Uploaded is a picture of the latest Super Cheap Auto catalogue, from here in WA. They don't seem to have it on their website yet. Anyway it seems that they are having a clearance on their GPS units, and OW carries some of them, so why not price match?
Navman S150 Platinum, OW @ 348, SCA @ 299, pricematch should be 284.05
Navman S45, OW @ 285, SCA @ 254, pricematch should be 250.80
Tomtom Go 720, OW @ 482, SCA @ 458, pricematch should be 435.10
The catalogue also has some Garmin and Mio models, at reduced prices.
Having said all that, I was really tempted with the sleek looking S150, but spent the last two hours looking at reviews online and it seems that it's generally utter crap, in spite of its good looks. My original price range was 200+ but I don't mind moving up to a max of 300 if I'm getting a really good deal. I may still consider the S45, but it seems that online reviews say that I should stick with Tomtom's or Garmins. I might then just maybe go with the Garmin Nuvi 260 in the catalogue for 238, though I'm hoping someone knows somewhere that can beat that.
Hopefully this helps anyone looking for a GPS unit, and I am too, so if anyone knows anything, please do share.
P.S. All the price-matched prices that are listed are cheaper by minimum 20 bucks on staticice.com.au
EDIT/ADD-ON: Oh and I forgot to mention that apparently a lot of the big brands are coming out with newer model GPS' this May, which will explain this 'sale time' for GPS units. I can only afford older, on-sale units, but just in case some of you are willing to splash out some big bucks, then maybe just wait for the newer units to arrive.
Last EDIT: Oh and the catalog says on sale from 13 May to 24 May 2009, so not until Wednesday.. so please don't try to pricematch until then, in case I dunno, OW becomes alerted to this and reduces their prices. Or, if you work for OW, maybe you can just turn a blind eye? Up until Thursday when I get the money to buy one. Ta.
mmm.. Was going to grab one from JB today….. Seems they have older models for cheaper.. Now im totally confused.. :)
