  • Price is cheap but you get what you paid for…

Yep, heard so many Acer horror stories.

    • Couldn't have agreed more! After all cpu is not crashing hot nor does 1366x768 res impresses many movie critics.
But for those of us with limited requirements on gaming and looking for light and budget laptop might be interested in this deal. Plus I'm just sucker for a touch screen :)

      • light?

Still, not a bad price for a Nanna-spec laptop.

This is nowhere near cheap for those woeful specs.

MSY and JB Hi-Fi had Acer Aspire V5's with 2nd Gen i3's and 750GB HDDs/NVidia GT630M for this price.

This was one month ago: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/111632

      • That's no cash back, and the worst no touch screen. Think many people like me to buy a win8 laptop just for experiencing the touch screen windows laptop

        • The cashback offered applied to those 2 previous deals at MSY & JB Hi-Fi I mentioned.

There's a global cashback offer for virtually any Acer laptop purchased from the start this year; most of the Aspire range falls within the criteria (though Acer does only give you about 2 weeks from the purchase date to redeem it).

And secondly, you do realise cashback claims take months to process and you get a gift card; not actual cash? That's not really a selling point compared to a far better specced laptop that will make everyday computing tasks easier.

Touch screens are a very subjective extra and do not in anyway justify the inflated price. Faster CPUs, more storage space and better graphics cards are in anyone's book, a plus. Especially when all that can be had for a lower price than a below average touch-screen laptop.

  • I've been lucky on my 2008 Acer laptop which has never missed a beat.

According to this US reliability survey Samsung is by far the best.

  • I bought this one, it's a decent laptop…not a fan at all of Windows 8. Nice and light has been going well for the past few months, pretty well made.

  • That's an NZ cashback form. Is there a different Aus one?

  • The Cashback link provided is (probably) for NZ program (as above post states) - "entity=0041" in URL and freecall 0800 number.

The Australian Cashback page can be found here:
    http://ec3.acer.com.au/AcerCashBack/ACA/Projects/CashBack/Lo…

This shows a valid program exists for this laptop (NX.M7LSA.002), but the cash back is only $69.

    Thus, price after cashback will be $498 - $69 = $429.

Similar to the eSold deal the other day but 14" instead of 15.6". This one is $30 cheaper and includes "bonus" AV and printer.

Seems OK but not great. I reckon there are better deals out there - I just need someone to find them for me!

Great to see the Acer bashing started so fast.

Only Acer I have had a problem with was their early netbook - absolute rubbish for reliability.

later models have been fine, sure, made down to a price but I'd rather Acer than something from Aldi (try our new mobile plan - carrier closes in 1 month!)

This deal was $399.00 when I bought it on 15/08/2013. Come with $69.00 cashback( As in their advertisement, but not sure, reason see below)and IT pack.
    http://ec3.acer.com.au/AcerCashBack/ACA/Projects/CashBack/Lo…

Although Acer also has the $89.00 cashback project still running, but you cannot register this product on it.
    http://ec3.acer.com.au/AcerCashBack/ACA/Projects/CashBack/Lo…

Also another possible problem is Acer's cash back condition:
    9) The Cashback Offer is not available for products sold in conjunction with any other special offer or promotional product bundle.
So it's very possible we can not get any redemption from Acer from Binglee's deal.

I have registered this redemption already, but not sure if Acer will realize it or not.

MSY has similar deal several days ago $368.00 with $69.00 cashback. No other promotional bonus with it. SO it would definitely make it $299.00 after redemption.
