I got this for $79 a few months ago (managed to get $20 off at Dick Smith), so feel free to ask any questions. One thing for sure is that you won't find a better phone at this price range.

    • How would I get $20 off the normal $99 price at DSE?

      • It was a promotion back then, so it won't work now.

        • Dohhh!

    • What sim card does it take please BlazinPast?

    • does this have voice to text?

      • Well, it does have speech recognition. I don't use the internet though, so I can't test the effectiveness for you.

thanks I got one it's great. the voice to text is th microphone button on your software when you SMS. it is great!

    • Locked to Telstra? How to unlock?

Wait. So you have to buy a $30 recharge. Are they on sale right now? Otherwise it's still $99… You just get it with a recharge..

    • For someone on Telstra prepaid it is a good deal.

      • Sure, but mentioning that the recharges are sometimes on sale for $10/15 means jack to this bargain.

        • 'sometimes on sale for $10/15' Something on sale are sim starter pack. You cannot use them as a recharge. This deal come with a recharge voucher for recharging any Telstra prepaid mobile or broadband. This $30.00 voucher can sell well over 20.00 on ebay, gone in a minute.

it gives scope on the value of the recharge. If I can get the recharge for $10, as I did last week then a $10 recharge voucher makes this phone a $89 purchase rather than $69.

  • We have a Huawei g300 how do these compare.

    • G300 is 1G single core, y300 is dual core.

Pity it is no good for Optus.

  • That does show little progress from my acer liquid mt .. cost~100 two year ago+w/ '14.4Mbps.

    • Liquid MT is a great phone and sold by JB under value. I used it for 2 years, very satisfied in all aspects. But it's replaced by y300 2 month ago. The only reason: after side to side compare, y300 is apparently much faster than liquid metal. Tested stock trading chart, and online movie playing, Y300's performance is much better. But y300's display is really not good as MT. For the side to side compare, Acer MT is much more good contrast, bright and white. Y300 is a little bit yellow.

I bought this one for $99 its a fantastic phone for the price. I have put an Aldi sim card in it (Telstra). Works everywhere that my other phone with a Telstra sim in works.

  • Telstra frontier was similar price to this but with 4g, better CPU, and 1gb of ram.

I suppose though you get the $30 phone credit plus this is on jb. Still amazing what you can get for such a low price now.

I did compare frontier and y300 when I changed my mobile phone 2 month ago. In hardware, the frontier is apparently better than Y300 and tested really much faster than y300. The display also feels better.
But I sold frontier and keep Y300 for reasons:
      1. Frontier is bulk, heavy and slippery, somewhat hard to handle by one hand.
      2. Don't know what's wrong of Frontier's screen. When you do swap to scroll the screen, even you are very careful, it will be very often that the screen is not rolling, but the link under you finger will be opened. It's very annoying! This almost never happen on y300.
      3. The back cover of Frontier is a nightmare. You really need your nail very strong to open it. The pain from my finger lasting 2 days after I tested all my different sim card in this mobile phone.
      4. The power button cap is built on back cover! Thought I broke it when I removed the back cover the 1st time after hard work.

  • Redeeming feature around Telstra rebadged/botched ZTE Frontier could be extreme lowest ping timing[? ] plus IP calls comm w/0.7 GB value-add-on, though they wouldn't crow about it for obvious commercial reason.
    - tho I do easily test stable 0.090, from 3Gwoolworth all hyperventilative(4g) marketing aside.

see http://www.versus.com/en/zte-grand-x-lte-t82-vs-huawei-ascen… also, for the cyberstat compare. Just pity wasn't a smooth jellybean experience with such a comms ram + 540p/4.3.

  • On sale from tomorrow 10/10/2013.

  • Scored this deal today…also includes a sim with $10 credit :)
