Also worth comparing this to the new 220 model (if you don't need a HRM) which is a bit cheaper.

picked up the 220 today from pushys.com.au for $260 delivered. HRM i already have with my 510. Awesome watch.

      • I want this, didn't know they had new ones. I'm still rocking a chunky 305 and people give me grief.

Was browsing on eBay and found this:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GARMIN-FORERUNNER-610-TOP-TouchSc…

$265 shipped with a 2-year local warranty, apparently.

    • no HRM included

      • Ah, right.

    • Did see that but it looks to be no longer available from Rebel. 99 bikes looks to be the cheapest for aus stock atm.

  • "but the coolest feature has to be the one that navigates you back to your starting point when you don't know your way! "

I was in Death Valley once and this feature would have been super useful

  • Proprietary connection - no wifi or bluetooth. Presumably stuck with their software too.
    Cannot load waypoints.
Will not talk to your phone.
    No compass/altimeter/thermometer
    No maps.

Seems expensive for something so simple. And still has only 8 hrs battery, and not waterproof.

    • The connection is ANT+, not proprietary.
I believe the files can be downloaded and uploaded to any service supporting gpx files.
Battery life is very long when GPS is off.
Doesn't do those other things but nothing bigger can really compare to a light watch.
