iPhone 5c all colours - $710.97 delivered.

131

www.1-day.com.au has the 5c for $40 off what you'll get it from Apple direct. I'm not going to go into whether this is in fact a bargain in comparison to other phones (I'll let you do that in the comments).

I can't seem to ascertain which model number this is, but as I'm happy with my Nexus 4 I'll leave you guys to do the detective work.

Possibly a better deal: http://mobileshop.amaysim.com.au/iphone-5c-16gb.html $689.95 + approx $10 post courtesy of a comment by Color (what an appropriate name for this post).

don't we all wish 5c was the actual price…

    • +19

That's how much the factory workers that make the thing get per hour.

      • +7

did they finally get a payrise?

        • they get paid too???

        • They already did get a payrise. Labor costs are increasing in China and it's probably not too long (a decade maybe) before Chinese wages are on par with US wages.

i hear ios7 makes your fone waterproof now. sounds awesome

  • +7

Wait, so all those people are really going to be paying over $700 for this slightly-upgraded iPhone at release?

    That's honestly worse than I thought… :(

    • -3

From all indications, folks in USA pay ~ $200 each for these,,,

So, why do we see prices over $ 700…?

      • +3

They pay $200 for an iPhone in the same way that you may pay $8 a month for an iPhone, that's not an outright price it's locked in to a contact and subsidised in the exact same way that Optus/Vodafone/Virgin/Telstra subsidise phones for Australians.

Below the from $199 from AT&T/Sprint/Verizon on the iPhone page you'll see the outright costs (5S in this example) for $649/$749/$849

        http://store.apple.com/us/buy-iphone/iphone5s

For the 5C from the 3 American providers it's $99/$199 subsidised and locked in to a contract or $549/$649 outright.

  • half of the white stock is gone already?

    insane.

    • Got me curious. Half of all the stock is gone as I type this.

Wonder why Apple didn't make a (PRODUCT)RED one.

WARNING - THESE ARE USA HANDSETS BEING SUPPLIED BY A NEW ZEALAND IMPORTER/SUPPLIER.

No 4G/LTE - No warranty from Apple Australia - No Out of Warranty support from Apple Australia

"Elina: they are supplied by a NZ supplier who gets them from the US"

    • I was under the impression that the 5C carried all LTE bands making it so that Apple only had to make 1 worldwide handset meaning that 4G would work fine.

      • +4

I was under the impression that the 5C carried all LTE bands making it so that Apple only had to make 1 worldwide handset meaning that 4Ghat would work fine.

I was informed they may be Tmobile handsets. Not sure if this Tmobile model will support 4G in Australia? In any case, $40 is not enough of a saving - considering no local warranty, no Apple Australia warranty, no out of warranty support/replacements, no 240v ac charger.

        • I believe that Australian LTE uses 2100, 1800 and 850MHz though I may be mistaken that is covered by every iPhone 5c/5s model.

Regardless of that I agree that it's not worth the savings, just wanted to try and clear up the LTE.

          http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/

Although Australia isn't listed as supported they are ak long as the LTE bands cover our spectrum (if that's the right word for it).

        • -1

Regardless of that I agree that it's not worth the savings, just wanted to try and clear up the LTE.

Thanks for that. Looks like being a scam anyway.

What a bargain! Finally, Apple releases a phone the 3rd world can afford. I'll wait for the iPhone N. The Nasty version.

A $710 Iphone, but only cost $210 to make it. What a rip off! Over priced!

that might be the case, but being popular within your group of moronic friends is priceless…

It cost an extra $500 for Apple to advertise this as being a bargain.

    • +8

the same could be said for any phone. there is always going to be a mark up.

In 1999, i took a tour of the Holden factory in Adelaide and the rep, when pushed, said it cost around $9500 to make a VT commodore executive (base model, which retails in the mid 30's) from start to finish and not much more for 'high end' models like the Calais, as most extras are only bolt ons.

point being, whether its phone, car, watch, tv, furniture makers, they all do it. All companies have to mark up their products to cover expenses and especially IT Companies, all the RnD they have done and will do and believe it or not, they exist to make $. Its like u and I going to work everyday, to make $, its not a dirty idea to make money, thats y people work so hard and y sites like this exist so we can hang on to it more.

If people dont like it, then dont buy it, no one is forcing u to…. fairly simple idea not many people can grasp….

      • Absolutely. That's after months & months of R&D, finding the most efficient way to manufacture and finding the best/cheapest materials to use. That takes heaps of $$$'s which they have to spend if they want to keep costs down. You have to factor that in as well.

    • A coke from McDonalds cost 3c to make but they charged well over a $1

  • +1

I think this is a scam (not by 1-day but their supplier).

A T-Mobile 16GB iP5c is supplied unlocked but costs US$649 without state taxes.

    That is around AU$700

Add the freight to NZ and commission for 1-day and the AU$711 price does not 'stand up'.

    "Delivery estimate: 5 working days

    Warranty: 12 months [1-day]
    Condition: New
In the box: iPhone 5c, Lightning to USB Cable
    Works on: Telecom, 2Degrees, Vodafone"

Looks like not all networks are supported?

    isn't Kogan offer bettr?

  • Gee what is the price of the 5s? I thought the 5c was a budget iPhone? What a fail…

    • I thought the 5c was a budget iPhone?

You were mistaken. Apple never said that they were introducing a cheaper iPhone - that was all rumor.

The "c" is for 'colour' or 'color' as the Yanks spell.

  • another scum listing. iphone 5c pfffft

  • Iphone after Steve Jobs = junk

  • -8

Hey, to those who comment, please note it's a bargain page. Not a apple v other companies fight. shouldn't complain for the price of an iphone just because you can't afford what you want!

    • Interesting article, well worth a read.

I havent seen a single 5c around the traps. A budget phone for $739.00 (cheaper, budget, whatever you want to call it)? What idiot thought of that?

This could be the first Apple iphone to be discounted. Prepare for howls of rage from those who actually bought one.

Interesting to see a change in tone from the media as well. The fawning coverage from the mainstream media eager to look "with it" and "down with the kiddies" seems to have fallen off sharply.

      • IMHO, I still think it's a great idea, 5c is meant to replace iPhone 5, and apple figured out how to produce it at lower cost, which means higher profit margin, and SOME people prefer to buy the newer phone (5c) rather than a 1 yr old phone (5). If they didn't release iphone 5c, i don't think they can sell more iPhone 5 the same way they are selling iPhone 5c now.

        .

        • The problem is that they need to wise up and start genuinely competing on price. The only reason I would buy an iPhone is because the software library is still better than android. But right now android has 64% of sales in aus, up from 60% a year ago. Apple are starting to get locked out of markets, in spain, android has 90% of the market. If you were developing in Spain you might not even bother with apple, particularly when they are still so high and mighty in attitude.

  • +1

Wonder how long apple can charge these absurd prices.

    • +1

So long as people keep paying them, they say that the 5c and 5s sold 9 million units in the first 3 days what's the bet that the 6 sells at least 10 million.

      • Shipped, not sold, according to the article on fairfax. And that was because they launched in more countries this time.

Apple resellers said that demand was about half compared to last year.

    • Well the 5c & 5s have been the fastest selling iPhones to date. This year, 2013, Apple also has the most competition from other phone manufacturers it has had to date. Even though I think Cook is a jerk, Apple is still doing something right.

They are overseas models. No local warranty from Apple Australia. No out of warranty support/replacements.

      • Disappointing to see Amaysim flogging them if that's the case.

        • +1

Disappointing to see Amaysim flogging them if that's the case.

It is the case. I went on LiveChat and had it confirmed. Buyers will be the importers of these overseas model phones.
Any warranty claims/problems have to be 'handled' by MobiCity.

Also, this is in large type at the base of the page….

"This Mobile Shop is an online marketplace that lists devices compatible with amaysim (powered by the Optus network). Offers made on this site are made by MobiCity and by accessing the site you acknowledge that you are dealing with MobiCity"

NOT A BARGAIN AT THIS PRICE FOR A PRIVATE IMPORT WITHOUT LOCAL SUPPORT/WARRANTY and WITHOUT Out of Warranty SUPPORT.
