ORIGINAL POST
For some reason, Lenovo is offering a hefty $165 discount if you select the "Arctic Blue" display colour when configuring the E330. There are three base configurations on offer - this applies the the i3-3120M and i5-3230M models (the i3-3110M cannot be reconfigured).

After changing the screen to Arctic Blue, the standard coupons also apply. For the i3-3120M, you can use SEPWELC2013 coupon. For the i5-3230M, the E330DEAL coupon provides a slightly bigger discount on the base config, while SEPWELC2013 may be better if you add upgrades.

    what? no scotty?

    • +10

scotty gets credit because if it weren't for his earlier post, I wouldn't have visited the Lenovo site in the first place (don't care for the E341, but I'm sometimes curious to check the latest E330 deals).

    • +17

      Because Scotty doesn't know!!

    • Guys.. Sorry but I've done the calculations and don't think anyone will receive their order.

Reason: IT'S AN OBVIOUS MISTAKE!!!!!!! And they are not in any way obliged to honor it.
Also some of the configurations are below cost of manufacture

Take the e531 for example, $337 with the headphone offer. Lenovo has to cover shipping packaging and insurance expenses approx $13, gst $33, license of windows 8, $45 approx,.. This is just without any hardware mentioned.

How much would a full hd screen cost?? Assembly etc??? Hdd, ram, powersupply, cpu, mboard etc…
God knows but I'm sure around $200 plus

So even though I bought 2, I'm not getting my hopes up here..

They will pull a kogan on us…

      Fingers crossed anyway…

      • thanks but we already knew and still hoping.

      • +1

If so,wonder what compensation will lenovo give? Can't be nothing!

        • If so,wonder what compensation will lenovo give? Can't be nothing!

10% off coupon which they are offering with this deal .. or maybe they will up it to 15%

Either way, it would probably be a major fail

Take the e531 for example, $337 with the headphone offer. Lenovo has to cover shipping packaging and insurance expenses approx $13, gst $33, license of windows 8, $45 approx,

          • regards to postage, they would have a contract with a courier company so probably costing them less than $13

          • regards to GST, aren't we paying for it?

          • regards to Win License, they have a bulk licence agreement with MS

        • +1

Prob a kogan style $20 voucher and unlimited subscription to lenovo offers!

        • Yeh i only put approx amounts but exactly my point for GST. lenovo really only gets about $306 cash from us..

No value for them… Big value for us!!!
          If it works…

        • bulk/volume expenses dont cost them much

They would pay X amount of $$ for volume license from MS

And then they would pay X amount of $$ to a courier company for a specified period.

        • +1

I hope you're right… Im seriously still psychologically f##### from the Samsung s4/kogan offer..

Feels like chasing mirages in the desert I'll tell ya

        • regards to the courier service. They probably can get a contract for corporate volume discount via Aus Post and I believe it's less than $10 per parcel.

        • Aus Post

Probably eParcel or DHL/Fedex since they get shipped from china

and eparcel/DHL/Fedex has agreements with AustPost

      • Hope everyone buying a Lenovo here won't be Koganned

        • Just got my cancellation email,
Hopes dashed … Headline in Hacker news….

          Lenovo does a Kogan
    • I feel bad for Broden who was selling these on eBay and Gumtree…NOT!

  • Fantastic, thanks.

    • +1

I'm a bit concerned on the reviews for the E531… Anyone had any problems with them??

    • +9

Just in case this helps the link for the E531 is: http://shopap.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/edge-series/… and choose the model on the far left then change the Display to FHD and code SEPWELC2013 at the end, comes to $336.60. Oh and don't forget the $1 earphones under accessories while customising.

The link for the E330 is: https://shopap.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/edge-series… the choose the i3-3120M model in the middle then Display Arctic Blue and code SEPWELC2013 at the end, comes to $345.60.

As far as I can tell the differences is that the E531 has a 15.6" screen vs 13.3" on the E330. The E531 also has a DVD recorder. But it weighs 2.44kg vs 1.8kg for the E330. They both have 2xUSB 3.0 ports but the E531 also has 1xUSB 2.0 port as well. But the E330 can be chosen with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit instead of Windows 8 for free. Thanks OP, I ordered an E531!

      • The big difference to me is not so much the screen size, but the Full-HD.

The E531 has twice the pixels, and full-hd is 50% brighter that the standard display - 300 vs 200 nits.

  • Great price I paid $499 for same laptop 12 months very good laptop for media centre etc especially at this price, has anyone had luck using paypal checkout mine just hangs on "we are processing your cart" screen seems to work if I use Lenovo Checkout

    • Me too hangs but signed up for Lenovo account and Paypal worked.

    • Ok if you log in via Lenovo Checkout you can still use paypal as payment option but that seems to fail as well

  • no hdmi?

    • +1

No punch card reader either. Sorry won't work with your peripheral.

        • +29

No serial port to attach to my mechanical mouse
No infrared port to work with my Nokia 8210

No MIDI port for my MIDI keyboard
          No deal!!

        • Ahh the 8210. I loved that phone. sigh

        • +2

          no FDD, I miss A: and B:

        • MIDI 1.0 is still actually still alive and kicking after all these (30) years and hasn't been superceded by anything else :p

By selecting "15.6W FHD Antiglare, Midnight Black - No WWAN", you get $176 discount on i5 or i7 model of E531

This is actually better than the default "HD Antiglare, Midnight Black" with FHD instead of HD, and cheaper.

Very good price indeed, have to get in quick!

      • Wow, insane deal, bought the E531 i3 FHD for $335.7

        • How did you get that price? Please..

Thanks for the tip - I just ordered the same as you however in true OzB spirit I couldn't resist adding the "ThinkPad Noise-Cancelling Earbuds" for $1 extra - was $99. Seems they retail for about $89 if they are the same as this: http://www.shopbot.com.au/pp-lenovo-thinkpad-noise-cancellin…

It was offered on the second page I think.

          Great deal Jabba (and Scotty)!

        • Got too excited mate… got too excited…
Feel like cancelling my previous order and ordering a new one.. but they reopen on Monday..worried that it maybe too late

        • when i add earbuds with E531, why it kept saying $99?

edit: nvm, i got it working

        • I am getting 473. Am I Doing something wrong?

        • Go to laptop & ultra book tab, choose edge, choose i3, change display to FHD, add to cart, click on multimedia to add $1 earbud and apply discount code

        • Thank You so much

  • Wow, I have bought 2 x E531.

    • intentionally?

      • +3

Yes, so cheap, why not. I am not getting a dozen for ebay. It is for personal use.

      • For stereoscopic word-processing. Duh!

    • me too!!!

  • +1

I can't decide which one to buy, E330 OR E531? I like the portability of E330, but E531 is now cheaper with a FHD screen…

  • +1

    Yeah, WOW. Couldn't resist. After buying the E330 I also bought a E531 FHD i5-3230M for $405.

    • what promotion code did you use

        • You must have upgraded from the I-3 version. The difference with the I-5 version for $426 is that you get more hard disc (500gb vs 320 gb).
          So nothing is lost here.

    • Which coupon did you apply? I used SEPWELC2013 and get $425.70

      • Prices appear to change from moment to moment. I got it listed around $305 at one point but could not get that back so settled for $336 but then decided to upgrade to the i5.

        • that's becoz you ordered one with 320GB, not the 500GB which cost $20 more?

  • +2

    bought one… hoping we won't get Kogan'd this time…

    • this is definitely programming error. Kogan was not.

Make sure you choose the E531 when configuring your machine, not the OzBargain link for the E330.
        http://shopap.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/edge-series/…

I chose the cheapest option for the E531, then I downgraded the screen for a big discount. Then continued to the next step. Under Multimedia Accessories it shows up as $1 extra.

Still working here. I just checked. So you probably made a mistake somewhere.

        • +1

then I downgraded the screen for a big discount.
