Foxtel End of Financial Year Sale - Free IQ for 12 months - 12 Month Plan - Free Installation

90

Hi Guys,

First post… I just bought a new house ( took advantage of Govt First home Buyers Grant $24K - I love a bargain ) and I am looking to get Foxtel installed….

I got told about this from a friend and noticed it wasnt posted here..

Foxtel Free IQ for 12 months - 12 Month Plan - Free Installation -
http://www.foxtel.com.au/shop/get-foxtel/default.htm

I am unsure what they mean by premium package, but they mention that it is a minimum of 521 ( which is only $43 per month ) and with all the channels in the first month…

It seems like a bargain.. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Cheers
Ryan

  • Premium package is when you get all the channels

  • OK.. They seem to call it the platinum package as well.. Confusing

    • Yes, Platinum is everything.
Premium Value = Basic Package + the next three tiers and then you choose one of either movie tier or sport.

  • I'm a bit confused about this. It says that IQ is free if i sign up for Premium value package on 12-months direct debit plan. Then the last sentence states that i can change my package. Now if i do change my package after the first month, does that mean that they will start to charge me for IQ then?

    • Yes, you can change your package down after the first month to the basic (which is $40) or above. But no, you will not be charged the $10 iQ fee for the remaining 11 months. The iQ fee is different from your "package" (it's on top of).

  • The Minimum of $521 is if you switch within the first month from Premium to Get Started, if i've read it correctly.

    • Yeh i didnt see that bottom part so yes i agree with you. So the way i understand this, without this free IQ the minimum cost would be $641, is that right?

      • +1

Yeah, $10 a month off for a year

  • Yeah the way I read it is you must sign up with the premium plan initially but you can swap to the cheapest one before that month expires and retain the Foxtel IQ.

I'd be interested but the way Foxtel does it's plans really annoys me. I only want sports and comedy chanel but because of how they group them you end up paying more than I'm prepared to pay (and i think you need to get the starter package right as a base?). Ahh well, mayyy consider it.

"Offer ends 31 June 2009". Is that the day after the 30th ?

      • lol, well-spotted

    • "but you can swap to the cheapest one before that month expires and retain the Foxtel IQ." - i wouldn't be surprised if they sting you $10/mth for the IQ if you drop the package below 'premium'.

      • Well I'm just reading this line

"Min cost on direct debit $521 (FOXTEL iQ) or $721 (FOXTEL iQ2) on first month Premium Value package and if you call in the first month to switch to Get Started."

Clearly has the Foxtel iQ in the brackets alongside the minimum price and they don't mention it becoming a charged service. That said I didn't go into the finer print.

They word it very cagely so they suck you in i think… Still think its a reasonably good offer

  • I am going to the foxtel shop in my local this afternoon… Hopefully they can clarify…

  • Yeah the offer is quite decent, so its a +ve from me. Dont need it myself (have had Fox for the last 12 years & love my IQ2), but know someone who will most likely take this offer.

  • Good deal, the ad on TV is very annoying though "Happy Eofys" again and again

If the Deal is confusing, then I get the feeling that something dodgy is happening.

These marketing people need to make it simple.

  • How can you get Govt First home Buyers Grant $24K? You mean + free stamp duty?

    • +1

New Home = $21k Fedreal Grant + $3k NSW govt grant for new homes..

      PLUS free stamp duty

  • foxtel is still poor value, this deal was going months ago before Christmas I think. It used to be ok when it was cheaper and had no ads

  • Foxtel is way too expensive and with so many people ignoring TV altogether a lot more these days in the Internet world, it makes it a great waste of money.

I gave up on Foxtel recently, found it was too expensive and with all the repeats and adverts, it become a joke. There is so much free content on the Internet and ordinary HDTV is going to get better too.

IMHO, Foxtel needs to drop their price to a third now, I used to say to a half, but that wouldn't be enough now. Drop the mega advertising campaigns that go on forever — "the Free IQ for 12 months" has been going since last year! This is no bargain, Foxtel won't exist too much longer if they keep inflated pricing like they have now…. if they do continue to exist, you can be sure that you'll see much more paid advertising.

  • I just signed up with this deal… My parents have Foxtel and IQ, and when I go on theres usually something I like to see… Worst comes to worst I will drop it down to $40 after the first month and not have the xtra channels…
