Most of the time it is stock there. However, as with any refurbished product, the supplies for it are limited. Not a bargain.

    • Seems like a bargain to me, for Netflix. I'll keep my jail broken one running XBMC but.

  • Ordered one. Thanks OP.

  • Apple is a part of Velocity rewards too,

    • I didn't know this. Their website seems to claim it was a one-day event? </confused>

      • Apple has always been part of Velocity points… it was a one day even for Apple on Black Friday but Velocity continues to give you 2 points per $1 on Apple store purchases (as long as your logged in to Velocity and link of their site)

        • So not able to claim points retrospectively for purchases made at a physical Apple Store?

        • i dont believe so

  • hmmm which version is this? ATV 2 or 3? there is nothing to specify this on their site

    • Models 1st generation 2nd generation 3rd generation 3rd generation Rev A
      Release date(s) January 9, 2007 September 1, 2010 March 7, 2012 January 28, 2013

Apart from the specs and release date :-P

Says the original release date was March 2012, and it's running an A5 processor, so 16.5 second search of Google tells me it's an ATV3 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_TV

Any reason why you wouldn't just go pricematch at Officeworks to The Good Guys ($99) and get 10% off making it around $89?

Which would allow you to get the newest 2013 version + new not refurb.

    • +1

cause Apple's website version is refurb and OW and GG are new.. ?!?!

      • +1

cause Apple's website version is refurb and OW and GG are new.. ?!?!

ezza, you totally misunderstood Iplau's question. What he meant to say was go to Officeworks and get them to pricematch TGG's $99, which means you can pick up a brand new one for 5% less than $99. For some reason, he thinks the price match is 10% though.

        • lplau must get price matched for Apple TV at Bunnings… :D

        • 10% for school lists- don't think this will be.

        • Nah. It has been mentioned on ozbargain a few times now.
Appears that officeworks placed all pricematches to 10% generically.

Even if it's not on the school list.

I have pricematched a few things at ow which surely aren't on any school list and it was 10%.
Don't mention anything and just let them do the standard price match and you will see.

Interesting people decide to rate down my genuine question without knowing all the facts about Officeworks.

        • I price-matched a soundbar at ow last week and got only 5%. I didn't say anything, just asked them a price match. Should I go back to get another 5%? :)

    • agree with Iplau, if this is ATV3, for an extra $10, you got Brand New instead of refurb

    this the latest un-crackable version?

    • +6

i just checked that by dropping from 10 storeys, it is definitely crackable

    • You mean can it be jailbroken, and no it cannot.

Good luck getting a ATV2 for anywhere near this price, look how much people try to sell them on ebay!

      • -3

ATV3 Gen 1 can also be jailbroken.
ATV3 Gen 2 (Rev A) was released early last year, and still remains un-jailbroken.

        • -1

          any link/tutorial to jailbreak ATV3 Gen 1?

        • Ummmm link? I'm calling bs. The limera1n Exploit won't work and far as I heard there had been no userland exploits…

        • The 10storey crack posted above sounds promising.

        • @lplau: makes wild rubbish claim, run off. /facepalm

  • they are $89 at Big W brand new (well my local anyway, Hallett Cove - SA)

  • I don't get why people would buy a media player which has no mkv support. It just limits your options. An extra $20-30 will get you a WD player which will play just about everything.

    • It's more for people like me that have bought everything on iTunes and own devices like an iPad and iPhone or even a Mac.

I agree that the WD player is a better option for most people but for me, I can play MKV files on the fly by using the AirVideo app (yes it requires a computer to handle the conversion and your iphone/ipad to stream it to your TV but still it's really nice) and I can buy and stream movies directly from my TV which is nice.

I also really like finding a funny youtube video or other video stream on my iPad and being able to re-direct it to my TV.

@4agte, I don't get people who run crappy WD devices when they could use raspberry pi with XBMC. Each to the their own.

      • I borrowed a RspPi from a mate about 6 months ago to try and it was excruciatingly slow to skip through videos running XBMC streamed over my network. This is comparing it to a ful media PC and an ATV2 runing XBMC. If you just play and leave it running it was OK. Has it got any better with later releases?
