On par with MSY.
Can't find the 400GB Passport drive on their price list, only the Elements. So this may be better value than MSY.
Yes Officeworks stocks this product for $199.
According to the officeworks website it says "only available online". So not sure that you will find it in store to enable you to get the price match.
What's the diffrence between the Elements & Essential version?
Elements usually comes in a crappier enclosure with white rubber around the edges making it bulkier. It's the 'entry level' model and the Essential is in a black (or other colour) glossy plastic enclosure. Basically Essential > Elements.
Very good price for Essential drive.
I have both essential and elements hdds and I can tell you that the elements requires less power to run. It will run fine on my Beyonwiz HDD recorder (playing media files etc) but the essentials is unstable. They both work fine on a computer, though.
Good price, but given a WD 500gb bare drive is only $155 in MSY, can't see why they charge so much for a plastic case to wrap it around.
Ummm this is a 2.5" not a 3.5" drive thats why it costs more…
3.5" Drives from MSY
$72 Western Digital W.D. WD 3.5” 320GB SATA or SATA II Serial ATA100 HDD 7200rpm Hard Disk
$93 Western Digital W.D. WD 3.5” 500GB SATA II Serial ATA100 HDD 7200rpm Hard Disk2.5" Drives from MSY
$101 Western Digital WD W.D. 2.5” 320GB SATA Notebook Hard Disk Drive 8MB Cache 5400rpm
$154 Western Digital WD W.D. 2.5” 500GB SATA Notebook Hard Disk Drive 8MB Cache 5400rpmSo a 400Gb 2.5" drive in an enclosure for $158 isn't a bad price at all.
are you replying my comment?
Obviously the $155 MSY price is for 2.5", 2.5” SATA to USB2.0 Ext. Enc. is $10 in MSY, so all up an external 2.5" 500GB drive would be $165, so $158 for 400GB isn't all too fantasticAnd the exact same WD Passport drive sold overseas is so much cheaper than the ones in Oz, even after you taken out GST.
I'll take a WD drive in a WD enclosure with a single WD warranty over a drive in a $10 enclosure any day thank you…
Just my $0.02
Just went to Officeworks Subiaco. Printed out the Ad from the Dick Smiths website and they beat the price by 5%!
Sale price: $150.10
Pretty good for 400GB.
Wow, OW in Sydney CBD only stock the 320GB one for $144
Hmm.. $150 for 400GB 2.5" - how very tempting.
I just bought from officeworks yesterday $121.60 for 320gb seagate freeagent go 2.5" with 5yrs warranty (price match MSY $128 - but don't go to OW Elizabeth St in Melb - he called MSY and no one pickup so he didn't let me get it but I went to other OW and got it straight away no need to check just bring the print out).
WD essential either 1 or 3 yrs warranty.
Hope it helps if you don't need 400gb.yeh i checked this yesterday, and officeworks in the stores only stocks 160, 250, 320 and 500gb versions of this HDD
also you CAN price match officeworks prices online, just call the number 1300 OFFICE and speak to a representative over the phone rather than do it all online, and it is basically the same thing as ordering online, but since you can speak to a phone rep they can do price matching and things like that for you.
i mean their policy is LOWEST prices GUARANTEED…. so they have to adhere to that policy.
Also if you order before 11am it is same day delivery, or after 11am it is next day delivery. And delivery is free for orders over $50 i believe as well.
so if you go through them take another 5% off the Dick Smith Price.
How do you get OW to price match? Their price online is $158 also.
Not bad, 320GB is usually not far from this price. 500GB is still around $199 I think.
