, response etc.. (and has a bargain for one :)

    • They're not bluetooth. They are wireless based on a 2.4 ghz radio spectrum.

Response time is very quick. I can't tell the difference between using my corded mouse VS my VX Revolution (the bigger brother to the Vx Nano) and the battery lasts for about a month or two (depends on what kind of battery you're using, rechargeables tend to drain faster).

My only gripe with these 2 mice is the middle button, they're quite stiff and requires some pressure to click them.

      • @scrimshaw - Don't take this the wrong way (I hate trying to convey tone in plain text) but i think bamzero knew that it wasn't a bluetooth mouse and that's why he asked for a separate bargain for one but your insight on this product was insightful none-the-less.

and yes, we're only too familiar with the vx revolution: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/11293 - which i never received my refund for!

I was actually considering getting one of these price-matched but having read this feedback, i might stick with my MS "basic notebook mouse", thanks :)

  • Thank you as im looking to buy those mouse for my new laptop :)

  • Great price! I paid $70 for mine a couple of months ago.

It also comes with a desktop extension which can be used by other USB devices (I think the original intend was to extend the range of the nano receiver in case you have it plugged to the back of a tower under the desk).

My only complain is that the included pouch doesn't fit VX Nano properly, feels like it was made for VX Revolution (the top is at an angle).

If there's an EB store near you, it's better to signup to their newsletter and get 15% off.

I've had one of these mice for about 18mths, i love it (aside from the fact the left button started to go, and it's currently in for warranty repair. 3yr warranty FTW!).

My mum got one too. I paid $77, and then my mum paid $75 about 15mths ago. From Surpass in Brisbane, cheapest in Aus at the time i think.

The cheapest i've seen them at is $60 at MSY, ~$57 officeworks pricematch. I cringe when i see them for $130 or even $150 at JB Hi-Fi, Harvey's, or Dick Smith.

    I use to have a Logitech V270 bluetooth mouse, which was good because no usb receiver, but i changed to the VX Nano because;
    1. It uses 2xAAA batteries, so it's much lighter than the bluetooth mice which use 2xAA batteries. 2xAAA batteries provide heaps of use before needing replacement/recharging.
    2. It has nice side indentations, and rubber grip, so it's easy to control (V270 had no indentations or rubber on the sides which equalled sore pinky finger after extended use)
    3. Extra buttons, great for copy and paste, and internet back button.
    4. No occasional bluetooth connection issues
    5. Laser sensor

The micro receiver i leave in the usb port and forget about it, even when putting my laptop in it's sleeve.
The pouch for the mouse is good too i reckon.

    • gee, now i don't know whether to go for it or not - very mixed reviews regarding usability

I love this mouse. If I didn't have one already (paid $75), I'd be buying this deal. It doesn't compare ergonomically to full-sized mice, but if you're looking for a laptop mouse, it's definitely excellent. In response to an earlier comment, no you can't use the wheel as a middle button, but I think the click and freewheel more than makes up for it.

The zip up pouch is an excellent inclusion, though admittedly just a little bit bigger than it needs to be, but still very usable.

As also mentioned above, they include a USB extender so that you can place the USB receiver on top of your desk for a great signal, which is something that the VX revolution didn't even include.

  • that link for EB comes up to the home page and I cant find the mouse on the EB site! HELP!

  • damn it i cant find the EB page. seems that's a mistake and fixed up already?

  • i just rang blacktown EB, they said they've got one left but that one's being transferred to a different location cos another customer asked for it. WHO BAGGED MY VX MOUSE!!!

search google for ebgames logitech vx nano mouse, but instead of clicking the link, click "cached" on the bottom right of the google link.

i managed, with difficulty, to convince carlton to price match it for me. i printed it out yesterday, brought the print out today, talked to 2 staff plus the duty manager, AND brought my gf in to press them into caving in to my demands haha

btw they tried checking online for the link, and then used the excuse that "the price on eb is trade and save only" (bs, only for games)

      • is carlton still doing it?

        • the manager was reluctant but tamable. they've got 3 left i think at 11am. i told her it was on clearance at eb due to being a 2yrold model. go give it a shot

    Deal appears to be over.

Didn't last long, print out the cached link and take it into OfficeWorks and you may get lucky, very lucky. My local OW always rings the store to check on price, and availability.
If you do attempt to get OW pricematch, i suggest you take the printout along with mouse to the checkout, and don't go to find someone from techworks cause they will investigate it. Checkout operator will probably still call a techworks guy, but maybe you'll get lucky.

    • which store was this?

      • OW at Milton, Brisbane

    • My experience is that OW always check the competitor's CURRENT web page to begin with (which is fair enough) but as JoshDude says, you may be lucky,, very lucky. You never know until you ask.
      \_/7

  • thanks for that. I got two from HN and OW respectively by using marchup. The HN offered me a marchup price of $42, and the price from OW is just $39.9 when I showed the NH receipt.

  • Thanks for the great find, got 2 from OW Glebe today for $47.50 each at noon.
There were still stocks from EB Hornsby and Wetherill Park when they were checking with EB.
JB hifi Leichhardt wasn't very professional and didn't want to price match cuz it's below their cost price.

    oh and love the mouse!
One of the best laptop mouse on the market with nice features and extras like space to tuck away the receiver in the mouse, usb extension cord for desktop use, pouch.

  • i bought one with price match in OW friday morning, waited 2 hours for EB to open and check the price, it's a great mouse as i have a VX for almost one year.

Picked 2 up from EB at Indooroopilly, Brisbane today for $49.95ea.

I stopped off at office works, and i rang Indro first and the guy said they have none, then i rang another couple of stores later, which also had none, but one of the stores checked the stock levels all over Brisbane and told me that Indro does have 2 in stock. So i just bought them from EB, couldn't be bothered spending $5 in petrol to drive back to OW at Milton, not worth it. Besides when i was there i looked for the Nano and saw none on the shelf, so maybe they had no stock anyway.

I'm stoked because i also rang up to check on my warranty repair/replacement of my original VX Nano, and i was told that the supplier had issue a credit, and the store didn't have any stock of the Nano, so they would just give me a cash refund. So i got $77 refund, and paid $50 for a new one. :)

    • which eb did you get it at in the end?
