UPDATE - OFFICIAL RESPONSE

According to Lenovo, the following email will be sent out for affected orders over the next 24 hours.

Dear xxx

Unfortunately, we’ve been unable to accept your recent order due to a pricing error on the Lenovo Australia online store.

Based on current information this affected the following laptop configurations between Friday, September 13 and Monday September 16:

  • ThinkPad Edge E330, E531, T530, T430s & X131e display options
  • ThinkPad Helix digitiser pen, front camera and camera display.

I apologise sincerely for the inconvenience caused and can confirm that this error has now been fixed. If you would like to place another order at the correct price, you may do this on our online store or telephone sales support centre.

For some reason, Lenovo is offering a hefty $165 discount if you select the "Arctic Blue" display colour when configuring the E330. There are three base configurations on offer - this applies the the i3-3120M and i5-3230M models (the i3-3110M cannot be reconfigured).

After changing the screen to Arctic Blue, the standard coupons also apply. For the i3-3120M, you can use SEPWELC2013 coupon. For the i5-3230M, the E330DEAL coupon provides a slightly bigger discount on the base config, while SEPWELC2013 may be better if you add upgrades.

UPDATE: As noted by Souljarh and brick007123, a similar discount also applies to the E531 range by selecting the "FHD Antiglare" screen.

Update 3: Discount on both E330 Arctic Blue and E531 Full HD has been confirmed to be a price error. See this comment as confirmed by Lenovo.Other members have been receiving emails from Lenovo claiming it's the customer who requested the cancellation. Also this email from Lenovo detailing the list of products that were affected by the price error over the weekend.

    I shouldve block this website yesterday to prevent buying this thing! I bought it and don't know why i bought it.. I use my Ipad and pc frequently. There were little hornswoggles whispering in my ear to buy it

    How often you really come across a FHD laptop under $500.. NEVER!

    Anyone else happen to get an error on the last step? My paypal and order appear to have went through, but the product was still in my cart. When I click my account, the order's there, but it comes up with an error when I click view order details…

        I don't think it can from all accounts :( From what i've been reading, u3011 does not support anything > 1920x1200 from HDMI, need DVI-D or displayport which is reserved for highend Thinkpad line…. Tempted to skip this deal. Already got a macbook air for a web surfer, was hoping to replace my desktop with an E531 but doesn't seem like it can run my 30". Oh well.

          The dock costs around $250. Ouch. Can't find any solid evidence to say it can actually support 2560x1600 though. Not an ideal solution not really worth it if you have to shell out an extra $250 and doing it over USB 3.0 I can just imagine problems

          I shouldn't have an issue running a secondary 24 inch monitor through the hdmi should I?

          Would the base model e531 be capable enough if surfing the net on the laptop and playing a low end game such as dota 2 on the second a screen?

          Or would I have to upgrade to the i7 and vid card?

          No problem with 1920x1200.

          The intel hd4000 graphics is decent, but that does not mean your game supports it.
          The dota2 website says it supports "Intel HD3000 or higher" on OSX, but Linux or the other OS needs ATI or Nvidia.

          The i3 CPU is fine.

    Any opinions on the e351 i3 as a HTPC? Have a Boxee Box that I'm looking to replace, and at this price it's tempting to pick up one of these and hide away in the cupboard with a wireless keyboard/mouse and pick up a dual tuner USB tv card.

      If you are going to use it for live TV I'd suggest getting the upgraded graphics. I built an htpc a while back and decided to just use the integrated graphics, I had many issues with stuttering and lag. I've recently put a cheap nvidia card in there and its made a world of difference.

        This is a software issue. Much older intel graphics will do hd-tv well if you are lucky.
        Were you using Linux? The linux intel graphics drivers have often been a problem.
        OSX is good, and I'd have thought windows too.

    Finally paypal went through. Yesterday had no such luck. Since I sold my macbook retina all my computers have standard displays making me yearn for a fhd screen. Hopefully the e531 delivers on all counts. Price is the only thing that's pushed me in this direction as the last Lenovos I've had lack in performance. What the hell am I doing buying Lenovo again? That's right, I've been ozbargained.

        Yeh, initially I ordered the e531 i7 model but each time I tried to complete the transaction with paypal it hanged for a long amount of time and wouldn't go through. Eventually I completed it with credit card purchase. Today went through without complications opting for the i5 e531 since I'll only be using it for adobe cs6.

        I wouldn't mind having a quad core i7 but I'd like to put money towards a Samsung note 3.

      This is nothing for Lenovo(you can't compare Kogan to the world's second largest PC supplier in unit sales), I think they will honour it, though its pretty sure to be a pricing mistake. They always honoured their previous ones and its not like their giving the laptops for $54.99 instead of $549.00.

      I think their sales director will be very happy with their IT web developers this week for negotiating a discount he couldnt get through the CEO :P

      The Edge E431 and E531 are also listed in Lenovo's 'Clearance Outlet' section of their website, so this looks to be a genuine stock cleanout, presumably prior to the new generation Haswell CPU's becoming available.

    I would be very surprised if the orders get cancelled as its still possible to order the E330 with Arctic blue cover for the reduced price (-$165).

    By now they should/would have fixed the error already, if there was any in the first place.

    What are the negative reviews people are mentioning? Apart from the trackpoint buttons being hidden beneath the trackpad (causing people to move the mouse when they don't want it to because they're fingers don't hit the buttons right on), and one guy saying when he closes the screen it presses on the keyboard leaving a mark on the screen, I can't find much.

    I just confirmed with Lenovo and my order for E531 FHD has gone through and she asked me to call around Friday to get the approx delivery date. Also cancelled E330 order no problem at all. Good luck everybody.

        Well if whoever is on eBay can't be stuffed to check around the net for better deals - then it's their fault for buying off the eBay reseller.
        Same deal with retailers. If you buy from HN/JBHifi @ fullrrp with 5% off without checking staticice + other comp shops, you're not a professional and deserve to be slapped in the face.

    Why get mad at me its better to know than order and waste your time. Im mad also i ordered 2 but he said though my CC was debited its only pending until machine is assembled. He said he had a long list in front of him of ozbargainers orders.

        He's probably some kind of psychic/magician hybrid in that he is able to use common sense to figure out that that 200 orders in the space of a day when a model might only sell 5 times might be related to an ozbargain thread with 700 positives.

        I'm no warlock/necromancer though to determine such things though so don't take my word for it.
