  • How much are replacement cartridges?
Strike that.. The previous post answered my question

  • -1

Cheaper to buy the printer again then pay for the replacement cartridges. Actually if you have a printer that takes the same cartridge it would be appealing to buy this printer just to use on your existing one.

    • +3

usually cartridges aren't full when you purchase a printer

        ^what 'e said

Ships with 1,000/7000 (black/colour) pages Starter Toner Cartridge

        vs.

Toner Cartridge Average Cartridge Yield 2500/1800 (black/colour) Standard pages

        of a retail toner.

        • +1

7000 colour pages on starter vs 1800 on retail?

        • +1

damn, second error I've made today, should quit while I'm behind…

          *700

  • so how much would the cartridges cost?

  • Great price for a printer that supports PCL, Ethernet, & Colour. Automatic duplexing would have really topped it off.

  • Seems like good value, it's a shame (not really) that I don't have the need to print any more. Having a tablet/PC + cloud storage I'd be hard pressed to print more than 20 pages a year…

  • very fast for colour print and high quality … but no WIFI
    Hard to decide~

    wireless versioin is 179.00 :(

    • If you have the need then buy the wireless version.
it's still cheaper than buying the Toners.

  • I have a CLP-315 which is a colour laser. I hate it. Heats the pages too much and causes them to change shape slightly. Printing double sided is impossible. You get dogs ears everywhere. Hopefully they have sorted those problems out with this version.

    • I have a CLP-610ND which I have had no problems with. Duplexing is awesome.

      • Maybe this model doesn't have those issues? Who knows? I've since changed to a Brother HL-4150CDN. What a beauty.

  • I bought a Dell 1350cnw desktop colour laser (actually LED, but same output) with wi-fi a few months ago and have been quite happy. No duplexing, but consumables are pretty cheap if you are happy with non-oem. the non-wifi 1250c is on staticice for $110-$150.

  • I find that Samsung toner runs out fast compared to other brands…

    • I find samsung printers breaks down sooner compare to other brands…had a color printer and a multifunction all had issues within 1 year, and major problems not worth fixing after 2 years.. both were used lightly too

Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, NEVER!!!!!! (I hope I Make my point clear)
    Buy a Samsung printer!
    EVER!!!
    Why?
I have bought these two, one for me and one for my partner.
    Samsung clx 3185fw
    Samsung scx-4623fw
Lets make a list of the horrible experiences.
Day one = Yay, new printer. Ok let’s install and test, drivers and stuff on cd, um no cd in my partners PC ok off to the web. Looked for a installer package, exe etc = NO, download all separate parts and hope they work = 1 hour lost.
Ok go to install on my PC = ok while installing needs to update stuff??
Computer freeze while update = reboot and try again. I played this game 3 times. No didn’t work ok back to the net. = 2 hours lost
Ok managed to install both printers to my machine for testing. Go to test printing = ummmm need a printer cable to set up initial stage. What a $2 cable NOT included! Really? Wifi wont work with out this cable!!!
Ok wait till tomorrow and go to a shop and buy one = one hour lost
Tested usb printing = tested out ok, not contract quality ok lets call Samsung = umm lets just say their service department is below average = next hour lost
Time to set up wifi networking = the original reason we purchased these machines.
Long story short = I have set up several local businesses with the local network, printers (wired and wireless,) print servers etc, (the after hours work that paid for these printers) so I know what I am doing. = 3 hours lost on the first day, 2 hours lost on the second = MEGA FUDGE!!
Just google Samsung wifi printer problems. Go on I dare you.

Ok lets go forward a couple of months
Samsung scx-4623fw = prints and jams, does not stay on-line and finally it jams so badly and consistently it needs to be looked at = first service, drive out and back = 1 hour lost. It then begins to jam again. It then fails to scan stuff and I uninstall and reinstall to try and fix it, reset the machine and called Samsung = 3 hours lost
Then at 300 pages it’s out of toner, yes it was on mega toner saver mode and its jammed!

Samsung clx 3185fw = prints and makes a horrible noise, does not stay on-line and starts to produce a water mark on every page, EVRY PAGE!!
Off the service center (again) = they say it’s a black drum/development unit needs replacing, it is still under warranty but these parts are a consumable which is not covered by warranty. The print report on this machine is all colors are at 100% the black is at 56% and a total page print count of 346 pages, not even one ream! = 2 hours lost one printer wrecked. All we printed was contracts and receipts, the important things for our new business. We are on a shoe string budget, working our normal jobs and trying to get our new business afloat.

We have lost almost a $1000 on these two machines counting up the initial cost, initial time to install, time to drive it out to “service centre,” calls, time to run around to local places to have work printed, missed work. So for about a $1000 we have made about 700 prints, AWESOME! Thank you Samsung……
We have made enough calls with heated discussions to realize or money is lost. Please heed my warning and spread it to all.

PS. Yes I am yelling and saying this with accents loudly because if I can save a fellow ozbargainer a single dollar and help them miss a disastrous life decision then I am happy.

My advice is spend a little extra, do your research = google Samsung clx 3185fw user review
    http://www.productreview.com.au/p/samsung-4-in-1-wireless-pr…
    Check Amazon as well.

PPS. Don’t bother with the wifi because the software apps can't find printer unless directly connected, which is lame for a wi-fi device.

      Cool story bro

    • What a meth!

    • -1

Cool story but have you got any experience(bad or good) about the actual product of this post??? Otherwise you are slightly OT

      • Not not this exact model but seeing is has the same base model as my CLX machine and others (CLX4170, CLX4195FN, CLX4190, CLX4195FW) check the consumables, run away!

PS. If you check the feed back on new egg and amazon that should set a warning signal. Check reviews for the CLX and CLP range/series, the different models have or don't have a ADF (automated document feeder) or scanner attached on top or a wireless card ie FW built in.

your amazon link shows 3 stars out of 5….now I don't know if I'm missing something here….

        • I think I would be looking at a better than 50-60% happiness rate on the purchase of a new product and you cant give zero stars as some people would like to give. In main stream purchasing your looking at a 3-9% failure/unsatisfied rate. But hey what level are you happy at?

        • 3 stars means that(simplified example) this is an average between people like you(1 star since there is no zero) and extremelly happy people(5 stars).
Now, i appreciate your time and your effort to write a looong comment like the above and express your concerns about the product but why I should trust your review and not a 5 star review from another user? What makes your review more trustworthy than any other? Especially when you compare apples with oranges!
Personally I do my homework before i purchase something but If i paid $129 for a color laser printer I think my expectations wouldn't be that high! In other words, you get what you pay for.
To make it easier to understand, can you please tell me a color laser printer you are happy with? Just reply with the model number/name if you want, thanks

    • i have a CLP-325W. wifi doesn't work on my mac setup either.

      • what's your overall satisfaction with your printer? How much would you give it out of 5?

    • I don't know about anyone else but I tend to ignore walls of hyperventilating text.

    • Thanks Captains…. I was about to buy… but after your experience and heaps of others online I will wait for another deal form cannon…

    • .

  • Fuji Xerox CP305D here and its the nicest printer I have owned :p (it is triple the price of this one though).
