  • Locked to the Vodaphone network! I'd rather be locked to the Mother-In-Law….

  • Main Screen Resolution: 480x800 (233 ppi) Good for 2004 but not 2014

    • +3

Couldn't disagree more. It's a huge battery drainer to have a higher PPI screen for a mid-low tier phone in which the battery capacity is already quite average. Why would you need a high resolution screen on a phone that probably can't even run graphic-intensive games? I have a phone with a similar PPI and it is more than sufficient as a display resolution for this price range. Priorities are different for mid-low tier phone users and having a dense display which would drain a mediocre battery is something they want to live without.

      • Well-said, but the exact opposite is one of the drawing points of the moto g

    • I don't know what 2004 you were living in that phones had that screen resolution. The S2 was released in 2011 and is the first phone I can remember having 480x800.

  • If you check the specs on various sites, it can only record 720p, vodafone has it mistaken

    • Actually they DONT

  • I would wait for the Moto G
    Basically a nexus 4 for $200

    • Good point, Mobicity already has them for $249 (Australia tax?), but no 4G
      http://www.mobicity.com.au/motorola-moto-g.html?gclid=CIj8zr…

      • Just FYI - it's $99 in the US… And was very recently, but now sold out, available for $79 at Amazon - http://www.droid-life.com/2014/01/15/verizon-moto-g-on-amazo…

Basically, we're getting screwed, as usual.

        • Link to $99 deal? $200 at amazon currently.

        • Le sigh.. Tried to post the link from the article…

It's also $99 at Best Buy, Verizon branded, like the Amazon one in the link. Not sure how much that screws us in AUS. Is it locked, can we unlock it yet?

        • Cheers, that's what I meant by the 'Australia tax' :)

        • When it is Verizon branded it means, it can be sold at a lower price, to subsidise attract a customer to their carrier

        • Its CDMA and locked.

        • CDMA

Bleh! Hopefully Google open up the Play store version to AU for an almost US price.

        • You can't compare American locked prices as they're impossible to unlock and the carriers charge exorbitant fees, they even charge wireless tethering fees over there. The Lumia 520 was $49 over there locked to AT&T. As a tip, add $100 and that's roughly what the unlocked price in America is.

  • Sweet deal but I'd rather wait for the Moto G..

  • Not sure why this is a deal?
Its the standard price for this device pretty much everywhere….

  • Huawei G526 4G $199 is a much better deal

    • I was in DSE yesterday, and they had the G300 price tag on the G526.. Got excited, but they wouldn't match it.
