Could try officeworks 5% price match/beat guarantee for $84.65

  • Any idea what model number drives are enclosed?

    • Not off the top of my head but it's definitely been asked and answered before if you search and let us know, please. Thanks.

        Model: ST2000DM001

According to the reviews on DSE website, this HDD has power problems and ranked only one star!

I just don't trust Seagate anymore since every single one of the external hard drives I have by them (I have 5 - I bought them cos they were so cheap and didn't learn my lesson until now -_-) has failed at some point or other in the last 3 years

      • +2

I agree as well. Had a multiple failures within a short time frame and even the RMA units haven't lived long.. 5 other ppl at work have experienced failures with Seagate ranging from 5 days to 1 year.

Mind you 14 years ago I had bad experienced with WD but now they are ok.

        Interesting read - http://blog.backblaze.com/2014/01/21/what-hard-drive-should-…

        • RIP Samsung

  • Model: ST2000DM001

  • Thanks for the specific find, but it's pretty much a dupe of ::

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/135584 and the one you pointed out.

Three deals with the same code :)

Yeah, I reviewed the offer and the 1-day discount seems to apply only to selected products not all drives & phones and the only decent/best deal I could find was this one so I thought it worth highlighting with another deal and by the sounds of it voters agree :-) thanks.

I googled it and reviews are mixed

    http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/288005-32-seagate-barracud…

    Amazon has > 2300 reviews… at 4 stars…
    http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Barracuda-3-5-Inch-Internal-ST…

So it cant be all that bad.

    • Thinking the same, was about to head out to Office works. Admittedly you don't jump on review sites to rave about a portable hard drive that works, so you’re likely to see failures . Might give this one a miss.

The reviews on dicksmith and officeworks websites are pretty bad.

The code TAKE10OFF doesn't work for the 2.5" Toshiba 2TB Harddisk?

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/usb-hard-drives/discover-one-of-…

    • yeah :(

    • +1

Correct - that has been tried. It is not listed in the offer.

    • So 'cheap' of them :>

At the end of shit creek, you'll find is Sea-gate.

  • Thx, missed the other post.

  • Not sure why but that price for that model seems to be the accepted norm. Two seperate occasions I've walked into Harveys in Nunawading when not on special and asked them if they could do $89 and they said fine. Worth a try if someone needs a drive in a hurry.

Bugger, I just purchased the officeworks 1.5Tb deal that was posted on ozbargain a week or 2 ago for 99$ :(..now its 2tb for less than what i paid!!!

I havent even opened my package delivered from officeworks.

OH MY BAD, this is a desktop hdd, not portable…Thats not a great deal then is it?

I purchased 3Tb WD external hdds for 99$ which was listed on ozbargain a month or 2 ago

    • The 3Tb WD external hdd for 99$ was USB 2.
Anyways, thanks for the cue, so i can emphasize that i spent $116 for a WD 2TB USB3 desktop HD yesterday and enjoyed spending every cent.

      • Really is the difference in price for a USB2 vs USB3 similar to a 1TB drop in space. I didnt realise there was still such a big disparity in price.

  • Hitachi got bought out so the only one left is western digital worth buying the rest is crap in failure rates

  • +1

I bought 16 of these about 2 years ago same kind of deal. Only had 1 fail on me, was within the first few days, others used 24/7 in a NAS still working fine. The model number I bought back then was ST2000DM001 aswell.

    • I have 6 of them. ST2000DM001 seems to be very reliable and fast drive.
