SAI Global 30% off All Australian Standards

400
APAC16

Hmmm this probably won't interest most people here but I got this in my email today and nonetheless it's a legitimate discount/sale, and if your line of work requires ISO standards compliance it might just interest you? I had to buy a standard for work last year at full price and this would've been handy.

Wooohoooo!!!!!! Hopefully they won't run out of stock when I stock up on standards - do they apply to ISO and BS and JIS standards too? Gonna go nuts!

J/K I got the same email too - we need to refer to int'l standards for work.

  • Thanks op. Ordered 2.

      But nobody recognises them.

      • +2

Only because they're not particularly high.

    • Speak for yourselves SAI G! - I won't lower my standards more than 25%… well… unless there's pizza involved…

Hardly encourages businesses to follow/adopt national standards when they are so exorbidant. Bring on the chinese junk.

Every standard that is enforced by Australian law should be free, just like the laws themselves are.

The fact that both Labor and the Coalition are happy to hand SAI Global a monopoly over legally-enforceable standards should bother people.

AND the standards themselves are influenced by self-interested parties. You think Bluescope are going to lobby to reduce the amount of steel in a building?

I especially like how SAI Global display their stock price on their homepage as if to rub their lucrative monopoly in your face.

      • i'm not an expert on this topic but i'm pretty sure the standards being sold originate from 'Standards Australia' whom are non for profit.

they hand the standard over to SAI global so they can sell it for them.
The standards from 'Standards Australia' i've come across are more best practice.
and they are defined as best practice by groups of experts in the industry.

  • is ozbargain oz standard?

    • No, the mods make up their standards on the fly. You give a negative strike against a listed deal for the right reason and shortly after that they remove it, and then barr you from giving more negative strikes….

I know some universities offer them all for free too. UTS is one of them. I miss being a student :(

      • those are time-limited PDFs that expire after a few days

        • Foxit PDF reader should remove that issue.

        • Print them using your work printer = free ;)
Officeworks bind them for like a dollar or 2

  • Edit. Oh these are for the documents.

  • SAI global are such a rip off, you can get these for free at your local library peeps

  • Surprised only one other person in here has pointed out that these are completely free (as they have ALWAYS been) through your local library service.

  • My standards fluctuates because it is inversely proportional to the amount of alcohol I drink.

  • Find somebody with a university library account and get these for free.
Edit: Just noticed that this has already been mentioned above.
