Just saw that Zavvi has The Chronicle of Narnia trilogy in Blu-Ray for £8.49 when you apply the coupon code WARDROBE. That's

  • The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe +
  • Prince Caspian +
  • The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Shipping is £0.99 for International Standard. Note from the reviews at Amazon UK that not all the discs are region free. These are UK discs so would be Region 2 (same as Australia) but if you have Region 1 player you might not be able to play all discs.

I thought they only made two of those. Huh.

    • yeh don't remember the voyage being made into a movie at all..

I'm pretty sure that the trilogy is meant to be The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.. I have no idea what those other 2 movies are.

      • either you are pissing around or you dont know how to use google

It's a joke. Trilogy. The Lion. The Witch. The Wardrobe. Three things. Trilogy. But it's really one thing. Joke.

Wow, about $16.25 AUD delivered to Sydney metro for three blu-rays.

I only wish they were as good as the books, not sure I even want them… hmm…

That can be said about most movies based on master pieces. Not sure whether they'll keep shooting the rest of series.

      • +1

haven't seen the other movies after the first, how do they stack up compared? although if it's anything, the first movie is what triggered my interest in the book series in the first place, so I guess movies aren't always all that bad.

They've found a new producer, so it could be a go, perhaps on a more limited budget.

        http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=narnia3.htm

        Domestic gross $104m ~ Domestic net $57m (theatres/distribution takes ~45%)
        Foreign gross $311 ~ Foreign net $149m (theatres/distribution takes ~55%)

        Production budget $155m
Prints & Advertising budget ~$80-90m (~50% production for advertising + $2k per print, per theatre)

Loss from theatre run: $29-39 million dollars

They would have made it up with TV deals, rentals/streaming, merchandising and DVD/BD sales. But it wasn't a slam dunk profit. And they've run through the three most popular ones.

My guess is they wait 5-10 years and just remake them.

      • Note that the 3rd movie is not 3D, not sure about special features, these are just the single disc edition each.

For those who have never read it, or want to read it again, Kvothe VS Aslan:

      o-O

don't know what I just read… but.. it was good.

    • What on earth was that about?

There's a fantasy fiction website that has users vote on who would win between fantasy characters, just for fun (this year Inigo Montoya won the final by a hair, defeating Gandalf).

The website invites living authors to write down how they think the match with their own character might go down.

The above story is the best of these ever written, by Patrick Rothfuss, about Aslan versus his own character Kvothe from The Name of the Wind (a brilliant book).

      Oh, come on.

If there had been 2 sequels to the Matrix, they'd have been worse (luckily, they never got made).

      • +1

what the matrix strikes back starring tar-tar lynx?

  • Still stock and deal still works

    • Same - just ordered - deal is still on

  • +1

Ordered when I posted the deal and Zavvi said it has already been posted. Although from experience that means I will hopefully get it before Christmas.

    • Actually just received yesterday — took a bit more than a week for delivery which is not bad at all.
