Telstra Elite Prepaid Wi-Fi Modem with 1GB Data $29 at Coles with 750 Bonus Flybuys Points

40

I'm not sure whether you need to be a Fly Buys member to buy at this price and I can't get the Coles page to load to check whether this is in the Catalogue, to check. The T & C's state that you must present your fly Buys card at time of purchase and need to activate the sim card to receive the the bonus points. I'm not sure whether this is actually the case, as I've bought phones that had the same conditon attached, without activating, and still received the points.

  • Includes 1GB of data to use in Australia (30 day expiry)
  • Connect up to 5 Wi-Fi enabled devices

  • I had a good look around.

    Is it locked to Telstra?

    • It's locked to Telstra. I have edited the post to include a link to the discussion here on unlocking it.

  • You can pay $5 to unlock it.

Officeworks/Coles etc had a previous offer for the same wifi modem with 5GB/90 days expiry for $39 multiple times throughout the past year. Much better offer in my books.

  • Good price for the modem, but Telstra charge ridiculous money for recharge data.

      • Yep, or $15 per GB with 365 day expiry for the $180 deal

  • I bought this for $39 with 5gb about 10 months ago. Paid to unlock it. it won't autodetect APN settingS like Androids do . The display is Useless and mine has an annoying habit of going to sleep (Maybe a setting?) . Still not a bad device but I would say its not a bargain.

    • it won't autodetect APN settingS like Androids do .

I don't know if any of them will, especially those that may have been locked to a particular carrier? It's generally fairly easy to locate what settings you need though.

    • Really? I threw an Aldi SIM in ours without even unlocking it and it works like a charm, never bothered to fiddle with the APN settings. There are guides out there for unlocking and/or loading default/custom firmwares, maybe that would help?
