Hey guys i know not everyone may need it but for $5.00 your cheering.
Cheapest competition on Staticice.com.au is around $40.00 so its a bargain

Windows Live OneCare not only helps protect your computer, it also helps keep it in good health.

Specifications:

Automatically scans for viruses, worms & trojans

Continuous 2 way Firewall Monitoring

Enhanced protection from spyware by "Windows Defender"

Easy file back-up

In conclusion a good product that does the job for only $5.00. Nice price for once Microsoft…

Check if your local Electronic Dick's store has any but there seems to be a fair few in stock :)

MS is discontinuing OneCare in June and replacing it with a free less comprehensive alternative called Morro.

However it will continue to get it's updates and whatnot for the length of it's subscription.

    Read about it here

  • tantryl is correct. You will be uninstalling onecare in a couple of months.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Live_OneCare

On November 18, 2008, Microsoft announced that Windows Live OneCare would be discontinued June 2009 and will instead be offering users a new free anti-malware suite codenamed Morro to be available before then. However, virus definitions, subscription renewal and support for OneCare will continue until Morro ships. Users are encouraged to use Windows Live services for alternative features (such as Windows Live Photos instead of OneCare's Photo Backup feature). It is expected that the Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner will also be discontinued as part of this announcement.[1]

So why would you fall to DSE clearance sale of clearing discontinued product?.

As per my previous comments -

"Not to mention the free AV has been delayed til the end of the year making this offer very worthwhile - read http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/706/1051706/microso… for more info.

MS also said they will be supporting all subscriptions until they expire. One Care is more than just AV, it has a lot of nifty tools for beginners who want to keep their PC in check

Very light on resources, but not the best scanner admittedly. Definitely a bargain, though."

      • Since this info was not on the Deal description, gave negative, but 5$ for 8+ months should be ok. (I use avira with mostly booted to debian)

This software is a piece of crap, I don't think you want to protect yourself from viruses with such software.

Use other free alternative :) search google ^^

this product is EOL and will be replaced with free product

    • +2

In 8 months. MS are also honouring all subscriptions til they run out (as they should).

  • -3

EOL product being replaced with a free one as noted above in coming months. If you need an antivirus product in the meantime consider AVG, Avast, AntiVir as free alternatives until MS's solution comes out.

hmm k you dont really have to neg it to be honest cause not everyone knows these things lol, but ok thanks for the update…

for $5 this is a very good deal, even if it is only working for another 12 months (your subscription) it was 5 bucks for an entire year worth of a very good product!

Agreed. A 3-user subscription for only $5 is definately a bargain regardless of whether its going to be discontinued in June. MS will still provide support till the end of your subscription.

  • I agree that it's still a decent deal.

My comment previously was purely to inform, and there's a reason I didn't give it a negative - it's still a working product that normally costs more.

  • NOT AVAILABLE in any of the NSW Central Coast DSE's, including Tuggerah, Erina, nor Gosford.

    I just checked all three.
