4.5 Gen?
I got this exact same item for $169 when this deal was on- http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/117765
Sold my old ipod touch 4g 8gb on ebay for $120, so I managed to upgrade for only $49 ^_^
Agree. This is the standard price and not a bargain. Especially when a 32GB 5th Gen costs 293 at Harvey Norman Auburn and a refurbished 32GB one from Apple with full warranty goes for $239. Note: 16GB 5th Gen is also missing the rear camera.
What about the ebay fees @10%?
$169 was a bargain!!
Link shows price of $219 for me.
However, it is $218 at the Goog Guys - http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/Apple_iPod_Touch_16G…
maybe we can get this cheaper if we pricematch it at Officeworks
$219 for fancy mp3 playa, don't $39 phone do this function?.. Ipod 5@160$ was a deal, this seems more like every day price.
Depends on whether you only use it for playing MP3s. Not really comparable otherwise.
No its not really comparable, since many $39 phones include a gps and can make phonecalls as well. SO you can do more for significantly less than you can with an ipod touch.
Speaking from experience, I'm pretty sure that a $39 phone will have an inferior display, less storage, slower processor and major problems with responsiveness. So I guess we are agreed, they're nothing alike and the comparison is pointless.
Im over the whole iPod thing, aren't 'most' smart phones able to do what the touch or any other portable media device does. I rather put up with the limitations, than carry another device.
Yes, most smart phones can do what the touch can do plus more BUT if you want to use iOS apps (or there is an app that's on iOS only - not yet on Android), a heavily discounted iPod touch 5th gen 16GB (say $160) is still the cheapest way to go.
iPod touch 5th gen 16GB's earphones/mic port supports both earphones+microphone, it is something even Nexus 7 2013 does not have (I dunno why Google/Asus just put the earphones only port in there - true, you can use bluetooth, but it is not that hard/expensive to make the port to support microphone).
It is one of the Apple devices that's more reasonably priced. 16GB internal memory, Galaxy S2 like dual core CPU (@ $160 - when discounted). Apple did cut cost by not including a charger (just the USB cable) and only earphones (despite the port supports both earphones and microphone).
I'm not buying my 9 year old son a phone, an iPod touch is perfect for him. It also means he can call me on facetime from his mum's house on wifi.
Yeah I can see where your coming from but I have an iPod touch for the following reasons:
1) using my smartphone as an MP3 player killed my battery life
2) have an android phone so can use iPod touch for iOS apps
3) all my music is on iTunes and its easier to sync to an iPodAlso if for anyone considering an iPod touch I would reccomend not upadting to iOS 7 pretty clunky on it.
Looking for a decent deal on the 32GB for my son for Christmas.
Hopefully see some in the next few weeks. Otherwise I might go for the apple refurb.I just got a basically new in box 32gb (earphones, charger in original package) from heidelberg cash converters for $220, they said $249 but put it down if i get it today!!
There is also a 16gb (no box, still has 3months cashy warranty) at prahran vic store, they told me its $230 so i told them O.F sells for $218 and got a callback for $180 if anyone wants it !
