Ok i know its another Vodafone post, but yesterday i took my partner in to the store to take advantage of the Vodafone Sim Only deal i posted the other day, but she decided she wanted a new iphone so we went on a plan. As a result we both got a $25 visa card each. I asked the guy about the rules and he wrote them down for me.

Both the existing customer and new customer must be present in store.
The existing customer must be a POSTPAID customer of Vodafone (MBB, Phone plan, Sim Only or Mobile Broadband)
The new customer must take a 12 or 24 month HANDSET plan (no sim only)
You are both given a $25 visa card on the spot when the sign up is completed.

Maximum of 10 referrals allowed (notes are left on your account when you refer someone)
Offer is not available online or through phone sales department.
Staff of Vodafone are not eligible to refer customers for the visa card.

So, anyone who is on Voda who has a friend or family member interested in switching now is a good time.

Fastest 4G in Oz next to their two towers, what about everywhere else? Dropouts and deadspots.

Even Gizmodo has been singing the praises of Voda's 4G, I agree its very fast. I get minimum 70mbs when I use it.

Not doubting speed but look at the 4G coverage on their coverage maps. It's that limited that you can barely find it in the capital cities. Let's face it, they shouldn't be advertising 4G as a feature of their network when it covers less than 1% off their network.

        • Their 4G is WAY more than 1% I am not sure where u r based, but I am on 4G most of the time in Melbourne. City, Richmond, Sth Yarra, Mont Albert, Doncaster, etc etc everywhere I go its got coverage on 4G

    • It's improved in leaps and bounds. 4G is incredibly fast, and 3G is great, it never ever drops back to 2G when on calls anymore (unlike Optus do). If you live in a city, it makes sense to use Voda I think.

Friends don't let friends join Vodafail

    • Yeah, don't be cruel lol

    • Given my experience on Voda I disagree.
Optus was the massive let down for me.
To each their own though, but I think people's opinion of Vodafone is based on years ago, nothing like it is now.

I signed up with vodafail 1.5 years ago. Can't wait for my 24 month contract to end so I can switch to some other carrier. Won't refer anyone.

        • Same! My opinions are based on their crappy service now.

        • Negged because I receive crappy service?

      • I live just 20mins from the CBD and although I was lucky to have brilliant coverage in my street if I drove even 3-4minutes away everything fell apart until you hit Melbourne CBD. These are my experiences from around 18months ago when I scrapped my contract.

      • If people still based their opinions on the Vodafone of years ago, they'd love them!
I've been with VF since 99 and I can say they've gotten progressively worse each and every year! Their plans aren't as competitive as they used to be and, as others have mentioned, their customer service is appalling! The data rate seems quite slow nowadays in outer S/E Melb too!
The only reason I stick with them is the contract I'm on… The old school '$40 Infinite Plan'!
But I should say thank you, as when I wanted to upgrade last year the best that they could offer me was to give me the exact same pricing as someone off the street would've received along with a FREE iPhone cover for my continued loyalty!!!

Yeah, I reckon I know a few people I dislike enough to refer them to a 24 month Vodafone contract!

Do you need to return the prepaid visa card if the new customer cancel the plan under 30 days network guarantee?

    • Nothing in the conditions they gave me that said that, but the friend who signed up would be billed the $25 on his final bill when he/she disconnected (that was in the conditions)

    • Do you get the card on sign up? Normally these kind of deals get applied after the third months service.

  • The only thing it's got going for it is their 30 day network guarantee, which I think it's pretty cool. I guess you don't have to return your Visa card but it'd check before you sign up to get a new phone just to get a month's access and $25.

    how about "refer an enemy"?

actually I probably wouldn't even wish this on my worst enemy… jimbobaus, your fighting an up battle here I think…

  • +1

Too late, you've lost me and all my potential referrals forever Vodafone.

After you offered me a GENEROUS $2/mth discount for signing up a new 2 years contract, I understand my loyalty worth no more than $2 a month to this company.

    • yeah you could switch to Optus or Telstra and get more than a $2 discount… Oh hold on…..

From my understanding they put all the "credits everyone expects" into their network and by having best pricing out of the big 3… I can say I am impressed.. the coverage is pretty amaizing now.. was traveling with a friend who was on Optus and his phone was always dropping out mine stayed connected the whole time. and the 4G is awesome!!

But to each their own.. no need to bag the offer cause you have a bad opinion of the network

      • It's absolutely a reason to bag the offer, especially when the offer is based on referrals! That's something I don't honestly think I could do for VF anymore either!
P's. Mily, it's more than they offered me after being with them for over 14 years!

Selling a friend for $25 . Refer a friend to Vodafone = 1 less friend

    • +1

You may still be friends, but if the mobile is his only contact method, you will lose him forever.

  • I have been with voda for a long time and always complain about their coverage. Until I decided to move to TPG and feel the difference myself, voda is much better than TPG! So I stayed with them and couldn't be happier

  • Even as a predated customer, not about to pay optus prices for a patchwork quilt.
