Ehhhh.. Considering passive 3D relies on polarisation of the screen, I'm struggling to imagine how an active projector would even work…
Edit: hack way, but at least explains it - http://lifehacker.com/5943551/build-a-passive-3+d-projection…
So 2 projection sources, polarising filters and a silver screen.
It's polarisation of the image that's being shown. A projector just projects an image. Why do you think they have passive 3D projected at movie cinemas.
It's hard to polarise a projection - the resulting image is displayed on a flat surface, which can easily remove any polarisation.. Hence the need for a silver screen, it's a reflection. If you tried to use a regular wall or projection screen, it wouldn't work.
Not everyone has issues with active glasses…
Benq w1070 has 144hz 3d… and I would rank it a better 3d experience than the passive system the cinemas use
Not really the point. Take it up with Acer, Benq, Samsung, etc. Are there any passive 3d projectors?
Yes there are… quite affordable too

Cool and about the same price as well :)
But it's only about US$12,000 at Amazon!
It gets pretty great reviews on Amazon and most sites. They do mention one of the cons is the possible rainbow effect if you're one of those people that see it though. But I only read that from one review out of about 30.
Not too pushed about the 3D functionality… very tempted by this.
Anyone know of any decent deals for 16:9 projector screens?
Something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/PCW92ME-Projector-Screen-Widescreen-…They don't deliver here and they're about triple the price in Oz for an alternative…
I just bought this off ebay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/271359007524?ssPageName=STRK:MEWN…
120 Inch, 16:9, electric & matt white. $160 delivered. Looks pretty decent, here's hoping!
Nice. 3000 Lumens, 10000:1 contrast, native 1080p. Good review from Projector Central (best site for projector info as far as I know)

http://www.projectorcentral.com/Acer-H6510BD.htmNote that the RRP is listed as only $799, so this may not be a super-duper bargain.
That's the US RRP. The Australian RRP is now $999, but used to be more, I think.
This one or Benq W1070?

Suggestions please…

Thanks.
Thanks Op! Just bought one! :D
Ordered and added 2 yrs extra warranty for $99 through Officeworks.
Installed this yesterday in my living room. Am using a Screen Technics 100" fixed projector screen.I dont have a dedicated home theater room. During the day even with all the curtains closed, there is a lot of light in the living room. 3000 lumens works like a charm.
I would have preferred to get Optoma HD25LV, slightly more lumens and better contrast to mention a few. Cost almost twice. Cheapest I could find in Australia is for $1588 from valuebasket.com.au
http://www.projectorcentral.com/optoma_hd25-lv_home_theater_…For the price you wont get anything better than this Acer.
Am very happy with my purchase and highly recommend this if you want a budget projector.
Active shutter glasses and "active 3D" with active flicker glasses that give u a headache . no thank you…
This should be passive 3D and use $1 dummy cinema glasses like my LG TV and have TRUE flicker free watching!
The reason why 3D failed was because of stupid active glasses that fry your brain and cost $100 each
