      Doh! Ta.

      • oops accidently pressed the negative vote button sorry !! lol

Pretty decent price, considering the (presumed) high build quality, though specs don't seem very powerful at all for 2013/14 gaming.

    • +4

Name an 11" laptop with better specs?

      • Good point, I didn't consider the screen size. My bad. In that case this is an amazing deal… if you wanted to game on 11 inches of screen real estate.

        • Screen size isn't really the defining factor for such a laptop. For those who need some thing portable but still wants specs capable of playing a new game, there really isn't many choices for under $1k; let alone many choices for 11" lappies.

      • The Sony Vaio Pro 11 is better in most regards, especially the HD screen and battery life, but no GPU and double the price.

Mate I love your prices and configs. Every time a friend asks me about buying a gaming laptop, I refer them to your webpage. And many of them actually bought them and commented "Glad I didn't waste my money on an Alienware!" :)

    • Thank you kindly. The company relies on word of mouth like this and I greatly appreciate it!

  • These are great little laptops I am using one right now, the Metabox version. I took the SSD upgrade on mine as well as the i7 3610QM. Even has great battery life when I am just using it for Uni work. The matte screen is definitely worth the extra I wish I had got that.

      +1 for Matte screens.

I really want to buy this laptop, but my GF does not allow me to.
I bought an Acer gaming laptop last year, but this acer is much slower than yours.
Anyway, great price for this portable gaming laptop.

    • Depends would you prefer an 11 inch or a 15 inch laptop? In the 15 inch range there are lots of options (and none of them should be a Toshiba) but if you want something smaller but packs a punch then the Horize is perfect. I picked the 11 inch because I actually wanted a netbook but couldn't deal with the slowness.

      • thanks for the reply frostee! Toshiba no good?

        • Depends on your preference. I have a 15" toshiba and I love it.

        • +6

Well I'll tell you this. I hear many stories of people going "Brand X is rubbish, I had one and it broke". This is always based off ONE experience and almost always unwarranted. An isolated case or neglect does not count as something being poor quality.

I have worked in tech support for over three years now (plus helping family and friends from time to time) and I have come across MANY cases of them failing in all manner of ways including one I owned myself. Far more than any other brand. Issues usually relate to hard drives and memory problems. Not to mention that, at least in my opinion, I think they are particularly ugly, that glossy plastic looks good for maybe an hour or two out of the box before it gets dusty and covered in finger prints. It is honestly the only laptop brand I would avoid. If you want a cheap mainstream brand (The Clevo chassis laptops like this deal are my favourite though) I would say an Acer, I come across very few of those with problems and own one that is almost 10 years old and runs fine. For something with a bit more quality you can go a Dell (great warranty options) or a Lenovo. Lenovo's are fantastic machines although you may find the graphics card options are not ideal for gaming as they often come with workstation graphics.

        • think Frostee covered it pretty well.

couple of years ago, I found Toshiba laptops to be quite hideous on top of being unreliable. I reckon you can get much better value out of other laptops.

        • i agree on the perceived quality issue, i think of it as 'once bitten, twice shy'!
re acer, almost everyone here would tell you it's rubbish going on past comments, but i've had 2 Acer machines without issues so i'm happy, i believe Acer used to make rubbish pcs but not anymore, the employee who turned the company around on the improved build quality(without increasing prices) deserves a big pay rise, and considering Acer is the "bargain" brand that's a big achievement!

    • The 740m in that is 11% worse than the 650m in this model according to notebookcheck http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-650M.71887.0.…

      • Yep, so for games 650m is better? CPU wise, i7 Haswell is better no?

Please excuse my lack of knowledge in regards to computers

  • +2

I have one of these and apart from my headphones, it's the first thing I pack when I travel each week. It chews up whatever game I throw at it on full settings (currently Planetside 2)

I paid almost double this price and would highly recommend it (though I upped a few things and put a big SSD in mine)

  • jackkel, is there any way of expediting the assembly (15 business days is too long for me personally 'cause I'm in China in ~2 weeks for 2 months!)

    • +2

If you phone us with your order number we may be able to expedite it for a sooner delivery if the parts are all available at the time. Please email or phone us and we can try to accommodate the best we can.

      • Understood! I will order soon. Before I do, I know this is a long shot, but is there any chance you could do a deal on the HORIZE W650SR HASWELL ULTRANOTE? Doesn't have to be a SUPER deal, just an okay deal will do.

        • Please read up on recent experiences of Whirlpool folk with LBO, the price may be right, but expecting LBO to meet their 15 business day build time let alone expedite it is wishful thinking.

        • It depends on the model SKU and the availability of any parts that may be special request. We have had some recent issues on the W230ST which has lead to some painfully long lead times.

  • -1

    .

  • Are there any 11" haswell machines?

  • +1

I'd say this is as close to the perfect laptop for me as laptops can get… portable, gaming capable, matte screen, the touch pad looks normal unlike the one on the Lenovo E320… the battery is a little on the weaker side. An 8 cell would have bumped this up to the 8-9hr mark for normal use for when I'm doing work related stuff on the go (6.5hrs is still a tad lacking but at least it's not rated for 4hrs). Don't mind the 1.8kg weight when it comes to laptops.

I use a 12" HP EliteBook for work which is a pretty nice piece of equipment but being work equipment, I just can't install games (nor should I). Would pick one up if I didn't already have 2 laptops, a netbook and a brand new desktop.

  • Is there anywhere in Sydney to physically look at these machines? I'd rather not buy sight unseen when we're talking upwards of $1500 (for the model I am looking at) :(

    • +2

The quality of the Clevo chassis is very good. Sturdy hinges and a nice rubberised plastic case. Your best bet in Sydney would probably be to go to the Mwave store in Lidcombe as they stock Metabox (exact same as Horize but a different logo) These machines are typically built to order so I doubt they will have any there however.

      • Thanks for the tip. I don't doubt they are built well going by the reviews, but given I have to work with the laptop, I always like to try the keyboard and see the screen for myself. I'd also like to feel the weight of it, as it seems all the Clevos I looked at are listed as being 2kg in weight…

  • u guys don't deliver to UAE eh? :/

    • +2

Yes we can deliver anywhere. We ship via Dhl and can send via priority international. The only limitation being it has to be paid by bank transfer.

      • PM sent

      • In relation to this, I currently live in Germany and I am tempted to get this and can pay bank transfer (through my Aussie bank account). My concern is that as soon as it arrives in Germany, I may have to pay additional VAT (~20%) as this is typical for imported electronics coming outside of Europe.

Have you had any experience shipping to European countries? And if so, was the buyer charged with additional VAT or were you able to minimise/avoid it?

        Many thanks :-)

        • +2

You will definitely have to pay the VAT. However you will pay us EX-GST so that is not such a big hit. This is impossible to avoid and we can't change the value. You may also have to pay some other small fee's like for the processing of the taxes.

      • Jack thanks for re-enabling UAE in your country list.

        Just a couple of questions

        1) It will be able to use nvidia optimus to switch between the GT650 and HD4000 gfx cards?
        2) If an OS is chosen, I assume all the latest drivers will also be installed?

        Cheers

I've actually got this little ripper of a beauty (however, I upgraded to an i7 processor) and it's an awesome gamer and pretty good notebook overall for me, this past year now. My experience is below if you're interested.

    Some Pro's:
    1) The screen size is good for gaming because it means I can pretty much play most power hungry games I throw at it on max settings, like Battlefield 3, due to the native screen resolution and good GPU.
    2) Before I bought it, I was a bit worried that gaming on this screen size would be uncomfortable but it's actually been FANTASTIC!
    3) I was surprised by how good the build quality is and I like the soft rubbery feel on the lid, making it easy to grip when closed. The same material is used on the inside too, making the track pad a breeze to use.
    4) Video/photography editing on it is a pleasure, because it's so quick with processing and loading.
    5) During any task (apart from gaming), this notebook is whisper quiet and temperature is constantly cool.
    6) Battery life is good for what I need. I get: about 4-5 hours doing simple stuff (eg, surfing the web + music, etc); about 2-3.5 hours for more complex stuff, excluding gaming (like, video/photo editing editing or watching movies, etc).
    7) No bloatware = fat free.
    8) The speakers are loud too.

    Some Con's:
    1) When gaming (even during the older less intense games like DOTA or CS:Source), a lot of hot air pours out of the fan on the left side. It took some getting used to, but I got over it after the first few sessions. Just don't plan on putting your phone there while you game, like I did :P The temperature on my palm above the vent doesn't get hot for some reason, so that doesn't really affect me while gaming as is still cool to the touch.
    2) Fan noise is significantly louder during gaming too. Fair enough…
    3) I'd wish the keyboard was a bit bigger, they could've gone an extra inch larger. I initially kept making typing errors even though I'm not the fastest typist, so maybe a few of you might have an issue with that. But, my fingers didn't take long to adjust and I'm now typing fine. I don't have big fingers by the way.
    4) No DVD drive. I've got an external, so who cares :P I'd rather have a thinner notebook!
    5) On the flip side, battery life while gaming on BF3 gave me 1.5 hours with wireless on, max settings and plugged into 5.1 speakers. Other less intensive games only increased the gaming time by a marginal proportion. So for long gaming sessions I keep my lappy plugged in.

Over all I'm very happy with this notebook. It's fit for purpose and is an awesome gamer!

      Plus: No Operating System.

You need to buy Windows if you are into gaming. Which could cost from $68 http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/121528

      • -1

That's one of the best features. If I got a legitimate windows 8 I would still install a cracked 7 over it.

        8 is the new vista.

        • That is virtually factually incorrect. Vista was a mess because it was a new kernel and new driver model. It was unstable as hell and ridiculously slow. By the time 7 came out, driver support was better and Microsoft had made the OS much more stable.

Windows 8 is essentially just a further optimised and refined Windows 7. It boots faster, it benchmarks better, it crashes less. If you don't like the modern UI, you can uninstall all modern UI apps. Calling Win 8 the new 'Vista' is just absurdly wrong.

      • Big plus indeed. I'm tired of paying the Microsoft Tax

  • OP, any chance of doing similar deals on the w230st, maybe come Christmas time? this is awesome and all but a $200 reduction on a Haswell, GT765 with SSD would be the ultimate Santa's gift.

    • +1

That would be indeed. However if the exchange rate doesn't settle and memory doesn't start coming down soon unfortunately all of these will be going the other way. Let's hope for stability!

      • Cheers OP.

Can I ask about the invoice, would it be dated on the time the laptop is finished building/sent out or when payment is received? It's for TRS reasons, the later it is for me the better.

        • It is dated on the date of payment being received.

    • +1

Just don't expect to actually receive it in time for X-mas.

  • Good deal indeed…but I've already committed myself to getting a new desktop…nevertheless, I'm bookmarking your site.

  • +1

Hey jackkel, I have sent you a PM regarding my order :)

  • +1

Great deal. Great Rep. Will be informing a mate who is on the hunt for a new laptop.

  • I'm not a heavy gamer (most games I play date back to 2006 and before) but I planned to do a lot of programming(web, database, network), watch HD movies, and some encoding/extracting on this laptop while I'm travelling. Normally I'd go for 13.3' screen and I've never owned a 11' machine, but this deal seems really good spec-wise. Will the screen would fit my purpose, will it be too small? Should I keep waiting for a 13.3' deal?

    • I'm in the same boat… Not a hardcore gamer… Can't decide

Tempted to upgrade to a 12cell battery too… Dunno if it's worth it.

  • hi rep, would be able to do a deal on this? :)

    • Sorry we do not sell Acer.

  • Hi theres a bug when using Chrome on the logicalblueone site.I clicked on Add to cart at the bottom of the page twice.Reason for that was the page didnt scroll up after the add to cart was clicked.I tried pressing the trash icon next to My Cart but it doesn't remove them.
I had to clear my cookies in order to checkout.
Im interested in getting one just deciding whether i should get another gaming laptop and if i be alright with my fiances.
    Ill make my decision soon

  • Just placed the order for the W110ER !! All paid for ! Can't wait till its finished being assesmbled !!

  • any good suggestion for a SSD upgrade?

is samsung 840 pro any good?

    • +1

I have always liked the Intel SSD's as historically they were the cream of the crop. Nowadays that is not so much the case. The Samsung would be a great pick.

      • cool. thanks

I reckon I will give samsung 840 evo a go as it appearef to be one of the best option to compromise the price, faulty return rate and performance.

    • 840 Pro is good, just avoid the vanilla 840s.

  • +1

Rep, any chance on a deal for the HORIZE W550EU (with Haswells now available):
    http://www.logicalblueone.com.au/store/543-horize-w550eu-ult…

    • Hi,

We will see if this is a do-able deal for our next round!

  • +2

    Hi Rep,
Any chance of sweetening the deal, throwing in the ext. drive and/or a copy of windows??

I want to get this, but I already have a decent laptop. I need a good excuse to get it…

    • No? :(

      • Sorry cannot do any further discount.

  • The site does not appear to work. Once you insert delivery details the page goes blank and doesn't load, refreshing shows an error "set-cookie: 459cf4…"

    • Hi, I haven't experienced this issue. Would you mind trying a different browser? Or do you have cookies disabled?

      • I've tried it on firefox, IE, and chrome.
Also tried it via my mobile (safari and chrome).
        Same problem.

The internet on my laptop is tethered from my mobile. Could that be the problem?

        • Also, cookies not disabled.

        • This is the error. Appears when hitting "next" after putting in delivery details.

        • I am not sure sorry but it does appear to work on all of our test machines. Do you have another computer that is untethered which you can try it on?

        • Hi rep, the problem seems to be resolved now. Would it be possible to provide me with some sort of coupon code to get the deal at the previous price?
          Would be very much appreciated.

  • Hi rep - any frenzy deals available? :)

  • I've got my Horize W110ER. only issue is I've upgraded my memory to 16GB while the laptop I received is still standard 8GB.
