  • how many bottles of coke do i need to buy to get 890 tokens

    • 10 points per bottle, 10 codes a week you can enter.

      • +10

        89 bottles @ $2 each is like $180 worth of diabetes

        • +4

          ^$178, those 2 dollars can go far for an ozbargainer

        • either way, you'd have to be insane to spend that much on something that only costs $60 lol

        • So its a good thing we don't spend that much to get the items.

      • +5

        Pick them out of the trash if you really want it without spending $180. A lot of people don't bother collecting these things.

  • If I did not already have a membership, I'd be all over this.

    • -2

      i can trade you real money for coke money

      • +2

        Do they accept monopoly money?

  • +3

    Are you able to after receiving the card, get a cash refund as the standard membership?

  • +1

    Lol, i just checked my points and (after redeeming $150 JBhifi cards)I have just…890 points left! I got excited for one sec but then I remembered I'm already a Costco member :P

    • Out of curiosity, how much soft drink do you consume?

      • +9

        The exact right amount by the sounds of it.

      • 2-3 small bottles of coke zero a week.

        • If u buy big bottles u got more coke for ur cash.

  • what does gold even entitle you to over standard
    bigger shopping carts

    • There's actually only 3 levels to costco membership:

      • Gift membership
      • Gold star membership
      • Business membership

      The only difference between them is the Business membership lets you shop an hour earlier (or at least thats what it was)

    As a guide on value, this reward is about 15 points per dollar value (lower is better).

    Confer:

    • Red ATH-M50's (which are excellent head phones) 12.9 ppdv;

    • JB Hifi vouchers when they come up which are 20 ppdv;

    • Video Ezy Flash Rewards, 3.5 ppdv (Flash rewards costs $39.95);

    • Hoyts tickets, 8.6 ppdv (when modestly valued at $11: probably worth more when you consider the real tickets are $18 and the cinevouchers you might otherwise buy for $11 can't be used for as many things);

    • EMI $5 voucher, 10 ppdv; or

    • EMI single song download, 12 ppdv (songs sold for up to $2.09 each).

    • +1

      i'm wondering why you divide like that, is it because the numbers are nicer? to me it's more logical to work out how many $/point return you're getting, ie with the hoyts vouchers it's 10/95 = 0.105

      comparing to this deal, it's 60/890 = 0.067 so the return is significantly less

      i guess each to their own, you're working out from paying point of view, i'm working out from returns point of view

      • +1

        Sorry peter I pressed the wrong button.
        +1 I totally agree with you. Also, we need to take in consideration how "good" and flexible the reward is.
        For example those coke branded rewards don't appeal to me even if they sell for 10 points but a JBhifi voucher, even if it costs more points per dollar, allows me to choose anything I want.

      • +1

        Yep, easier number and I guess I thought in this instance it was easier to think of it in terms of how many points you need to spend to get $1 of reward than how many (as a tiny decimal) dollars of reward you get per point. But like you said Peter, each to their own. Normally I'm more inclined to your approach though.

        And like GregFiona said, I think you really need to take into account a number of other factors, like the reward's utility. That's why the JB HiFi vouchers are great rewards despite not representing the best value, whereas the Flash Rewards represent the best value but can only be used once and are only useful to people who do or would frequent VideoEzy.

        So there are a number of things to take into account. I just post the ppdv as information to help people decide.

        • +1

          haha, from your posts above i think you'll have fingers in multiple credit card rewards schemes as well ;)

          it's a similar comparison to L/100km vs km/L when doing car mileage calculations

        • Haha. I'm a dedicated OzBargainer! :)

  • +1

    I've been wanting a Costco membership for so long at last something i actually want for drinking coca cola has paid off.

    • Chances are once you get in, you won't find something worth buying… Everything is sold in massive proportions. My friend has a 2L bottle of shampoo, which he's still using 2 years on.

      • +3

        is he/she bald?

        • -3

          I'm not, but I don't think I could use that up in 2 years time. A 350ml will last me months.

          You should only wash your hair every two days btw.

        • I'm washing mine everyday, never had a problem, full set of hair here and tons of hair gel :)
          Even if you use 6ml every second day 2l won't be enough for 2 years ;)
          p.s @Costco you can find lots of stuff, not everything is expensive and not everything comes in a big/family pack

      • well that's a good thing then? Shampoo is expensive,

        • -2

          If you need that much of it, ok. But it won't be cheap either.

        • then why did he buy it

        • +1

          He's rich.

  • +1

    I only go to costco to buy the 1lt bottle of Nandos hot source @ $9.99… dam you Nandos addition! now i will be washing it down with coke!

    • Best sauce ever!

    • i buy the sauce too. Its so good. i put it in nearly everything!
