PPS/PPTV is mainly aimed at Mainland Chinese with limited amount of content. No HK TV (TVB) working outside of China apparently.
This is not true. I just bought one a week ago. If you use the N2+ app TVB works.
Please elaborate. N2+ App?
I have just checked the name again. The app is actually called N+.
http://www.51tvpad.com/en/406.htmlIt contains TVB and also the other channels in HK as well.
They all works with no performance problem for me.
Huh? This app is only for TVPads and not your normal everyday Android device or PPS/PPTV. You still need a TVPad to install this.
If you know Chinese and want to watch TV shows (inc English ones) there are devices on ebay for much less.
n2+ is a set of apps to watch cantonese programs.
would be nice to get those apps working on pc/some other android device
was $255
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/120065was $259
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/119293all no need to pay extra $30 for a coles card……
might as well sell it for $259 and save the trouble of issuing a gift card
they probably get the gift card for free or at a discounted price
Cheers mate
Our price is either $289 with gift card or $255 delivered
so it costs more to have something worth less than money?
ppl would def opt for 255 over 289 + gift
So we're paying an extra $34 to get a free $30 gift card? Neg to warn people about this fake deal.
It's either $34 off or a free gift card, it is your choice, no one ask you to pay $34 for a $30 dollar thing
You're the one that advertised it in the deal title sunshine. Without the card it's just the same price that's been listed here multiple times before.
pfft i dont know man you just made a fool out of yourself? Not even a good deal.
Have to agree, give us better price.
Does this unit have connection speed issues? I have brought a few similar units back from china, however the connection speed to their servers are pretty bad. The tv channels are barely watchable, while the movies are too slow to watch any.
The wifi doesn't work well, I don't have any trouble when it is on LAN. All TV channels are fine, the only app I really have trouble with speed is Youku. I'm using standard TPG.
ive got tvpad2
i find the wifi / stream is amazing!it doesnt use much speed at all to stream live!
less than 200kb/s for sure!
doesnt impact on my torrent/ downloads
Does the stream programmes have commercials?
The live TV does just like standard TV, but the movies doesn't.
Can you please confirm if TVB and J2 programmes are live with commercials? Someone earlier mentioned if was pre-recorded programmes and was one day after live.
Live w/ commercials + VOD (3days) for both chans.
Can't say it's live up to the seconds, but surely does match up roughly to the right HK time slot.
It's 5mins behind timeshifted.
are there any chinese sports channels on this? like for EPL and stuff?
What's the difference between this and an iPad (PPS) or Raspberry Pi with Raspbmc and the Chinese plugin? I don't quite understand the free streaming feature - who is the channel/programme provider and how do they pay licensing etc? Will this stop working sometime in the near future?
At least with the iPad/RPi option it's accessing PPS/PPLive etc. What does this box access?
What does this box access?
'Special dedicated'…cough, ill-e-gal..streaming servers…
I thought u needed a massive tv dish to see those channels and if u don't then it won't work well. (Chinese tv) that is.
Get a box like this you can watch Chinese TV shows over the internet. (this box is ~AU$40 in China)
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HiMedia-Q2-Smart-TV-Box-Full-HD-1…You do not need internet if you use that massive tv dish.
Or just spend the money to learn Chinese (http://languages.unsw.edu.au/courses/other-languages/mandari…), then watch on PPS or PPTV (they are only available in Chinese version) for free! :D just kidding… But my wife does watch series on PPS although she doesn't understand Chinese…She's cool
