ORIGINAL POST
For some reason, Lenovo is offering a hefty $165 discount if you select the "Arctic Blue" display colour when configuring the E330. There are three base configurations on offer - this applies the the i3-3120M and i5-3230M models (the i3-3110M cannot be reconfigured).

After changing the screen to Arctic Blue, the standard coupons also apply. For the i3-3120M, you can use SEPWELC2013 coupon. For the i5-3230M, the E330DEAL coupon provides a slightly bigger discount on the base config, while SEPWELC2013 may be better if you add upgrades.

  • Joined the Q on the E330 - wifey was just complaining about her slow lappy.
    Good find! - thanks

    • +2

A cheaper option is to reinstall windows on your slow laptop, this will speed it up.

      • +1

you mean uninstall. Lubuntu will make it zippy! ;)

        • Lenovo S10e is what my mum is currently using. She was complaining at one stage so I decided to give her a week on each of the major linux distros (Ubuntu, Lubuntu, Mint, Debian, Fedora, Arch) and see which one was the fastest. In the end it was "Put me back on Windows 8 all the others have been slow as all hell AS WELL AS crashing every now and then"

She's getting an E330 now so she can shut the hell up and enjoy it! :P <3

  • I have a strong feeling the e531 will get kogan'd..

  • E531 amazing deal with FHD display

  • Guys, is it worth to get E531 i5 insted of i3? Already ordered i5 but after read the comment above..thinking to change my mind..really impulsive buying lol..

    • +1

cancel the i5 one and order a i3 instead

      • How about upgrade HDD to 500GB for additional $30; is it worth ?

        • +1

if you dont plan on putting an SSD in it, probably worth it

        • +1

plan to put 128Gb SSD..nowadays only cost $89 to $99..

        • grab a 120GB mSATA SSD for $150ish instead, then you get to have both the 320GB internal for files and the mSATA SSD for boot/programs.

  • Got a confirmation that my order has been released to manufacturing :)

  • well its only a tad faster than the i3 check benchmarks, is it worth 77 bucks? not to me

  • Any thoughts on the extended warranty?

  • +4

    yeah.. don't get it

  • +1

Does the "10% off my next purchase" after you pay(so get someone else's to use) deal stack with the SEPWELC2013 coupon?

  • Ordered. ozb should get a commission from some of these deals.

This laptop will make a nice dust collector. And im going overseas next month so gst back :)

  • Can the NVIDIA GeForce GT740M be added to an I3 configuration?

If so, what are cheapest checkout price others are getting it at (with the GT740M)?

    • I think you just add the ~$140 upgrade or so to what everyone here is getting. I think someone before mentioned ~476 for the E351 one, and I got it to around the same price.

      • Thanks aznkiwi91.

  • I cannot find the $1 earbud.

    • +1

add to the cart, go to multimedia section at the bottom and you will see it

    • +1

Click on "Multimedia Accessories" when you are at Warranty upgrades and accessories page.

    • +1

during checkout, you find an option for accessories and its under multimedia

      • Thanks everyone, found the earbud. Bought one and I do not need it.

  • +1

Got the E330 and E531, already have the i53120 E330 from the previous deal (unopened after a relative promised to buy it off me and didnt). I'm not thinking straight, I dont know why I purchased them, will cancel the E330 on Monday.

  • +1

    Don't forget starthere 2.5%-3.5% cashback.

    • Oops. :(

      • Forgot about that as well :(

  • I just purchased the E531 can anyone tell me if its a touchscreen or not?

    • +1

      not

  • Big questions are upgrade to 8 GB DDR3L - 1600MHz (2 DIMM) and graphics, comes down to $609.84 with 500GB HDD.

I wonder if the memory and graphics will really improve performance for $273 more? Hm.

    • +4

      just buy them aftermarket

some of the lenovo upg prices are crazy

  • THANKYOU SOO MUCH OP!!!! :) :) :)

  • Is the E531 FHD 1600x900 or 1920x1080???

    • +1

      FHD = 1920 x 1080
      HD+ = 1600 x 900

  • Thanks OP. Trying to pay via Paypal but it starts playing up? So paid via credit card but they only take the money if the order goes through I think.

  • +1

    .

  • its fhd.. do the math

    • +16

No probs, Maths is my game:

      • 1920 X 1080 = 2073600
      • 1920 + 1080 = 3000
      • 1920 - 1080 = 840
      • 1920 / 1080 = 1.777777777777778

      Do i get a A+

      • Yes, if you managed to get the answers without using a calculator.

        • +4

Yes, if you managed to get the answers without using a calculator.

          I didn't use a calculator

I wrote a quick script to calculate the numbers above using a free Udemy Course that WNK posted :p

      • You forgot one

        1920^1080=9.2326633422521553117362172914413e+3545

      • 1920P1080=1920!/(1920-1080)!1080!

      • 1920C1080 = 1920! / (1080! × (1920 - 1080)!)

      • gj A++

  • +2

Also went to order history and it gives an error message when you go to view order details?

  • +1

Looks like the Paypal one also went through but it's showing up as pending. Only wanted to order 1 but pretty sure these will be cancelled any way. Just going along with the masses for the fun of it yeeeehaaaa :)

    • Even if you used paypal, they could just refund you (as Kogan did). I don't think it makes a huge diff, paying thru paypal or not.

  • Hi guys,

I dont know anything about computer specs, but need a laptop for Uni. I needs to be able to run this 3D modelling program:
    http://www.solidworks.com/sw/support/SystemRequirements.html

Any ideas if this will run it. What combination of parts do I need? Any help would be awesome.

    • Depending on the complexity of your drawings and whether you need 3d rendering it may be worth considering a far more powerful laptop (e.g one with a Core i7 and discrete GPU).

See this thread for some info
      https://forum.solidworks.com/thread/71868?tstart=0

Though I think for university you'd probably be dealing with smaller projects. A core i5 should be ok.

      • i5 is dual cores tho, that's a big downgrade

    • HD Graphics P4000

      8.15.10.2761 Card passed all tests

      2013

      Win7 x64

      seems to be ok

i would reckon its the slowest one there though

Intel says HD4000 is the same as P4000

the GT740 isnt listed at all

    • For solid works. Any processor will be fine. I find it really doesn't seem to use more than one core.

RAM seems to be pretty important with 3D cad. However, its normally cheaper to add it in after market.

I'd say you definitely need to go with the 740m graphics card though (available on the 15" model).

    • Your all legends,

Ill save my money for an up-spec one.

  • I bought one for the 20$ voucher

    • then you will pissed this time…most likely

  • question for the tech-heads:

Is it worth upgrading from my current machine (bit dated: i7-720QM, 1.6Gz, 4GB RAM, Nvidia Geforce GT 230M) to the i3 configuration (e330 or e531) without the discrete card on the e531 option?

    • No

      • Thanks … though would you be able to elaborate on the reason(s) why?

        • There's not much of a performance difference between your i7 and the i3… if none at all. Basically it's not worth 'upgrading' to, since you see no actual performance gains. I guess it may be worth getting for power efficiency (since Ivy Bridge i3 beats first gen i7 in terms of power consumed)

        • in some case i7 (quad cores) will be faster than new i3 (dual cores). but that i7-720QM is damn hot, when cooling went bad the mainboard will die soon.

        • +8

          that i7-720QM is damn hot

My GF is Damn hot, should i upgrade her too

        • I was wondering the same thing as I want to run games on it. Current laptop has I7-3632Qm, 2.2Gz and a Radeon HD7670M GPU.

I guess it's not worth upgrading for the better GT740 but running on an I3?

The Nvidia GPU on offer here is better from what I can gather though and obviously this has better screen.

  • Cheers OP, got the E330 with 2x2 antenna upgrade for $352.53. Had my eye on it as a netbook replacement for a while now.

  • the i3 E330 appears to be sold out :(

  • Got the I3 $336. Thanks OP.

Not holding my breath, though, that Lenovo will honor this deal. They have an out already built in.

  • DVD or Blu-ray?

    • -1

      DVD or Blu-ray?

      Green-Fog

      • Ha - Ha

    • is there even an option to for a blu-ray drive??

  • Damn, is anyone else having trouble getting the paypal payment to go thru as a guest?
It just keeps hanging in my browser " We are processing your cart…Please wait."
Now im getting a new error after making account " PayPal is unable to accept your order at this time. Please contact PayPal or choose another payment type" FML.

    • I got that on paypal, similar issues with credit card, both as guest or using lenovo checkout as registered member. So I went with direct deposit on lenovo checkout, worked a treat.

      • Mine finally worked with credit card registered account.

  • What about corporate EPP programs on top of this? Has anyone tried? I would, but I can't access my work webmail atm.

    • do coupon works on corporate buying now?

      • Na not the coupons, but I am thinking the ThinkPad Edge E531 i3, then whatever discount your company gets you?

The Lenovo EPP page says up to 20%… If I were able to get 20% off this (doubtful though), then it would come down to $298.40 (20% off $373)

    • Not the Optus one. "Coupon not valid for current shopping cart."

    2 weeks ago - amazon.co.uk - fail
    1 week ago - kogan.com.au - fail
    this week - lenovo.com/au - ????

    • Amazon.co.uk do sometimes honour mis-prices, I got a Kenwood kMix KMX54 Stand Mixer earlier this year for £89.99 which should have been around £270. Sell for about $500 here.
At the times everyone said it was a mis-price but they honoured the order. Most of these 'mis-price' deals never come through but when they do you can save $$$$$'s so it's worth jumping on every deal.

  • don't you all get tired of ordering for something knowing it wont work.

    (a) Lenovo has the right to refuse or cancel any Orders placed for the Product or Service quoted at the incorrect price, even if Lenovo has confirmed the receipt of your Order and reserved an authorised amount on your credit card, or received your direct deposit;
    (b) if Lenovo has reserved an authorised amount on your credit card, or received your direct deposit but subsequently cancelled your Order, Lenovo will not process your credit card payment (full authorisation hold on your card will automatically expire after 7 days for Visa cards and MasterCards and 30 days for American Express cards), or will refund your direct deposit to your nominated bank account for the amount paid; and
    (c) Lenovo will attempt to notify you as soon as possible about the error and you will have the option of purchasing the Product or Service at the correct price.

Pricing Error these days NEVER work. This site should ban such deals as it only wasting everyone's times.

Personally I don't mind taking the punt, great feeling the times that it works out, kind of like a less risky form of gambling ;)

    • +2

Company image, good will, free advertising, market saturation are all reasons why I think Lenovo will honor this.

What they lose in money is Nothing compared to their advertising budget, let alone public perception of the company - which is a very very highly valued asset for every large company.

Lenovo will be getting thousands of machines out into the public, machines that would not have been otherwise sold. Thousands of people walking around with Lenovos will be free publicity, and I know many people who have purchased one are university students like myself, further increasing exposure.

Word of mouth should likewise not be underestimated, people who have never bought a Lenovo may like the quality and recommend to friends and family; this is many times more effective then a billboard advertisment, which targets public recognition that would be more then adequately addressed through the thousands of Lenovos saturating the public arena.

Of course, Lenovo could decide to screw everyone here, in order to keep their chump change.

And lets hope the marketing division or someone higher up is actually competent at their job. This 'mistake' will either turn out very well for Lenovo, or simply reinforce Lenovos incompetence at upholding or even valuing a positive public image and very blatant 'screw you'.

      • You sure you're a rep?

        • In any case, Lenovo should fire their guy makes the choice to cancel and hire me!

Lets just hope the marketing division or someone higher up is actually competent at their job and will intervene before the guy panics and follows protocol.
