  • Don't forget to add the Coupon Code - DGJ3
    Freight is $14.40 to S.A.

  • Looks good, though I have never had a good experience with Lexmark printers, so I will pass on this
+1 anyway, as it is cheap.

  • Just a word of warning. If you buy only comes with half ink cartridges and then new ones cost a packet per page.

Don't be fooled by the low upfront cost. Although 18 bucks for a printer is still a good deal so still +1

Agreed, in other words stay away from Lexmark

  • -1

Yes, these are disposable printers due to the ink cost.
But then, the same is probably true for about 1/2 of all inkjet printers sold…
How can you go wrong for this price. As crazy as it seems, just keep buying cheap printers ($50 or less) and throw them away when you've used up the ink.
Don't forget to use the old black Nikko pen to fool the optical ink-level sensor so that you get to use every last drop of ink.

Who said you can't put a price on the environment. Apparently, it's $18.95 plus shipping!

A better idea would be to keep an eye out for cheap knock off ink cartridges on eBay. I recently bought 15 ink cartridges for my epson printer for $15 from a Chinese seller. Sure they don't last as long as genuine inks, but a genuine cartridge is $35 each from my printer.

Just in case anyone's thinking "I hardly ever print so this deal's perfect for me", think again. The printer will regularly take a generous sip of ink for its self-cleaning routines, emptying those half-size cartridges within a few months no matter how rarely you use it.

  • $15 for postage!!! Are they packing a brick in with it?

    • +2

seems reasonable for what is a relatively bulky item.

  • I can't vote + for this because of the running costs..

  • $18.95(printer)+ $10(p&h to syd)+ $60( both coloured ink) = no, no, no :(

But i'll give u +ve for the effort.

  • I've owned the z1400 (the wifi version of this) for at least a year now, it really hasn't been that bad. The ink actually did last quite a long time.. But the z1400 was only $30 brand new from harvey norman.

    Also, don't expect linux support.

Few things about Lexmark printers (at least true in the past, likely the same now)

Genuine ink lasts quite some time. The quality is reasonable even on cheap printers.. but when you replace them, you will feel a severe pinch. You can pay in excess of $60 (sometimes easily more) because they choose to replace the printhead and print cartridge, and they like ripping you off.

Best value entry level inkjet printers I have found are Canon's, the ink cartridges have the most ink in them compared to all major brands, and are fairly well priced too. Great mL to $ ratio.

But really, a monochrome laser printer is the way to go.

I couldn't agree with you more cyssero.
I bought a $49 LP 12 months ago (with 1/2 yield toner), and sourced a genuine 3000 page yield toner cartridge at MSY for $49 (price-matched -5% at OW).
I've a bells-and-whistles Cannon Ink Jet also, but I only use that when I NEED to print colour / photos / DVDs.

      Live Long and Print,
      Jean-Luc.
