Refurbished Acer Aspire V5 Ultra-Thin Laptop, I5 $469 + $9.95 Sydney Shipping or Pickup

30

I just bought this refurbished laptop for my wife. The specs are a little vague, but the salesperson on the phone confirmed i5 processor, 4GB RAM, 750GB HDD, dedicated GPU are all correct, as he had stock in front of him.

I also asked to confirm if it's indeed full HD (1920x1080), which he confirmed, saying "Yes it would be", although I am not 100% on this as fullHD isn't a given on laptops.

Even if this isn't full HD, it is still a great bargain. Comparable model around $699 (although I can't find the exact spec'd model, either variations in HDD or RAM sizes).

Shipping is $9.95 to Ryde, but I am not sure about other areas.

How much did you pay??? Would have been good if you have mentioned the price of the product as well!!!

    Thank you…

  • Bottom Line
The Acer Aspire V5 is a pretty sleek laptop at first glance. But don’t be fooled by its silky-smooth silver exterior – there’s not a whole lot going on inside this laptop. Sure, it’s got its strengths: the touchscreen is responsive and smooth, and video looks and sounds pretty good. But it’s got a heck of a lot more weaknesses, such as poor overall performance, lower-than-average battery life, a strangely loud fan, and a noticeably low screen resolution.

Fair enough, although there are multiple variations under the V5 name. The one reviewed here doesn't have a dedicated GPU, where as this model for sale does.

  • Display is WXGA which is 1366×768.

  • I hate stores that do not give a detailed explanation of what refurbished means. Refurbished meaning ex-demo and refurbiahed meaning the packing box is dinged are two very different things.

    • this store also sells 'damaged box' items, so this would mean that this particular model is not a damaged box.

The damaged box ones tend to come with full manufacture warranty.

  • I will never buy another laptop if it is not equipped with SSD. It hurts so much watching the system taking 30secs+ to boot up.

SSD is pretty cheap to buy yourself and put into a laptop ?

    • That's why god gave us Standby. (and I'd rather have a robust drive with longevity than an SSD anyday)

      • but do standby consume much power tho?? I normally do "hibernate" on mine, it saves energy since it's actuall OFF, but it takes forever to start/shutdown… :(

  • JW is such a overpriced business. They deal with computers and computer parts, but think people will pay $93 for 8GB DDR3 1600 ram? Your kidding yourself.

  • i think centrecom sells the same one (brand new) for around the same price….during their dusk to dawn sale

I just bought this refurbished laptop for my wife.

    Seems like a fair trade.

  • "I just bought this refurbished laptop for my wife" I do like it

  • I thinks with this price, you buy brand new from centrecom from 6 pm to 7 am everyday is much better.
