Qantas Frequent Flyer Membership Free for Kids until March 2014

210

I needed to check that this was legit, and yes it is legit. I received a real Qantas Frequent Flyer card in the mail.
QANTAS is starting to recruit kids on to their Frequent Flyer Program.

  • Not still free via Woolworths Everyday rewards?

  • I signed my 8yo up for Woolies Rewards and then for Qantas through that. Got her first points for flights last week!

My kids prefer kicking a footy…

      • I doubt they are mutually exclusive.

    • Can this be ongoing through Everyday Rewards or is it only good 1 time free membership?

      • +1

QFF membership has always been free through Everyday Rewards membership. Without Everyday Rewards Membership, Qantas charge a joining fee. There is no annual membership fee.

        • Oh I thought it was like $80 a year. So once you are in you are in for good?

        • It's a one off. but only for qantas bronze. To get their higher levels you either need to pay or fly heaps

        • +1

You can't buy higher status levels, to get those you'll have to fly heaps.

  • Any minimum age?

    • +1

The second sentence in the link says "Members over the age of 2 years are eligible to earn points when they fly."
So signing up below that age would be pointless…

So signing up below that age would be pointless…

They can earn points shopping with their Everyday Rewards card…

        • Hahaha - yes, lots of two year olds do their own shopping…

      • You're missing the point.

  • Just signed up our 8 month old - so I guess/assume no minimum age

    • Thanks

  • Paid for my kids FF membership a few years ago when we went to USA. Grrr.

What do you put in the "Company Name" field for a 4yo ???

    • I can't remember. I put her address as 1 Sesame Street though.

  • Interesting post, OP, thanks.

  • QFF is struggling just like Qantas itself is. They sent out an online survey to members to try and find out why people hate them. The survey failed in the fourth question. Such a joke! So here's some direct feedback Qantas, people are tired of being treated like infants with your 'taxes and surcharges' on QFF bookings. Do something about this burr under the traveller's saddle!!!!

    • Feel better? hug…

IF they failed on the 4th question what makes you think they would even watch a site like this??

      • +1

All companies worth a stamp have media monitors that track mentions in the media. ie. Qantas doesn't have to watch OzBargain, they pay other people to do it for them!!

  • I do not quite understand it.
Do you earn points flying OR do you fly when you earned enough points ?
    I've got Woolworths Everyday rewards.

    • +1

      Both :)

By joining QFF and linking your Woolies Everyday Rewards card you get QFF points everytime you purchase something over $30 at Woolies (and associated stores). You also get QFF points when you fly Qantas or partner flights.

      • Tbh, I have never bothered redeeming points on flights because for me, they are so few and far between. What I have done, is linked my Woolies, DJ's, Optus etc accounts all up to the QFF account and each time I pay for a bill, it gives me points. Then, when I hit 3000 or whatever, I cash out a giftcard. If I end up flying, those points are a bonus. QFF has really just become the overriding rewards system for all these other ones.

      • Please correct if I am wrong, but next time I fly with Qantas, I will earn reward points ?
        How does it work ?
Do I need to let them know that I am a member of QFF program when purchasing tickets ?

these are seriously basic questions that can be answered if you take a 30 second glance on the qantas website FAQs.

        • If you have booked Qantas flights you can go on their website and manage your booking.
You can add your QFF membership number there.
See here for more details on earning QFF points.

        • Thank you for response.

  • Kids have always been able to have a QFF account and utilise any offer for free Membership. We signed our kidlet up last month when it was free memberships all round, regardless of age. Saves $80 odd (which is especially handy for kids who may not travel as often).

  • Good deal, but there's always something on to get free membership so nothing to cheer about.

Signed up my unborn child for this, can't wait.. got few million of them waiting in the line ;)

  • I am seeing a lot of advertisements for Qantas recently.

Seems like a quick bid to shore itself up before it goes into administration…

I've seen the same for Ansett when it collapsed, and recently Holden tried to conduct a PR campaign.
