Just saw this on clearance at Kmart Boronia. They had alot of them. Cant remember exactly how much but it was either $1 or $2 sorry in a rush.

Does anyone know if these can be used to make takoyaki?
You probably can if it's hot enough. You will have two sides as well! Considering you can doughnuts with it should be good to make takoyaki

I would say not. to make takoyaki, you require overflow and it doesn't appear to be much room in this. I suppose you can arm yourself with a cup full of batter to replenish but it wouldnt be a very efficient cooking exercise :)
Definitely a store specific markdown, but if your local store has these still in stock and you mention that Boronia have done this price - they may be willing to match. There should have also been some soft serve/ice cream maker christmas appliances marked down under $5.

I had one of these. You get much better results by taking a cake, mashing it up and mixing it with icing, rolling into balls and inserting the stick with a bit of melted choc on the end to help keep it on.
For me, these turned out like muffin balls.
