      • Thanks for your response :) I guess I'll just cancel the account.. The card number is different but having both cards listed on the same internet banking account, I guess my chances are slim… Thanks again

      • I'm in the same boat…

        Nooooooo…..

        • Hey! I got an email saying "YOUR BONUS PAYMENT IS ON ITS WAY"

          Woo!

        • Same here.

        • Yep, my 2nd bonus is on it's way also even though my old account is still listed. I didn't think there was any chance of getting it a 2nd time.

    • how did you answer this Q "Are you already an ME Bank Customer?" on the application? yes or no?

      • I answered No, but somehow when I activated my new account for internet banking, I could see my old card which says (permanently cancelled)

I just had a look at my customer ID and they're different as well…

        • Based on the information you provided, I wouldn't give up yet!

You could still get paid :)

Make sure you follow through and complete all the eligibility requirements and then wait for your cash. You have nothing to lose and $50 to gain. Good luck! :)

        • @derkyft
how do you get the customer id for internet banking?

          @ginmi
but we'll be losing 5% of the purchases ;)

        • +2

          Correct. Good point PissLUR.

So yea, there is a 'cost' to potentially receive the $50. The cost is $1.50 in lost cash rebates from ING Direct. I still like the payout ratio though ;)

        • It sent me an email with my ID .. :S

        • Maybe all is not lost. I received an email today saying: USE YOUR DEBIT MASTERCARD AND YOU COULD RECEIVE A $50 BONUS*

          I guess I'll give it a shot. Worst case scenario, I have 3x $10 coles gift cards…

          Cheers guys

        • Got the customer id through an email after the account was opened.

    • Yes I received the $50 bonus email on 16/10/2013.

i still have not got my card yet, they sent me 2 letters with all the advertising about the account and how good it is nothing about the $50 promo, i never opened a bank account with them before so will i still get the $50 promo even though nothing in all the advertising shows anything about it? is it a state thing because i am in WA and ME bank is eastern states?

    • Possibly. From personal experience, mail takes longer to arrive to WA.

As you said, you are a new customer and therefore will definitely get paid. Give it a few more days and then call them if you still don't have the card.

    • Same here but I'm in Sydney

      • Me too. AFAIK my account still hasn't been verified.

I'll definitely be closing the account once I get my bonus. Terrible service.

    Update:
Received the card, called them to retrieve a internet client id.
was given the same old id.

Logged in using that, saw 2 active everyday accounts.

I believe this attempt has failed. Wont be trying to spend 3x $10 transactions.

    • Perhaps you forgot to close your last bank account.

  • Can the transactions be valued at $9.98/$9.99? Or has it been specified only for >= $10.00 transactions?

    • +1

No that $9.99 is under the required amount. Says $10 so it has to be $10.00 or more.

Also during the EFTPOS payment you have to press the credit (CR) key. Making the payment through the savings option doesn't qualify.

      • Also during the EFTPOS payment you have to press the credit (CR) key. Making the payment through the savings option doesn't qualify

This is a KEY point! Make sure you get this right or else you will not get paid!

Alternatively, you can use the PayPass functionality of the card if the EFTPOS terminal supports it. This way transaction goes through as a credit purchase by default.

  • How many have finished their 3 x $10 purchases?. I have (couple of cheap blu-ray movies from JB Hi-Fi and Kmart). Now i wonder how long it would take to actually get the $50 cash back i know it says within 60 days. Hoped to get the money back to spend on this years Amazon black friday sale :)

  • I applied for the $50 bonus promotion back in 2012 with the special interest rate of 5.10%. Around 2 months ago Mebank suddenly closed my account with no reason, all they said was according to the clause (can't remember which number) it says Mebank can close any account at their discretion…

I applied for another account to take advantage of this offer but my application was rejected due to the same reason (which is not really a reason) basically they are saying we are closing your account because we can. Anyone else have the same experience?

  • Dear Mark,

    Congratulations, you deserve a bonus!

By making three purchases of $10 or more with your ME Bank Debit MasterCard® you earned yourself a $50 bonus!

The bonus will be paid into your EveryDay Transaction Account within the next seven days.

  • Me and my wife both got our $50 bonus emails today, will be paid within 7 days.

We applied for the same deal in Oct 2012 and got our $50, we then closed the accounts in May 2013. The logins we're using now even have the old account numbers shown. They must be happy with repeat business!

  • Yup, received 2 emails today, one for me, one for my better half.
$50 each within 7 days - well worth the hassle!
How long to (politely) leave it until we empty then close our accounts?

    • Well, they do still have this running, so it might be worth it to take advantage of their higher-than-average savings rate for the next few months before you leave

      • But then they might have another $50 join up offer… hmmm….

  • Just wondering how long did the $50 take to get in the account after u finished the 3 transactions?

    • Update. Got the email today. About 12 days after the transactions were done. Happy with this.

  • Just got my $50 in account. I finished my third transaction just over 2 weeks ago. Will come in handy during this years Amazon black friday sale.

  • I just got the $50 in my account this morning too :)

  • Received mine too.

I received $50 the last time the promo was on and had closed my account.

I opened a new one for this promo, ended up with the same customer ID and my primary bank account was still saved as a payee.

  • Got my $50. Wasn't too hopeful since even though I closed my account long time ago they managed to just reactivate it instead of opening a completely new one. Pretty happy but I don't think I'll be third time lucky, so maybe I should just open a savings account to take advantage of the high interest rate instead of closing again.
