Was just shopping around when I saw this sale for cree torchlights. I have previously owned a 1000Lm one which was incredibly bright, and I can't wait to see how bright a 1800Lm torch would be. Quick search of past deals indicate this is a very good price, esp being a high brightness model with zoom function and AAA adapter included.

Just for fun I made an affiliate account. I have no idea if it will even make any money, but if you find this deal useful, please click on the link before before you purchase the torch please.

Aliexpress is cheaper, T6 with 2x 18650 batt and charger at USD 16.08 if you need it with battery, also free shipping to OZ. Further if you signed up, you could get $5 off the deal. I did not try to buy it as I already own one MTA.

Beware though, its not as bright if you were to use AAA battery as compared to 18650.

    • Coupon only to be used on one order value ≥ US $80.00

Not fair to compare Aliexpress with a store that has a reputation on Ozbargain though. We know that BangGood are reliable but slow to ship and that the rep has been helpful with people who have has issues. They also come on from time to time to give Ozbargain specials.

Also note the 18650's that come with a torch like this are almost certain to be rubbish to average anyway. I've had reps on Aliexpress ask if I wanted 24ct stamped on things or if I wanted them stamped with Tiffany and co (was after some costume jewellery for my daughter).

To summarise, Aliexpress may be slightly cheaper but I'd prefer to buy from a known entity.

      • to be fair the batteries that came from Banggood were stamped "Uitrafirc"

with real 18680s it'd be fine but they are very bright with the included china copies

      • Also (correct me if I am wrong), I don't think Aliexpress or most of the other similar Chinese operations accept Paypal…no way I'm giving my CC details to unknown traders.

        • Aliexpress (unlike alibaba) has buyer protection that…… BAHAHAHAHA, sorry I can't say that seriously. They are useless I've had a problem before and they just don't care, my problem being that they sent me an item of clothing that was the wrong colour, size (kids size instead of adult) and shipped in around 45 days instead of the promised 7-10.

The only good thing about them is that Aliexpress holds the credit card info and not the person you buy from, so they only get your address and provided info. They are all shifty as shit and will try and get you to buy items promising discounts after you've sent them money (for example; 'You buy 5 lots for $90 now and we will refund you $70 and send them, we will give you coupon…') shifty as a $7 note.

  • i think the last deal was $12.95 for this + 2 batteries + car charger + wall charger

    • +1

That was for a 1600Lm torch but that's besides the point. With the deal at $12.95, chances are the batteries are not protected cells and there is no overcharge protection on the charger. Thats ok for AA batteries, but you've got to be really careful with 18650 batteries.

  • I need to buy batteries separate right?

  • +1

For anybody considering this may I suggest researching 18650 safety, as they are potentially dangerous if you aren't willing to put the time and effort into using them properly.

    • I agree. These are immensely powerful batteries and there is no substitution for quality. I would suggest to buy protected cell batteries, and never overcharge them.

      • Any recommendation for a good brand of 18650 batteries along with a charger kit?

      • Will the protected cell batteries fit in this torch?

        • Yes, protected's referring to the circuitry. Size is unaffected (although not that all 18650s come in exact same sizes). People have noted that different manufacturers seem to manufacture them in slightly different sizes, but they should all fit a torch. I haven't come across any threads suggesting otherwise.

        • +1

actually… usually protected cells are longer than non protected ones… but caus of chinas love of copying things they make there non protected cells the same length as the protected ones without the protection circuitry

but if you knew anything about these torches (rather than just trying to cash in for yourself with your ref link) you would know they support something like 10mm difference in battery length……

        • What's with the attitude?

  • +1

I prefer the Small Sun ZY-T11 (or clones). They are smaller, have a top-mounted switch and have a 3.5mm charging port. Cheaper too. They start at US$9.52-shipped or US$11.09 with a charger: http://budgetlightforum.com/node/24633#comment-469234

  • 1800lm????? Seriously? Have the Chinese been changing their units again?

      lm

Lol Meters = from how far your laughing will be heard when you read the description.

  • I've got one of these. It has never worked properly.

    • I have bought 4 of these since the OzBargain Cree epidemic. 2 came from Banggood which took maybe 3-4 weeks to come in. Was a nice surprise actually cus I forgot all about them. They work well, especially with the 18650 batteries.

How do you define "never worked properly?" Do you mean the brightness is always low or the contacts are sometimes not happening for you or you simply are putting the batteries in the wrong way…?
