  • Note: this is the old model

I have one of these (I bought it before the new models came out). I find it great for travelling.

I have this older one too, got it on the $39 deal with 5GB included last time.
When I plugged it in to DC Unlocker it already said it was unlocked.

For those thinking of getting this one, the newer MF65 is $39 and comes with 2GB included data (this MF60 comes with 1GB).

Is it worth it for the extra $10?

Also available for same price at Coles this week

  • Also at Kmart.

  • are all the discount $30 re-charge card 3G only? or it doesn't matter, it just depends on your modem etc?

  • With a good phone (most modern smartphones) capable of acting as a personal hotspot these little devices are becoming less needed aren't they?

I guess more for sharing a single data account over several Wifi-only devices…

  • If you have one of those portable usb power packs then coles have the MF70 on sale for $10 from time to time. Those can be unlocked for free. Plug it into your power pack for a diy hotspot which lasts MUCH longer per charge than than this.

    • Wouldn't adding a portable power pack to the MF60/65 make them last just as long too?
Plus you don't need to carry around a portable power pack to use these if you're not planning on using them too long at a time.

      • Well you can't actually plug MF60/65 into the power pack like the MF70. What I find annoying the battery on the MF60/65 only lasts three hours if you keep it on all the time.

        • I used my MF60 off a power bank with the included micro USB cable, I guess you technically can't plug it straight in to the power pack but it's just as good?

        • battery on the MF60/65 only lasts three hours if you keep it on all the time

If that's the case you might as well pay an extra $10 for the Y201 & use that as an AP + you get extra phone functionality & better battery (1-2hrs more). Makes the MF60 redundant.

If you need more juice just plug the phone into a powerbank.

As outlined above, this is only good for sharing short internet sessions w/ multiple users w/o running down your phone battery (which may be crucially needed in a no. of situations).

  • Hey I have this device and have a side ways question.
Is the any way to solder/add/or insert in to the Micro SD card a micro, mini or USB female connection in to this.
The reason I ask is I am trying to make a (cheap) wireless hard drive access gadget. This device lets you and others access its SD card storage over WiFi. Other devices cost way to much and I already have one of these. Just thinking…

  • If I get one of these, can I use my post-paid Telstra SIM in it? only got a USB modem, and we're going away where we would like to be able to share the device between 2 of us
